Essex & Herts Air Ambulance has an exciting opportunity for an Aviation Director to join the Executive Team and to be responsible for all aspects of aviation and other, non-clinical, operational activities.  Also, as part of EHAAT’s strategic plan to gain its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in late 2025, the Aviation Director will form and lead the new AOC team supported by our experienced AOC transition Programme Manager.  As the AOC Accountable Manager, they will be responsible for all aspects of the safe, compliant and effective operation of our 2 AW169 helicopters in their life-saving role.

ABOUT US

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, unlike NHS emergency services, is a charity. This free life-saving service is provided 24/7 by helicopters and rapid response vehicles.

Each critical care team consists of a pilot and co-pilot, a pre-hospital care doctor and a critical care paramedic.

They can be rushed to the scene with life-saving support equipment to deliver advanced clinical care, usually only in the hospital emergency department.

Once stabilised, the patient will be conveyed to the most appropriate hospital by air or land.

Without access to National Lottery funding and with only limited support from Government, we rely upon the generosity and goodwill of the people and businesses of Essex and Hertfordshire to remain operational and keep saving lives…we can’t fly without you!

The role

As National Support Coordinator you will provide support to our members living with a rare neuromuscular condition, myasthenia, their families, and carers. You will work alongside three additional National Support Coordinators and a Benefits and Welfare Officer, ensuring our members receive the support they need, via telephone, zoom meetings and email.

We are looking for someone that is willing to work a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. There may be the need to occasionally work during weekends and evenings and therefore there is a need to work flexibly when required. All evening and weekend work is agreed in advance.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working within the charity/healthcare sectors or of a similar role.

A keen interest in or a knowledge/experience of charitable support provision is essential. We are a looking for an innovative self-starter to join our small national team of 15 staff. Who are we?

Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia. 

We are working hard to raise awareness, as it is a little-unknown condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the illness. 

We also fund the research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors. 

Members of myaware have full access to a wide range of support services and events including access to specialist benefits advise.

Myaware supports people with myasthenia and their families.  We campaign for better medical services for people with myasthenia and work to inform medical professionals. 

The myasthenia’s are a group of neuromuscular conditions. They are rare but also manageable and can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or nationality. Myasthenia gravis, ocular myasthenia, and Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome are autoimmune conditions whereas congenital myasthenic syndrome is caused by an inherited genetic fault. It is thought that there are approximately 20,000 people currently living with myasthenia in the UK.

The Job

The Learning Networks Portfolio Manager will:

• Report to the Managing Director

• Be employed on a permanent contract

The Role In Brief

This position plays a central role in the delivery of Koreo’s work; responsible for a portfolio of the company’s biggest and most established programmes. It will be a varied role and will require someone to lead project teams in the design and delivery of high quality national learning programmes, while also playing a key role in the development of Koreo as an organisation
better able to build a just and regenerative future.

1. Responsible for the successful delivery and development of a portfolio of national learning programmes and projects. This portfolio of work is primarily focused on cross-sector learning programmes that bring cohorts of people together around learning missions. Examples include Civic Futures and the London Engagement Collaborative
with the GLA.
2. Responsible for sustaining and growing the portfolio, and with it Koreo’s profile, network, and income. This might be focused on developing the existing programmes in the portfolio, or could include wider writing, public speaking, pitching and networking
which support the distribution of the work.
3. An internal leadership role in developing a just and inclusive culture in which a diverse team can do its best work. This includes line management of one Project Coordinator, development of organisational practice and process, and work with the team on culture and development.

● An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of stakeholders, with excellent verbal and written skills.

Operational Excellence:

● Experience working in a role which required excellent project planning, management & reporting. 

● Experience working in a role in which you were responsible for building and then delivering against project budgets.

● Experience working with a CRM to manage relationships and programmes of work. 

● An ability to organise and manage yourself, to work and deliver at pace to a high standard across a number of projects, to spot and solve problems as part of a proactive attitude.

● An ability to cope well with competing demands and changing environments, demonstrating flexibility and an ability to work in different settings and with different people.

Development & External Influencing:

● An understanding of the landscape of social change work, with a particular focus on UK non-profit and public sectors and the needs of people, organisations and networks in this space. 

● Experience of winning, and/or growing projects or programmes of work to deliver on a business development target. This may be through growing existing projects, writing proposals/tender responses, or by taking a new idea from concept to operational delivery. Experience of doing this in an equivalent context is desirable.

● An ability to influence externally, with a particular focus on the production of content (in the form of blogs, articles, reports, videos, infographics) that support campaigns and external influencing.

About Pancreatic Cancer Action:

Pancreatic Cancer Action (PCA) was founded in 2010 by a rare survivor of the disease. We are a small, creative and passionate team committed to improving early diagnosis and saving lives. In August 2020, Pancreatic Cancer Action merged with Pancreatic Cancer Scotland making our team stronger than ever. 

Pancreatic cancer has only a 7% survival rate and this figure has not improved significantly for over 50 years. Despite it being the 5th biggest cancer killer in the UK, pancreatic cancer receives only 3% of overall research funding. 

With a strong focus on early diagnosis, it is Pancreatic Cancer Action’s aim to improve survival rates through raising awareness, medical education, improved patient information and by funding research specifically into the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Simply put, we want more people diagnosed in time for surgery, currently the only potential for a cure.

Main responsibilities:  

• Develop and grow the annual programme of fundraising events such as the London Marathon and Great North Run.
• Grow and steward a pipeline of new and existing community and events audiences and fundraising opportunities with a particular focus on England. Ensuring to always maintain the highest quality supporter journey.
• Manage the delivery of the virtual challenge events. Add insight and support the annual Pancreatic Awareness Month Campaign and help to further develop Pyjama’s for Pan Can to new audiences.
• As a senior member of the Income Generation Team you will contribute to robust financial planning, management and reporting of income and expenditure in your own areas of expertise.
• Responsible for the delivery and recruitment into PCA’s Challenge Events programme making sure participants receive exceptional supporter care.
• Develop compelling and engaging third party fundraising materials to inspire supporters to reach their maximum fundraising targets.
• Contribute to the development of automated and integrated supporter journey and engagement plans with the support of the Head of Income Generation to ensure a consistent and efficient supporter experience.
• Seek out engagement opportunities to support donor acquisition and retention utilising new and existing channels and platforms.
• You will be an excellent relationship manager who can maintain accurate records on our CRM system (Salesforce) to ensure that we develop, engage and update our supporters.
• Work closely with colleagues in Marketing and Communications, to create engaging products and community and event campaigns. Updating the fundraising section of the PCA website and other third party platforms with compelling content and seamless user journeys.
• Be competent at data inputting, IT literate and very organised. Empathy and excellent communication skills are vital in this role and the candidate must be able to collaborate and work well as part of a team.
• Attending when necessary, external events, conferences and exhibitions across the UK and being the face of Pancreatic Cancer Action, acknowledging that some of these may involve overnight stays and weekends.

Income and targets

• Help to grow Pancreatic Cancer Action’s income from community and challenge event fundraisers.
• Develop ongoing stewardship journey for Community/DIY Fundraisers and increase average gift though exceptional supporter care.
• Achieve Financial and non-financial targets and KPI’s from corporate and community fundraising as agreed with the Head of Income Generation.
• Monitor and control allocated fundraising budgets and regularly update the Head of Income Generation.
• Prepare and monitor reporting for all online fundraising platforms to fit with our accounting systems reporting this to the Head of Income Generation monthly.
• Contribute to Pancreatic Cancer Action’s fundraising strategy.

Fauna & Flora is seeking a highly experienced professional to manage it’s fundraising from a portfolio of statutory (government and multilateral) donors, such as Defra, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service etc.

You will support colleagues and partners to develop high-quality proposal packages for priority donors, and ensure their timely submission. You will coordinate proposals and reporting internally, and ensure all documents produced for donors meet their criteria, as well as follow Fauna & Flora approval and submission procedures. There is a strong capacity development element to this work, and you will share knowledge, learning and resources across Fauna & Flora to maximise success rate and promote best practice in grant management and donor stewardship. You may also develop and deliver training packages, in Cambridge and potentially overseas. You will monitor Fauna & Flora’s activities in statutory fundraising and fund management within your portfolio, and support internal decision-making and strategy development by sharing this learning.

Experience of working with government funding sources, be they bilateral and/or multilateral, is essential for this role. You will have proven experience of securing restricted funding from government sources, and a strong understanding of how statutory donors and funding programmes support the achievement of international targets and government priorities. Knowledge of and experience in biodiversity conservation, the development sector, and/or climate is an asset; a commitment to learning and supporting these sectors is essential. You may have worked in the non-profit sector, such as international development, or have a background in bid management, proposal development, and grant fundraising.

Strong relationship-management and communications skills are essential to the role, to develop positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regional teams, non-governmental partners, and government agencies. You will be diplomatic and persuasive, and your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to coordinate people and processes to meet timelines. You will be a strong team player and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where the ability to respond swiftly to changing organisational and team needs is paramount. With a proactive and pre-emptive approach to your work, you will seek to add value and work with minimal supervision.

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Skills in languages relevant to Fauna & Flora’s programme (e.g., French, Spanish, Bahasa) are highly desirable. Sensitivity to the different working environments and capacities of colleagues around the world is also essential.

The role will include prospect research, setting up meetings, making calls, giving presentations, writing proposals, implementing stewardship plans, and actively engaging supporters with our work.

We are offering the role as hybrid or home based. We have offices in Salisbury or Retford. Regular travel across the UK will be required to meet potential supporters and attendance at monthly face to face Partnership meetings (usually in Birminghan) and occasional Plantlife events.

Our Business Development department is integral to the success of our organisation and we are looking for an experienced, organised and driven individual to fulfil the role of Head of Business Development. 

We are looking for someone who is comfortable in leading and co-ordinating a team. You will lead and operationally manage the department in our external business development engagement activities as well as our internal, cross-departmental collaboration working towards our ‘Evolve Strategy’.

You will have a clear and demonstrable understanding of configuring, organising and developing business development strategies and an understanding of how an awarding body operates particularly within the education landscape. 

A proactive communication style, strong organisation and interpersonal skills and a decisive nature are key qualities required in this role. You will operate in a flexible and predominantly remote working environment; therefore a demonstrable experience of working using your own initiative alongside a desire to innovate and test new ways of working are essential. 

Your team will be supported by a Business Development Co-ordinator and two Business Development Managers, each focused on retention of business and new business (New Business Development Manager to be recruited). Additionally, a team of Business Development Officers and Centre Engagement Executives also support the team. 

We view this role as an integral part of successfully delivering our strategy. You will have the opportunity to shape the way your department operates to support the needs of the business as well as our centres. 

The role fits within the wider Leadership Team and working closely with other HODs and Managers will be a key ingredient to success. 

Role purpose: 

• Set & deliver the Business Development Strategy alongside the Director of Engagement that supports growth, reach, and impact of Leadership Skills Foundation programmes. 
• Drive operational progress by developing positive and proactive working relationships with other Heads of Department.
• Influence the future direction of the Leadership Skills Foundation as a member of the Leadership Team.

The main resposnsibiltiies will be:

• Effectively manage and develop the Business Development Team and relationship management functions to meet agreed budgets and maximise learner/programme registrations.
• Accountable for the Business Development team’s sales planning and forecasting including annual budgeting.
• Regularly developing and presenting clear insight and analysis on market activity, responsibilities, and opportunities.
• Work closely with the Head of Marketing & Communications and New Business Development Manager to devise and deliver targeted new business campaigns and activities.
• Work closely with the Retained Business Development Manager to devise and deliver strategies to retain and grow our centres.
• Work with the Business Development Coordinator to ensure engagement processes and the customer journey meet the needs of centres efficiently.
• Maintain a working knowledge and up to date awareness of the sectors, market audiences and landscape the Leadership Skills Foundation works with.

Head of (HOD) Responsibilities

• Implement the one company/vision/culture and demonstrate its impact.
• To carry out environmental scanning to recognize opportunities and challenges and formulate appropriate actions to position the Foundation in line with its agreed objectives.
• To implement and develop appropriate business management capabilities and practices across the organisation.
• To operationally implement the strategy and set work expectations as agreed by the Board and the SLT.

Skills, experience and knowledge 

• An understanding of education systems in the UK 
• Previous experience in a sales environment and understanding sales processes. 
• Experience of managing pipeline systems
• A proven track record of delivering income growth 
• Analytical thinking and evaluation skills
• Ability to present information concisely using Microsoft Office programmes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
• Leadership capabilities

Desirable 

• Previous experience of managing a sales team and managing direct reports
• An understanding of awarding bodies and their operating landscape 
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI

We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Advocate to join our team covering Bedfordshire. Your role will require you to travel to locations such as clients’ homes, hospitals, care homes and within community settings across the area to meet with clients and professionals. You will be home based for administration; therefore, access to your own transportation and a suitable home internet connection is essential.

Working alongside the existing Community Fundraiser in London, this role will engage with the Dioceses in Westminster, Brentford & East Anglia to establish and strengthen links to individual bishops and diocesan communications staff. Attend parishes to deliver weekend fundraising appeals as well as giving talks and presentations to parish groups. Developing strong links for the organisation with educational and pastoral networks in Schools, Colleges and Universities in order to build relationships and support them in delivering the organisation's Schools Programme and expanding the take up of the programme, increasing school engagement and delivering assemblies in person and virtually.

This post reports to the Head of Community Outreach in support of objectives set out in the organisation's overall 10-year plan.
