The Service:
The service facilitates peer support and delivery of monthly workshops and drop- ins. The service will provide first-class, person-centred information, advice and guidance to people with learning disabilities through both one-to-one and group support.
The Role:

Support will be flexibly based operating out of a central Bromley office but delivered at various venues across the borough. About you
You will:
- Have an in-depth knowledge of cerebral palsy, its causes, health implications, therapies, and available support due to a personal lived experience.
- Have experience and up to date knowledge of current issues that affect disabled people and those around them, specifically people with cerebral palsy.
- Have at least two years’ experience working in a customer focused environment.
- Have excellent communication skills with an understanding of different needs and being able to respond to these accordingly.
- Have a strong ability to convey complex information in an accessible way and engage diverse audiences.
- Be an excellent communicator who demonstrates effective person-centred listening, empathy, and probing skills to respond to underlying issues and assist customers to make informed choices.
- Be highly organised with the capacity to prioritise workloads effectively by using your own initiative. Ability to engage groups of people and individuals on the subject of cerebral palsy and disability.
- Have direct experience of the barriers that society creates for disabled people. Bringing drive and enthusiasm to the role, demonstrating that you care passionately about improving the lives of disabled people.

Main purpose of the role
Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, this post will lead on the development and delivery of Thrive’s community and public fundraising whilst working collaboratively with the rest of fundraising team to maximise and develop opportunities over various income streams.

Summary of duties:
Our Communications and Engagement Officer will lead on the work of our new Community Hub project and promote all the great things that CfD does e.g. the events and activities as part of our Deaf People Together project. The post holder will be based at The Vassall Centre, Gill Avenue, Fishponds, Bristol BS16 2QQ.
This is an exciting opportunity to help CfD improve our communications, and to support the Deaf Community and hard of hearing people throughout Bristol with managing and sharing their information. You will work with Deaf and hard of hearing people by providing the training, tools, and resources to enable them to create their own information materials that can be shared with the community.
You will be responsible for developing and uploading website content, creating marketing material, use of social media and other communications platforms to help deliver the aims of our Community Hub project and to increase our community engagement and profile. You will also lead on commissioning a redesign of our website.
You will also have a role in supporting our Community Development Officer to arrange and publicise events.
You will use your time in this way:

Community Hub

Provide training for and support deaf volunteers to improve CfD’s capacity to produce and share relevant community information from across Bristol. You will organise workshops for deaf people to develop their skills in video and media technology to produce accessible content.

Develop a virtual information hub, where information on CfD events and other activities in Bristol will be fully accessible to all deaf people, using CfD’s website, social media, apps, and newsletters.

Support deaf people with producing their own newsletters using BSL and subtitles. Our aim is to have a regular newsletter that is produced and managed by deaf people.

Develop a CfD “newsround” – a regular video round-up of events, news, and information of interest to deaf people.

Work with 4 Community Hubs in Bristol to increase their accessibility for and engagement with deaf people in their neighbourhoods, and to increase their understanding of how to include deaf people in activities. This work will include collaborating to deliver deaf-focused events.
Communications

Support other projects at CfD with information dissemination, and media and communications, such as creating posters, video production, posting on social media, and basic updates on our website.

Improve the quality and reach of information that CfD sends out e.g. using other social media platforms.

Support the CFD Community Development Officer by arranging and promoting events.

Ensure compliance across all media with CfD’s brand guidelines.

Lead on reviewing the CfD website and commissioning a new design.

Note:
The final interpretation of this job description rests with the CEO in consultation with the Board of Trustees and the jobholder. Live out your Christian faith in a fun job, surrounded by excellent kind volunteers and straight talking adults with learning disabilities in a beautiful farm setting near Winchester. If you love cooking, people and thinking on your feet, then this is the management job for you. Boaz is a small independent charity that over 100 people a week call their "workplace". Four days a week around 30 people come to the farm to "work and learn together" doing a whole range of horticulture and other jobs such as cooking, craft, animal care and woodwork. As Deputy Manager you will help keep the fun levels high, the stress levels low, and people working harmoniously together. Four days each week you'll lead on cooking a simple vegetarian meal for everyone on site, plus be involved in the general day to day management of the charity. But don't take my word for it, swing by for a coffee and a walk around to get a feel for things BEFORE you apply. Based in a converted cow barn this is a MARMITE job, and we all know that people either love or don't love that spread.
It's a small team, only two other full time staff members working alongside you, but over 50 volunteers coming and going each week and over 30 adults with learning disabilities who spend half days or several days a week working at the project. Each day starts with some "listening and prayer time" where people are encouraged to share and receive prayer if they request it. Then some scripture is shared followed by remembering everything people are grateful for. As Deputy Manager you would lead these sessions when the General Manager is on leave or be on a rota system.
The role is based on-site, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30.
You get 20 days holiday a year plus Public Holidays to start with, plus additional days for long service.
Pay will be in the range of £28 to £30,000 p/a depending on experience.

This role will be pivotal in contributing to FEI’s communications strategy, focusing on high-quality content creation across social media, personal stories and other written, designed and video formats.
Scope of the role:
The Digital Content & Communications Officer is responsible for creating content across FEI’s communications channels, inspiring individuals organisations alike to get involved in the face equality movement.
This is an exciting new role within the organisation and the ideal candidate will be creative, passionate about communications, content and digital and looking to build their expertise in a growing organisation with a global footprint. The role will be varied and the successful candidate will have the chance to work across a variety of key communications activities, with a primary focus on social media.
There will be freedom for creativity and trying out new ideas, with a focus on personal development through training and ongoing support by working closely with the newly promoted Campaigns Manager who previously fulfilled a similar role.
We offer flexible hours, with a remote team working across the UK.

Face Equality International works to mobilise an alliance of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), charities and support groups to further the campaign for ‘face equality’.
Our mission is to enable the facial difference community to live a life free from discrimination, indignity or stigma. We do this by positioning face equality as a social justice movement.
Responsibilities

Social media – Written, graphic and video content to be produced to support FEI’s mission. With the support from the Campaigns Manager, the Communications Officer will lead on developing engaging content to amplify the voices of the facial difference community. Accessible content standards are essential.

Graphic/video editing – Using tools such as Canva or CapCut to create and edit content.

Website updates – All FEI staff have access and responsibility to collectively update our WordPress site in line with their role.

Copywriting – Creating content for social media primarily with the addition of blogs and other written marketing materials on occasion.

Engagement – Community management and engagement via online channels, including influencer outreach.

Monitoring and evaluation – using analytics to track impact.

Ad hoc tasks: Supporting the team with ad hoc administrative and communications duties as requested.
Past experience:
-
Experience of producing content for digital channels is essential.

Experience of copywriting is essential.

Experience of design programs such as Canva or Photoshop is essential.

Experience/knowledge of the social justice and equality movements, particularly those devoted to the disability and disfigurement community, is desirable but not essential.
Knowledge and skills:

Excellent communication skills – both written and oral, and the ability to communicate to our diverse global audience with care and professionalism.

Good interpersonal skills in order to collaborate with volunteers, staff, members and our wider community.

Good knowledge of brand guidelines, tone of voice, and adhering to overarching strategy.

IT literacy – knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint are essential.

Knowledge of website, social media and newsletter content management systems.

Ability to work to tight deadlines, and to prioritise workload.

Attention to detail and good organisational skills.

Willingness and enthusiasm to learn, and grow as the face equality movement does.

Multi-lingual candidates would be an asset to our work.
