The Job

The Learning Networks Portfolio Manager will:

• Report to the Managing Director

• Be employed on a permanent contract

• Be based remote or hybrid, with regular travel to London

• Be paid a pro rata full-time equivalent salary of £45,000-50,000

The Role In Brief

This position plays a central role in the delivery of Koreo’s work; responsible for a portfolio of the company’s biggest and most established programmes. It will be a varied role and will require someone to lead project teams in the design and delivery of high quality national learning programmes, while also playing a key role in the development of Koreo as an organisation
better able to build a just and regenerative future.

1. Responsible for the successful delivery and development of a portfolio of national learning programmes and projects. This portfolio of work is primarily focused on cross-sector learning programmes that bring cohorts of people together around learning missions. Examples include Civic Futures and the London Engagement Collaborative
with the GLA.
2. Responsible for sustaining and growing the portfolio, and with it Koreo’s profile, network, and income. This might be focused on developing the existing programmes in the portfolio, or could include wider writing, public speaking, pitching and networking
which support the distribution of the work.
3. An internal leadership role in developing a just and inclusive culture in which a diverse team can do its best work. This includes line management of one Project Coordinator, development of organisational practice and process, and work with the team on culture and development.

● Experience of a role with responsibility for the leadership of a team or portfolio of projects.

● Experience of strategy development and implementation, either at a programmatic or an organisational level.

Programme Management & Delivery:

● Experience of leading the design and delivery of learning programmes in an equivalent environment. 

● Experience leading projects which required the effective management of a range of stakeholders through project and programme work. You will be able to demonstrate how you have engaged with those stakeholders to build their connection with and investment in the project, and how you managed that work. 

● Experience of designing and facilitating learning/collaboration/experimentation spaces for individuals and groups, either in an organisational or programmatic context. 

● Skills & Knowledge which enable you to design high quality programmes and learning spaces, to support individuals with their learning, and to facilitate group spaces. 

● A familiarity with subjects relevant to Koreo’s work is essential. Successful candidates will likely be interested in subjects like collective impact, new approaches to power, working in and with complex systems, organisational design and psychology, participatory futures, activism and organising, multi-disciplinary practice, and much more that we don’t know about yet.

● An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of stakeholders, with excellent verbal and written skills.

Operational Excellence:

● Experience working in a role which required excellent project planning, management & reporting. 

● Experience working in a role in which you were responsible for building and then delivering against project budgets.

● Experience working with a CRM to manage relationships and programmes of work. 

● An ability to organise and manage yourself, to work and deliver at pace to a high standard across a number of projects, to spot and solve problems as part of a proactive attitude.

● An ability to cope well with competing demands and changing environments, demonstrating flexibility and an ability to work in different settings and with different people.

Development & External Influencing:

● An understanding of the landscape of social change work, with a particular focus on UK non-profit and public sectors and the needs of people, organisations and networks in this space. 

● Experience of winning, and/or growing projects or programmes of work to deliver on a business development target. This may be through growing existing projects, writing proposals/tender responses, or by taking a new idea from concept to operational delivery. Experience of doing this in an equivalent context is desirable.

● An ability to influence externally, with a particular focus on the production of content (in the form of blogs, articles, reports, videos, infographics) that support campaigns and external influencing. 

People & Culture

● An ability to building positive relationships in a small, busy and ambitious team, leading and able to hold relationships with colleagues and our wider community.

● A commitment to your own personal development and learning, and an understanding of how that development will be supported by your work at Koreo.

It’s desirable, but not essential that the person has:

● Experience of designing and delivering cross sector learning networks.

About the Youth Endowment Fund 

We’re here to prevent children from becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to change things.  

In recent years, violent crime involving children has increased. This is a tragedy. Every child is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment that exists to reverse this trend. We will achieve this by finding out what works to prevent youth violence and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. We do this by funding, evaluating and then spreading the very best work on reducing youth violence across England and Wales. 

Central to this is the evaluation team.  The team is responsible for commissioning and monitoring complex and rigorous impact evaluations from experts in the field.

The Senior Evaluation Manager will play a key role in supporting the Assistant Director of Evaluation to lead elements of evaluation work. The post holder will also lead a team of two Evaluation Managers, ensuring they have the support to deliver a portfolio of evaluation projects. 

Key responsibilities 

The core of your job is to ensure that we are excellent at evaluation, so we can find out the best ways to prevent children and young people from becoming involved in violence. 

Evaluation 

Working with the Head of Evaluation the post holder will: 

• Implement the processes to assess the quality of evidence presented in funding applications and provide funding recommendations to the Grants and Evaluation Committee. 

• Shape the evaluation approach for individual grant rounds, including leading on this for a small number of rounds. 

• Provide technical expertise on evaluation to the team and lead the development of YEF’s thinking on one or more areas of evaluation. 

• Lead the delivery of YEF’s evaluation work, designing, commissioning and managing complex and large-scale evaluations. 

• Be responsible for YEF’s evaluation policies and reporting templates, ensuring they remain consistent and fit for purpose. 

• Be responsible for the ongoing development of YEF’s commissioning guidance. 

Team management 

The post holder will likely lead the recruitment, management and development of a team of Evaluation Officers and will: 

• Ensure they have the knowledge, skills and support to carry out their work effectively. 

• Provide regular feedback and coaching on written outputs. 

• Supervise and project manage the team’s evaluation work, providing quality assurance and monitoring of progress against project plans and project budgets. 

Collaborative working 

The post holder will contribute to the wider YEF team and will: 

• Be accountable to YEF’s Fund Leadership Team for the delivery of evaluations, making sure they are on time and on budget, including reporting on risks and issues. 

• Work closely with colleagues across YEF and specifically the Programme team. 

• Ensure high-quality evidence is at the heart of all YEF activity and that the evidence we produce is communicated in a clear and accessible way which will drive sustainable change. 

• Support the management of YEF’s panel of evaluators and expert panel. 

General 

The post holder may be involved in other elements of YEF's projects, working with senior colleagues to commission, scope and deliver projects. 

About you 

You are this sort of person: 

• You don't want your days to pass without making a difference. You want to play a significant part in reducing the level of violence involving young people and see the value in an evidence-informed approach.   

• You are an excellent communicator. You can produce technical documents that accurately report methodological and statistical information. You will combine this with experience of communicating complex evidence and analysis in a simple and accessible format to non- experts. 

• You have a post-graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in social science, social policy, public health, health services or other fields, with a significant quantitative component, or relevant experience equivalent to a Masters qualification. 

• You have strong knowledge, experience and technical expertise in evaluation methodologies including the ability to critically appraise the design of a variety of different evaluation designs. 

• You have quantitative analysis skills including experience of using advanced analytical software such as R, Stata or SPSS. 

• You have significant experience in carrying out or commissioning research including designing all aspects of the research and managing external contractors.  This may be in academia, government or a related sector. 

• You have strong relationship management skills. You are comfortable working with a wide range of people, including senior academics and other research experts, children and their families, practitioners, and policy makers. You’re able to provide constructive challenge when required.

• You bring the best out of your colleagues.  You have experience in leading teams and managing others to achieve amazing results. You can both take and give direction. You are collaborative and a team player, able to build strong relationships across the whole organisation. You are happy to help out when and where it’s needed.

Hybrid working details

CVAA UK is a membership organisation supporting not-for-profit adoption agencies across the UK who specialise in finding homes for children in care. Over 3000 children in the UK need adoption each year because they cannot remain at home or with family members. The CVAA Practice Programme delivers 30 or more online courses each year to those working in the sector, primarily social workers. The programme has developed a strong reputation for attracting a range of subject experts to deliver cost effective, engaging and useful training. The full programme is listed on the CVAA UK website and inlcudes topics such as LGBTQ+ parenting; therapy for children; identity formation; racism and anti-racism; parenting courses; theraplay and many more.

Due to a restructure of the team, we are now looking for a Training Manager who can oversee the delivery of the programme from mid to late July 2024. Initially fixed term, it is anticipated that this post will become permanent.

The Training Manager will work with the Head of Practice Development and the Programme Administrator to ensure that the courses are full, delivered effectively and evaluated. Part of the role will also be to source new trainers and support the creation of the programme into 2025.

The CVAA team work remotely across the UK so location of the postholder is not a barrier to recruitment as long as long as they can travel occasionally and come into London for team days. The team is small, diverse and dynamic. Experience of project management or delivery of training or events is more important than knowledge of adoption or children's social care. Job Purpose - Facilities Manager - Projects 

The role holder will report directly to the Head of Estates whilst working closely with the Facilities Manager and the wider team, as well as operational colleagues.

The role holder will be responsible for the delivery of specific ad hoc estates projects, whilst also providing support to the wider Estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual activity to ensure the development of an estate that delivers outstanding outcomes for the people we support, ensuring the portfolio is managed safely, cost effectively and in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

This role requires an individual with strong project management capability within an estate’s environment, with a demonstrable track record of delivery of projects on time, to Budget and to the requisite level of quality.

Reporting directly to the Head of Estates, the role holder will: 

• Lead the estates input in the expansion of the existing property footprint.
• Onboard new additions to the estate’s property portfolio efficiently and effectively.
• Work collaboratively with operational colleagues ensuring “best outcomes” are delivered for the people we support in the development and maintenance of the estate.
• Support the wider estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual activities.
• Be visible and on site to ensure the smooth running of projects and the timely resolution of issues. 

Dimensions

Whilst the role currently has no direct reports assigned, the level of project activity and the consequential resource requirements will determine any additional staffing needs. The nature of individual projects will determine this although it is anticipated that project spend will be circa £0.5m+ per annum.

Principal Accountabilities

Estates and Facilities Management 

• Responsibility: Act as the senior estates and facilities professional on project work assigned. 

• Project Plans: Ensure there is a clear and documented estates plan for each project assigned and lead the implementation of these plans to ensure best possible outcomes for the people we support. In the planning and delivery of projects, the role holder must ensure that due consideration is given to operational requirements. 

• Project Performance: Ensure a robust contract performance management framework is in place for each project. 

• Regulatory: Ensure all project work is undertaken in accordance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements. 

• Resource Management: Manage and co-ordinate both AFG staff and external contractors in the delivery of projects. Where required mitigating actions/plans may need to be taken to ensure that projects are delivered to requirements. 

• Onboarding: With support from the Head of Estates, lead the estates input re. property acquisition (both support with the identification of appropriate property and subsequent due diligence). 

• Expansion: With support from the Head of Estates, lead the estates input re. the expansion of existing estates footprint. 

• Business Cases: Prepare business cases, feasibility studies for consideration by the Head of Estates and onwards by the Executive/Director team. 

• Business as Usual Estates Activity: The role holder will be required to work alongside the Estates Manager and the wider estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual estates activity (including site visits, contract monitoring meetings, supervision of reactive repairs etc.), where project requirements mean the role holder has capacity to undertake this work. 

Financial Management

• Financial Performance: Manage project related budgets, ensuring projects are delivered to Budget, to the requisite quality and to time. 

• Procurement: Work closely with the Procurement team to source potential suppliers for services and ensure those services are sourced on a “Value for money” (VFM) basis, and in accordance with the terms of the Scheme of Reservation and Delegation. 

• Tenders: Working closely with the Procurement function of the Charity, take the estates lead in tender activity where assigned, ensuring that activity is undertaken in accordance with the Scheme of Reservation and Delegation. 

• Cost Reduction/Service Improvement: Lead in ensuring we are continually striving to reduce cost/improve service provision. 

• Commercial Acumen: Commercially savvy to drive continuous improvement opportunities (both financial and operational). 

Sustainability, Efficiency, and Innovation 

• Estates Development: Ensure development activity within the estate takes account of environmental considerations/technological advances in the go-forward design.

• Experienced in managing contractors and sub-contractors including conflict resolution.
• Experience in both the development of and management of financial Budgets and Reforecasts.
• Experience in undertaking property related “due diligence”.
• Experienced in the preparation and presentation of business cases for consideration by the Head of Estates.
• Experience of working with a Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system.
• Able to develop frameworks to understand a problem, identify practical options to solve the problem, and identify the most optimal solution.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Service Development and Management 

• To work with the Head of Integration & Employment (I & E), Business Development and Fundraising departments to create opportunities for the Integration Service to grow in line with our Integration Service Model.
• To ensure services are well planned, managed and delivered to a very high standard in accordance with organisational and funder agreements.

Staff & Volunteer Management 

• To support the recruitment of all new staff required within Refugee Council working on the Integration projects.
• To line manage a wide range of service delivery roles in accordance with the Refugee Council’s policies and procedures including carrying out supervision and appraisal and staff development.

Specialist Advice, Advocacy and Influencing 

• To support caseworkers to provide specialist advice and support to adult refugees in a sensitive, confidential, and professional manner which fully understands the needs of the individual.
• To continually develop an in-depth understanding of the issues affecting newly recognised refugees with a view to becoming and retaining specialist knowledge of refugees and the barriers that can prevent them from integrating effectively.

We have a rare opportunity for an exceptional project manager to join us and work with an experienced team on the delivery of a £2m+ project supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund to improve access, through opportunity and conservation, to the glorious landscape of the River Eden, East Cumbria.

Access to Eden:breaking barriers, building bridges aims to break down the physical, social and cultural barriers that prevent people from accessing the natural heritage of Eden and build the bridges needed to give them the confidence to enjoy our blue and green spaces. We intend to remove barriers for Eden’s special wildlife, connect habitats and promote nature recovery.

With 13 organisations signed up as part of our partnership, together we will break barriers and build bridges for people AND nature in the Eden Valley, Cumbria.

The clue is in the title. It’s all about making Eden’s rivers and nature more accessible to those who experience the greatest barriers. From opening up doorstep green spaces, promoting walking, cycling, swimming, paddle sports, practical conservation, wildlife surveys, quiet enjoyment … and even virtual enjoyment of the river environment.

About the Role

The role requires a well-structured and highly organised approach, to ensure delivery and reporting is of the highest quality and a creative and proactive approach, to navigate challenges and hold others to account, when needed. The project management aspect of the role requires someone who is an excellent communicator with responsibility to oversee Service Level Agreements (agreed outputs, outcomes and communications) between the organisation and Youth Zones, and their relationships with funders.. The MCS Foundation are a leading UK charity working on decarbonising homes, heat and energy, with a particular focus on managing the innovative Local Area Retrofit Accelerator programme.

As Programme Manager, you will develop, coordinate and manage a range of projects sitting under the Foundation's Programme area. The projects place the Foundation at the centre of the sector and make progress towards the Foundation's goal of decarbonising all homes in the UK.

In this exciting, newly created role, you will manage projects sitting under the Programmes area of the charity. This is a new area for the Foundation and builds on their work providing grants to third-party organisations. They now want to take a more active role in the delivery of interventions and this role will be key to developing the right interventions and ensuring they deliver the required benefits. The role will be collaborating with other organisations and will involve managing relationships with a range of stakeholders and delivery partners.

A particular focus will be on managing the innovative Local Area Retrofit Accelerator programme. Through this programme, the Foundation will be working with localities around the UK to support local authorities and other key stakeholders in accelerating retrofit at scale by developing and delivering initiatives that will unlock supply and demand side barriers.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Programme Manager with significant knowledge of project management, partnership working and domestic energy efficiency/low carbon heating. Experience of delivering domestic retrofit-related projects, defined as home energy efficiency or heating improvements to reduce energy consumption or carbon would be hugely beneficial - however if not, a strong understanding and knowledge in this area will be crucial. You must be passionate about driving practical solutions to the climate emergency and happy working in a small team, with the ability to work across all levels with the need to be hands on.

We are now launching pilot programmes Sierra Leone and as the International Programme Manager, you will manage the launch and delivery of these programmes and be passionate about ensuring young people are given opportunities to learn, earn and thrive.

You will work with various stakeholders, from a mixture of governments, NGOs, corporate partners and employers to support them to deliver safe and impactful programmes to agreed targets. You will report on progress to both internal and external stakeholders, becoming the local partners’ ‘critical friend’ and focal point of contact, and support them in setting up new programmes. This may include delivering programme design, training and producing toolkits and resources, and developing evaluation frameworks. You will work with local partners on all aspects of programme delivery, from project implementation, review, monitoring and evaluation and budget management. 

You will have extensive experience of supporting organisations to deliver safe and impactful programmes, with a good understanding of skills development programmes, especially in relation to employability, entrepreneurship and education. This will be coupled with significant experience of working in Sub-Saharan Africa.
