Summary

The Human Resources department provides a strategic and operational HR service to the seven National Church Institutions (NCIs) and the 42 Diocesan Bishops' offices. Our HR Operations team focusses on the entire employee lifecycle providing support, advice and guidance to senior leaders, line managers and staff. The Organisational Development team lead on culture, values, wellbeing, development and our belonging & inclusion strategy. Through our External Service team, we also offer HR support on a consultancy basis to other Church of England organisations including our dioceses and cathedrals.

The NCIs comprises a wide variety of functions and professions to support the mission and ministries of the Church by working with those who serve in parishes, dioceses, schools and other ministries, and with partners at a national and international level.

• Reviewing risk assessments that have been completed by staff and line managers, requesting additional information, and advising on risk mitigation;
• Supporting requests for adjustments and additional equipment may be required, including requests for Access to Work funding, liaising with Facilities and Technology Services as required;
• Supporting the Head of Health & Safety in reviewing accidents and incidents that occur across NCI sites or involve colleagues in the course of their work;
• Advising staff travelling overseas on potential risks;
• Managing the lone worker safety devices used by the NCIs;
• Administering our Health Cash Plan scheme;
• Day to day administration of our Health & Safety reporting system;
• Assisting in the preparation of Health & Safety reports e.g., the Joint Staff Council and Health and Safety forum.

As an adviser within the HR Operations team, you will also get involved in responding to other types of HR queries via email, phone and Teams chat, and supporting colleagues in using our Oracle Employee and Manager self-service.

Key role requirements:

• This is a hybrid working role which can be based in our offices in either York or London.
• The HR Operations Team typically works from the London office 1-2 days per week depending on business need. Travel to other sites may also be required from time to time.
• Visits to other NCI work locations may also be required from time to time.

You'll need previous experience of advising on and reviewing health and safety risks, including Display Screen Equipment, lone working and overseas travel with, or working towards, a recognised Health & Safety certificate (e.g. IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent).

We're looking for someone who has:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with accuracy and attention to detail including with numerical data. You will need to be able to communicate clearly to stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.
• An enthusiastic and highly organised approach to work, with the ability to understand and process high volumes of information. You will need to be able to work comfortably with competing priorities and show flexibility in your approach to customers to understand differing expectations.

An interest in and willingness to learn broader HR policies and processes. Experience in HR in addition to Health & Safety would be an advantage.

• A salary of £40,572 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

We are seeking a proactive and analytical Assistant Finance and Operations Business Partner to join our Finance team. Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

· Support the implementation of best financial practices.

· Facilitate communication between Finance and non-Finance teams.

· Process the quarterly financial forecasts and annual budgets using Excel and Microsoft Business Central.

· Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, liaising with budget holders to ensure accuracy and engagement.

This six-month internship is a great opportunity to develop your activist and organising skills in a professional setting while helping to ensure our youth network continues to thrive. You’ll work closely with the youth activism manager and the rest of the activism team, and we’ll give you the training and support you need as well as the space to take your own initiative.

Global Justice Youth is a national collective of young people building international solidarity with social movements and struggles for justice, particularly in the global south. As our youth activism intern you will work closely with our activists to make sure that the network runs smoothly, developing campaign resources, communications and support mechanisms as required. You will also recruit new activists to the network and help to advise them on their activities.

ECHO supports children and young people with heart conditions and their families, who have been treated within the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS network of 47 hospitals. Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect and affects just under 1 in every 100 babies born throughout the UK.

ECHO helps from diagnosis, which is often during pregnancy, throughout any treatment and care pathway or bereavement. Families are supported at every stage of their heart child’s journey throughout childhood, teenage years and during the transition to adult services.

ECHO’s new Engagement Coordinator will be confident, self-motivated, and capable of managing projects independently. They will be responsible for building strong relationships with stakeholders, coordinating engagement activities, and ensuring these are executed successfully.

Sitting within our supportive Community and Events Fundraising team, you will work alongside the Events Manager and Events Coordinators and focus on the Trust’s portfolio of challenge events for a fixed term maternity cover of up to 12 months.

In this role, you will:

• Collaborate to ensure an effective strategy is in place to grow income sustainably over time across our Events portfolio.
• Lead the development and implementation of the challenge event portfolio to deliver annual income targets.
• Oversee the delivery of excellent race experiences for TeamCF participants at high profile events such as the London Marathon.
• Inspire a vision of exceptional supporter stewardship for event participants, demonstrating relationship management through in-depth knowledge and understanding of supporter journeys.
• Manage delegated budgets and KPI’s by using financial planning tools to maintain expenditure within agreed tolerances and achieving income projections.

To be the right candidate for this role, you will:

• Have significant experience of mass challenge event and project management

• Have an in-depth understanding of Gift Aid and fundraising codes of practice

This is a role that requires some travel throughout the UK. You will be able to take Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) for this and claim travel and subsistence allowances.

The team all currently work from home and regularly keep in touch with online team meetings, individual catchups as required, as well as in person.

The existing postholder is also home-based, but we are open to candidates who would prefer a hybrid arrangement. If you are based at our London office, you would be expected to attend the office at least two days per week.

Overview:

• As COO you will be BeyondAutism’s second-in-command and be responsible for the financial well-being 
of the charity, financial and commercial strategy and day-to-day operational excellence.
• The overarching purpose of the COO position is to work with the CEO on defining the financial and 
operational strategy of BeyondAutism and then to implement it, thereby enabling the charity to deliver its 
charitable objects.
• You will provide strong leadership of the finance function, being proactive, outward facing and an 
exceptional manager of stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities
• Leadership and management of a senior team to deliver business plans in pursuance of the strategic 
objectives.
• Developing and leading the finance and operations functions (HR, Facilities, and Projects) so that they 
facilitate the growth and reach agenda.
• Provide leadership on Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimise BeyondAutism’s financial performance.
• With the CEO and Heads of Services, ensure that our regulatory services remain outstanding.
• To deputise for the CEO as required.
Strategic leadership
• Delivering results during a period of unpredictability, negotiating with and influencing senior stakeholders from 
a variety of disciplines (political, commercial, and Local Authority).
• Leading the operations functions so that they are proactive, outward-facing and viewed as an essential partner 
in the decision-making process.
• Increasing the commercial capability throughout the organisation, with a focus on delivering value for money 
through effective contract and supplier management.
• With the Heads of Services, review the model for service delivery as part of implementing the reach strategy. 
This will include the service models currently operating in London.
• Building and enacting transformational change to the commercial strategic decision making in collaboration 
with the CEO.
• With accountability for procurement and contract management, you will demonstrate ongoing improvement to 
processes and transparency, working to create a system in which it is faster and easier to satisfy Trustee 
scrutiny and meet accountability requirements.
• You will operate collegiately with the Senior Management Team to ensure we build effective customer 
relationships and deliver services that meet the needs of the end-user.
• You will be accountable for an Operational Blueprint that delivers growth for the organisation.
• Assess the revenue opportunity versus the risk and cost profile of the pricing/operating models.
• Advise on strategic implications resulting from legal and regulatory changes.
• Define and oversee adherence to policies and procedures.
• Own and apply commercial scrutiny.
• Establish and embed a system to track and monitor all contracts, tracking all changes regardless of risk 
attributed to the given clause.
• Localise and translate standard contract templates where applicable and maintain these templates.

Financial leadership and management
• Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future 
reach/growth.
• Ensure that all regulatory requirements are met including the Charity Commission, Ofsted and Company Law.
• Take a lead role along with the CEO in arranging finance in accordance with Trustee strategy.
• Ensure appropriate reporting of the month end is timely and informs decision making.
• Write and share a monthly analysis flagging key risks and, with the CEO, ensure actions are taken to mitigate 
risks.
• Provide reporting against budget/forecast, ensuring viability of each service within full cost recovery 
parameters.
• Provide executive summary reporting to Trustees.
• Lead the budget setting process, liaising effectively with each member of SMT and the finance team.
• Presentation of Budget to Trustees.
• Reflect and present information in appropriate formats for internal and external use.
• Take the lead as appropriate on specified projects, following our project management processes.

Projects
• Senior leadership oversight of the project portfolio, specifically driving sustainability and viability through our 
reach agenda.
• With the Projects Manager, ensure deadlines are met and projects are delivered within agreed budgets.
• Ensuring reporting is timely and data rich to underpin decision-making.
General responsibilities

As our Events & Community Coordinator, you’ll design and deliver a packed schedule of daytime events that help students build friendships, feel at home on campus, and make the most of their university life. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop and deliver a rolling programme of inclusive daytime events, including casual sports, entertainment, craft/hobby sessions, and intramural activities with student clubs.
2. Plan and run engaging events in the Engine Shed café/bar to increase footfall and create a social campus environment.
3. Build partnerships with local businesses and community groups to increase student engagement with the wider town and develop town-centre activations.
4. Coach and Support our Elected Officers with their independent campaign and event work, ensuring synergy between one’s own work, and that of the elected team.
5. Promote all events through digital channels and on-campus marketing.
6. Complete thorough risk assessments for all events, ensuring health, safety, and accessibility are prioritised.
7. Maintain accurate records of activities, feedback, and attendance to evaluate and improve impact.
8. Support wider Students’ Union events and cross-team campaigns as needed.
9. Support the Marketing Manager with the delivery of Open Day events and activities.

Overview:  

Spires supports homeless and vulnerably housed people in South London. Spires has undergone a period of rapid transformation, moving to a model of multi-site working across three London Boroughs. Our core services include, day centre style drop ins for homeless people, a Women’s drop in, a Refugee drop in and outreach targeted at supporting Women who are sex working.  
 
The Head of Fundraising and Communications will be joining the organisation at an exciting time. Recent successful funding outcomes provide a short period of relative funding stability and an opportunity for the post holder to develop our communications and community fundraising strategies.

Part 1:  Job profile 

 
1.1 Purpose of job 

To generate income from a diverse funding pool that includes trusts and foundations, legacy and individual giving, community giving, government contracts and corporate support. Trusts and foundations remain the primary funding source for Spires so maintaining consistent application output is a core element of the role.

Oversee Spires’ external relations and public profile. The post holder will be responsible for all communications and will look for areas to increase the organisations profile.

Work with Spires CEO and the Head of Client Services to ensure that data and outcomes are being effectively captured in a way that is helpful for evidencing impact.

1.2 Position in organisation 

The post holder joins Spires’ Senior Leadership Team and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The post holder will join the finance, fundraising and risk subcommittee which includes members of the board of trustees.

The post holder will manage the Communications and Community Engagement Lead who currently leads on community fundraising, social media and volunteer recruitment.

Part 2: Key duties and responsibilities 

2.1 Management Responsibilities 

• To manage the fundraising/communications staff and volunteers.

• Hold and record regular staff supervisions.

• Ensure that Spires’ policies are adhered to.

• Attend Spires’ managers meetings.

2.2 Income generation  

• Maximise existing and find new income to meet agreed income targets. 

• Research, write and present attractive propositions for a range of quality funding bids, proposals and documentation. 

• Produce and submit quality funding reports to meet deadlines.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fundraising regulations, networks and developments across the sector, advising on best practice 

2.3 Planning, monitoring and reporting  

• Contribute to the internal planning and budget setting, setting out clear plans for income generation. 

• Contribute to forecasting and regular reporting, producing verbal and written reports for the CEO and Board of Trustees. 

• Actively manage contracts to ensure that Spires is delivering agreed outcomes and spending restricted funds correctly.

2.4 General 

• Review and update the fundraising strategy.

• Undertaking other duties compatible with the level and nature of the post and/or reasonably required by more senior members of staff, including session cover 

• Attend and participate in staff and team meetings and other meetings as required

Part 3: Person specification 

3.1 Essential experience 

• Experience of working in the fundraising sector in a professional capacity 

• A demonstrable track record of successfully generating income and achieving targets

Part 4: Summary of terms and conditions of service 

Location: The postholder will be an employee of The Spires Centre. This post is based at 2nd Floor, Elmfield House, 5 Stockwell Mews, SW9 9GX This role will by hybrid with three days in the office and two days from home.

Probation: This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period.

Notice: This post is subject to an 12 weeks’ notice period once confirmed in post. 

Annual leave: The annual leave entitlement is 35 days per year including 8 bank holidays. 

Pension: The Spires Centre will contribute 5% of annual salary for those who qualify for our group pension plan. 

Other benefits: The Spires Centre will provide life and income protection insurance for those who qualify for our group plans.

Expenses: This role will require travel within the UK/London. Out-of-pocket expenses will be paid when incurred in accordance with our expenses policy.

The Marketing Manager leads the development and delivery of all marketing, communications, and branding activity at Northampton Students’ Union. This role is central to ensuring that all campaigns, messaging, and visual content reflect the Union’s strategic priorities and values—Courageous, Empowering, Authentic, Inclusive, and Innovative—while engaging and informing students, stakeholders, and the wider community. The postholder will drive a student-led, insight-informed communications culture that strengthens the SU’s brand, increases participation, and amplifies student voice.

Strategic Marketing & Brand Leadership:

1. Lead the implementation of the Union’s Marketing, Brand and Communications Strategy in alignment with the 2023–2027 Strategic Plan.
2. Create and oversee annual and in-year communications plans, supporting Union services and events with impactful, timely, and coordinated campaigns.
3. Ensure brand consistency and clarity across all physical and digital channels, reinforcing the SU’s reputation and values.
4. Develop and embed a compelling brand identity and tone of voice that reflects the SU’s purpose and is recognisable to students and stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Organisational Collaboration:

1. Manage and mentor a small marketing and design team, fostering innovation, inclusion, and professional growth.
2. Serve as the SU’s lead advisor on marketing and communications, supporting officers and staff with effective messaging and engagement strategies.
3. Represent the marketing function within operational leadership meetings and cross-functional projects.
4. Lead SU activity on University Open Days and Discovery Days, promoting the SU’s offer and student benefits to prospective students.
5. Oversee the relationship with the SU’s CRM provider, ensuring effective system use for campaigns and student engagement.

Campaigns & Content Delivery:

1. Plan and deliver integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital, print, and in-person channels.
2. Align campaign goals with departmental objectives, ensuring relevance to student needs and strategic outcomes.
3. Oversee the development of high-quality, student-relevant content, including social media, video, email, and web.
4. Track and evaluate campaign effectiveness using data and insights to guide future planning.
