Job description

We are working in partnership with Dogs for Good, a registered charity dedicated to advancing the boundless possibilities of what a connection between people and dogs can enable – in making everyday life fuller, healthier, and happier for everyone involved. They understand the extraordinary change dogs can enable when they form part of a social-care model centred on the needs of people and communities. With their new 2024-2028 strategy in place, it’s an exciting time to join the Dogs for Good team!

A Director of People is sought to lead on all matters relating to people - both staff and volunteers – ensuring Dogs for Good develop a “One Team” culture. The director will create and oversee the delivery of a People Strategy to support the new organisational strategy and provide visible leadership, facilitating an environment that unlocks the full potential of staff and volunteers, while inspiring a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the organisation.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

  • Professional qualification and experience of HR (CIPD or equivalent) with demonstrable strategic and operational experience with paid staff and volunteers.
  • Track record of providing visible, inclusive, and collaborative leadership in the People and Culture space.
  • Experience of coaching and influencing staff to deliver new ways of working.
  • Experience of driving equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives to support best practice.
  • A proven track record of working in the charity or not-for-profit sector would be advantageous.

We are seeking a strategic and impactful individual, with excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, and with the ability to enable and empower teams.
