Job description

Dogs 4 Rescue is looking for a Fundraising Manager to drive our growth and build deep relationships with our supporters. This is a hands-on role which includes lots of interactions with packs of dogs. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver fundraising, communications and engagement strategy aligned to D4R’s long-term vision.
  • Create and oversee compelling storytelling across campaigns, digital channels, press and events.
  • Identify the impactful stories by being in amongst our dogs, film and produce suitable content with them.
  • Partner closely with the team and leadership to create a seamless supporter journey that drives income and deepens engagement.
  • Build internal communications that reinforce clarity, culture and shared purpose.
  • Identify grant opportunities and develop and maintain corporate relationships 
  • Lead the marketing team and ensure materials for all marketing needs are produced on time to support the marketing plan
  • Create, maintain and deliver a marketing plan each year, to cover the social media, campaigns, lottery, “shop” across all channels and major events
  • Sustain and grow significant donation income through non-lottery routes through specific campaigns as well as maintaining the shop and subscription income by ensuring sustained engagement
  • Strengthen national and local media presence, securing high-impact coverage.
  • Provide strategic oversight of government and policy engagement, identifying opportunities for influence.
  • Ensure strong and consistent communications across all platforms.
  • Oversee agency relationships and the marketing of the lottery to sustain targeted rate of growth.
  • Ensure that all marketing materials maintain the narrative and style that suits our goals, brand and message.
  • Report on marketing efficiency and effectiveness.

Background and experience

  • Experience of being with large packs of dogs and able to safely manage situations with difficult and scared dogs whilst capturing natural photos and video content
  • Detailed knowledge of dog rescue and a dedication to kennel-free rescue
  • Demonstrable ability to craft and tell the stories that create emotional engagement
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to represent D4R credibly at the highest levels
  • Experience operating successfully at a strategic leadership level within organisations
  • A proven, creative and commercial approach to income generation, underpinned by strong market insight
  • Strong financial acumen, with confidence in budget management, forecasting and ROI analysis
  • Experience creating and managing a fundraising portfolio
  • Ability to inspire, lead and develop high performing teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with sound judgement around risk and reputation
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of lottery operation and marketing
  • Experience across all major social media platforms
  • Proven ability to use and manage CRM 
  • Knowledge of legacy management, Gift Aid and Corporate Giving 
  • Editing – experienced in premier pro, adobe express and photoshop
  • Strong skills in standard Microsoft computer packages
  • Full, clean driving license
  • Willingness to work across all sites, regular weekend working
