Key responsibilities 

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director is responsible for shaping and driving the work of the organisation, in line with its mission, vision, and strategic plan. 

The Executive Director has responsibility for the effective management and financial sustainability of the organisation; for leading the team and developing HRI’s strategic vision and operational plans; for representing the organisation to external stakeholders and the media; and for championing an inclusive and collaborative culture that foregrounds racial justice and diversity. The Executive Director must also fulfil all the legal, ethical, fiduciary and financial obligations of the role. 

The Executive Director’s key responsibilities are:

Organisational leadership and governance 

• Shape, drive and champion the organisation's vision, strategy and big picture thinking 

• Maintain HRI’s role and reputation as a leading international influencer and convenor in the field of harm reduction and human rights

• Provide strong, clear and proactive leadership on racial justice and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

• Champion an inclusive, collaborative, high performance culture that attracts, retains and motivates a diverse, expert staff team

• Build and maintain relationships with key external partners and stakeholders, including NGOs, networks of people who use drugs, donors, UN agencies, national governments, and opinion formers.

• Represent and promote HRI at its own and other conferences and networking events, United Nations fora, donor meetings, key civil society initiatives, and in the media.

• Facilitate the Board of Trustees’ active engagement in scrutiny, strategic planning, and resourcing and financial management

• Keep the Board fully informed of the overall health and performance of the organisation, and all relevant factors influencing this

• Ensure the smooth operation of Board meetings and maintain a strong, balanced Board, with effective succession planning

Financial Management and Fundraising

• Develop a realistic annual budget and operational plan for approval by the Board and prepare budget revisions as needed 

• Ensure provision of regular financial management, monitoring and reporting to the Board

• Provide financial risk assessment reports and mitigation strategies to the Board in a timely fashion 

• Ensure the financial sustainability of HRI and its capacity to achieve its strategic objectives

• Devise and implement fundraising strategies and plans to ensure that the organisation can meet its operational budgetary needs 

• Identify and engage with fundraising prospects and sources, and cultivate relationships with current and prospective funders

Operational and Management

• Oversee all aspects of programme planning development and evaluation

• Ensure that all programme components are strategically coordinated and contribute to overall organisational objectives

• Oversee further development of a communications strategy that positions HRI effectively, protects its reputation, and identifies opportunities to promote its key messages and activities

• Recruit and manage staff, and ensure appropriate organisational structures with clear roles and responsibilities 

• Ensure regular performance evaluations, feedback loops, and training and professional development and education for all staff

• Manage administrative matters relating to staff, including legal and health and safety requirements, and required policies and processes 

• Oversee risk management and legal activities: letters of agreement, contracts, leases and other legal documents and agreements

• Implement appropriate policies, including internal controls and accounting standards and procedures

Our best offer for this position is £42,500 per annum.

The Role

Global Greengrants Fund UK is looking to hire an energetic and passionate individual who will play a key role in collaborating across teams to support finance and grantmaking. They are responsible for the smooth running of all transactional processes for grants, payments, reconciliations, and financial reporting. They will also lead on any applicable system enhancements thus offering a critical and wide-ranging systems support role for the grantmaking charity. They will ensure that financial transactions are properly allocated, recorded, and maintained and assist in the preparation of audit data as well as supporting project reporting to aid in the preparation of the annual statutory audit and project reports.

As part of the finance and operations team, they will join a growing team currently staffed by four members in the UK. In the present accountability structures, the Finance and Grants Officer, GGF UK is line managed by the Director of Finance and Operations, GGF UK while building and working in more collaborative ways.

The Candidate Profile

The successful applicant will have significant relevant experience in a similar role in a charitable, environmental, development, social justice, feminist, gender, human rights, and/or grantmaking organisation. They demonstrate knowledge and experience in charity/nonprofit grant accounting/financial issues and dealing with both financial and grant information and processes, understand accounting principles, and have knowledge of accounting, grantmaking, and budgeting processes. They have cash management, banking, and payment experiences. They demonstrate excellent administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to ensure the accuracy of work and demonstrate precise attention to detail. They will have the skills to give, receive, and work with feedback constructively. They also thrive in a virtual environment, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions. Multiple language skills would be ideal, while English fluency is a must.

The Role: 

As the Partnerships Officer, you will support the Partnerships Team on business development, managing a portfolio of small trusts, foundations, and donors, as well as researching new opportunities. 

Our places and volunteers are crucial to us. They know their communities best. This role will support our local Delivery teams to build new partnerships and grow our places. The role will also platform the voices of our volunteers to lead the development of our services.  This post will play a key role in the Partnerships Team. 

Your core responsibilities will consist of supporting the Partnerships team & wider organisation in growing Volunteering Matters and its family of brands. Managing a portfolio of small trusts, foundations, and donors; supporting the Partnerships team & wider organisation with relationship management of major donors as well as developing and researching opportunities for business development with regional partners and stakeholders.

• Support the Partnerships team and wider organisation to grow Volunteering Matters locally. 
• Manage a portfolio of small trusts, foundations, and donors, including leading on small trust applications & reports.
• Support the Partnerships Team with the management of major trusts, foundations, and donors.
• Play a key role in the upkeep of our library of information. 
• Stay updated on local opportunities and feed into place-based plan.

The Role

The PR Manager plays a central role, working closely with the Head of Media to manage the public relations function of the charity. You will be responsible for helping to develop and execute prominent and high impact national and regional media campaigns, to help people better understand the mission and take action to support it.

Your main duties and responsibilities include:

· Generate regular, positive, proactive media coverage

· Proactively sell stories into the media as well as react to incoming enquiries

· Work with the Head of Media to develop impactful press strategies in line with the wider PR strategy

Alzheimer’s Society’s Safeguarding and Quality team are looking for a Senior Quality Safeguarding Officer who will provide expert safeguarding advice, audit and quality assurance support in relation to safeguarding across Alzheimer’s Society, enabling our people to provide excellent, safe services to people affected by dementia.  Working in a team of Quality Safeguarding Officers, the senior officer will take a leading role in holding and managing more complex caseload, providing support and expert advice to the team and deputising for the manager as required. 

Senior Quality Safeguarding Officers will be safeguarding specialists with a strong knowledge base and competency in managing complex environments related to safeguarding in practice. They will be skilled in the development, delivery and implementation of quality assurance functions to ensure that safeguarding is of the highest quality. They will support teams delivering activities which support the Society’s understanding of the quality of the services it delivers to people affected by dementia to support in the delivery of excellence.

About you

• Experience of working towards financial targets and KPI’s. With a proven track record in achieving financial and non-financial targets in a community/fundraising capacity.
• Experience with stakeholder management, relationship building and communication skills, with the skills to persuade, motivate and inspire external audiences.

Working closely with the Chief Executive, you will review current fundraising activities and communications to develop the existing income generation strategy to meet the charity’s strategic objectives.  You will be responsible for leading a team of three, to enable them to reach their individual marketing, community fundraising and fundraising administration goals. 

You will play a vital part in leading the income growth and expansion of the charity, as per the long-term organisational strategy, through proactively securing and developing existing support throughout the region. This will be through a variety of income streams including individual giving, in-memory donations, legacy donations, major donors, corporates and community.

About you

The successful candidate will have energy, ideas, skills, and a proven fundraising track record (or transferable experience of managing and developing diverse funding streams and effective communications).

You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, including networking, and good IT and social media skills.  You will need a full UK driving licence, be self-motivated and the ability to work well alone and with others.

Role responsibilities 

As the Initial Support Lead, you will: 

• work innovatively to shape the concept of an Initial Support Pathway, with a view to assisting agencies in identifying, safeguarding, and supporting potential adult victims. This may require the delivery of awareness raising sessions, whilst also working closely with First Responders to tactically advise in a manner that secures the best outcome for victims. 

• lead on the provision of direct support to potential victims of trafficking, ensuring they receive independent advocacy, helping them navigate services, benefits, and the advice they need.

The Initial Support Pathway will provide short-term support to adults who have experienced exploitation. The pathway initially focuses on the individual’s basic needs such as safety, food, clothing, accommodation, subsistence, and access to medical services. The project then considers each individual’s rights and entitlement to support as a potential victim of modern slavery. The key principle of the project is informed choice for the individual. Although the initial support is short and temporary, the long-term impacts for victims can be significant. 

Essential role requirements 

• Experience in health, social work, or working with vulnerable adults. 

• Knowledge of the impact of modern slavery and human trafficking on an individual. 

• A good understanding and awareness of the rights and entitlements (including immigration, housing, and benefits legislation) of migrants, trafficked persons, asylum seekers and refugees. 

• Able to work autonomously and take initiative working under pressure. 

• To provide trauma informed care.

• Experience of developing service delivery including partnership engagement. 

• Take a lead approach in multi-disciplinary settings ensuring best outcomes for individuals. 

• Proven experience of carrying out needs and/or risk assessments and the support planning process. 

• An empathetic and compassionate outlook, whilst being able to maintain professional boundaries with those you work with.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with a range of audiences. 

• Travel across Derby and Derbyshire is key to this role. The candidate will need to have a vehicle and valid driving licence. Mileage costs to be reimbursed.   

• Good people skills especially with those whom English is not the first language. 

• Ability to communicate with individuals via interpreters.

• Discretion and work in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

Do you want to be part of a team leading the field in the development of private investment into nature’s recovery? 

In the past 18 months, The Trusts have been developing new approaches to funding nature’s recovery from the private sector, utilising novel revenue approaches such as nutrient neutrality credits and the voluntary carbon market amongst others. They have developed finance mechanisms to sit alongside these revenue streams such as a philanthropic loan system. They now want to scale up this work to help The Trusts and others to scale nature’s recovery across Wales. They need to turn policy into strong principles that allows us to develop guidelines and templates to help the Trusts across Wales access green finance. 

Our client need dedicated expertise and capacity to work with the Trusts to bring this work into a coherent strategy, develop models and plans that build revenues for nature’s recovery allowing much greater investment. This post is designed to provide that expertise and capacity to work alongside those Trust staff that are already committed to developing these programmes.
