The Charity

The Youth Adventure Trust is a youth development charity working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16 years old from Somerset, Wiltshire and Swindon. Our outdoor activity based YAT Adventure Programme enables young people to challenge themselves, experience success, learn to go beyond their own expectations and grow in confidence. Through a series of residential camps and day activities they are able to build resilience, self esteem and develop social and life skills. The YAT Resilience Programme works to the same outcomes through a year long programme of monthly activities, home-based challenges and reflective practice. Our Mentoring Programme works with those young people in need of some additional individualised support at the end of our other programmes. The Trust’s Bursary Programme is open to all those young people who have completed an initial programme, in order to assist their next steps into further activities. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part. 

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and inspiring individual to oversee and lead our new YAT Resilience Programme. Following a successful pilot in Wiltshire in 2023, we are now launching the programme in Somerset, a new geographical location for the Youth Adventure Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of YAT’s growth, leading our first move outside of Wiltshire and Swindon. There is plenty of scope to develop this new programme, ensuring it meets its objectives and gives the best possible opportunities to the vulnerable young people who are referred to build their resilience and therefore improve their future lives. 

The Resilience Programme Lead will be responsible for;

• developing the content of the Resilience Programme including identifying, arranging and booking activities and other opportunities; and developing complementary materials such as reflective journals, take home challenges, online support and session plans for individual support.

• delivering the Resilience Programme to groups of young people, ensuring the highest standards of safety, wellbeing and engagement, acting as the key point of contact for them and their parents/carers throughout, and ensuring they get the maximum benefit from the opportunity. 

• the continued review and development of the programme content, experience and learning opportunities to ensure maximum outcomes and that programme objectives are fulfilled. You will seek the views and feedback of young people, and include them as well as other stakeholders in its development. Having a high quality programme that meets its aims is of the utmost importance to YAT and this will require a reflective, insightful and creative leader. 

• monitoring the impact of the programme on the young people taking part through use of our outcomes measurement tool and seeking feedback from young people, parents, referral agencies and volunteers. Reporting on this impact through success stories, data and analysis.

• working with the referral schools and young people’s families to promote understanding of the benefits of the programme, effective participation and ensure they have all the information they require. Providing parents/carers and referral schools with feedback to help support the young person’s development and wellbeing. 

• line management for other Resilience Programme Managers, overseeing their workflow and delivery of the programme.

• working with the Volunteering Lead to recruit, train, support, organise and prepare volunteers who will work on the programme, including providing training and ensuring safe working practices and the highest standards of care and safeguarding. On activities you will oversee staff and providers who are brought in to support the delivery of the programme.

• overseeing the programme budget and ongoing expenditure review to ensure it is on track and achieves best value.

• overseeing and developing the programme’s website pages, database usage and administrative systems.

• scoping out and creating opportunities, contacts, networks and support in Somerset in order to raise YAT’s profile in the county.

• supporting the fundraising team through providing feedback, reports and supporting information to help acquire and maintain funding for the programme.

• attending parts of the YAT Adventure Programme, other events and volunteer training throughout the year in order to support the wider functions of the charity.

• acting as an ambassador for the Youth Adventure Trust at all times.

The Candidate

To be up to the challenge you’ll need an excellent understanding and a proven track record of relevant experience working with vulnerable and challenging young people. You’ll need demonstrable skills at building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; young people, parents/carers, schools, volunteers, professional organisations and providers. You’ll need strong leadership and motivational skills; the capacity to get the best out of people and confidently deal with complex issues and challenges. You’ll be an excellent communicator, planner and problem solver, a strong team player and an exemplary role model. 

We need someone with;

• knowledge, understanding and commitment to the highest standards of safeguarding, and dedication to promoting the welfare and safety of young people. 

• relevant experience of managing, supporting and developing secondary age young people in a group setting, as well as through individual work. 

• experience and interest in outdoor and adventurous activities.

• relevant experience of working with volunteers in the Third Sector, including recruiting, supporting and managing volunteers.

• self-motivation with the ability to work on their own initiative to plan and manage their workload.

• strong IT skills including experience of MS Office, web based platforms and databases.

• excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• a positive attitude, high energy and enthusiasm for the work of the Youth Adventure Trust; an understanding of the positive impact outdoor adventure can have on vulnerable young people, and a desire to help inspire young lives.

• The ability to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends as required is essential - if you are looking for a predictable 9-5 work environment, this won’t be the right fit.

• A full current driving licence and access to your own vehicle is required.

About the role:

We are seeking a new Head of Business and Operations to play a crucial role in supporting the Head to review and drive continuous improvement.

The key responsibilities in the role will include:

1. Finances: You will oversee and manage all finances and a multi million pound budget for the school.

Experience & Certifications/Qualifications:

• Higher level qualification in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience in data classification, data loss prevention, or information security.
• Expertise in SharePoint administration and optimization.
• Strong understanding of data governance, privacy laws, and compliance standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills

We are seeking an Impact and Evaluation Manager to work closely with our Head of Data and Impact and Senior Data and Impact Officer. A key part of the role will be helping develop further how we evaluate the impact of our programmes. You’ll also be responsible for producing reports for different audiences including external partners and staff members delivering the IntoUniversity programme in our centres, and supporting with the management of our Salesforce database. As part of a small team, you’ll be involved in impact projects and providing key data support from the start.

The main duties of the role

• To work with the Impact and Operations teams to improve programme evaluation, including designing qualitative and quantitative impact and process evaluations.
• To lead the delivery of evaluations, including data collection, analysis and reporting.
• To act as an impact expert for the charity, using data and impact reporting internally and externally to develop IntoUniversity’s strategic goals
• To play a key role in the formal data and impact reporting for the charity including the production of Impact Reports and annual university reports, and ensuring the impact microsite is kept up to date.
• To prepare reports on the performance of the charity, collating data and presenting it in clear formats for a variety of internal and external audiences including: staff delivering the programme; Regional Operations Managers; the charity’s Senior Leadership and Senior Management teams; Trustees; Donors; University partners.
• To develop and maintain expertise in research and evaluation methodologies
• To keep abreast of research and policy developments in relation to the higher education and charity sectors.
• To lead on developing and delivering Impact training for new and existing staff. 
• To support the management of IntoUniversity’s Salesforce database including the maintenance of database records, creation of new features, producing and analysing reports, supporting and training staff in itsuse, and reviewing the effectiveness of the database as a monitoring tool. Salesforce training will be provided.
• To support members of the delivery team with Salesforce queries and requests for data and analysis.

We are looking for someone who has experience in management and income generation and working in a customer service-focused environment. This post is responsible for managing the development of income, generating opportunities as part of the Training, Education and Development team through a range of educational activities and the hiring of the purpose-built Education Centre at St Joseph’s Hospice. We support young people to use their voice by providing them with outstanding democratic education. We work with young people, teachers and politicians to help them to learn, teach and engage in politics. We are a non-partisan organisation working across the UK. We are experts in supporting young people and politicians to engage through political contact.

We also coordinate the Democracy Classroom network, a partnership between over 100 civil society organisations that supports young people to engage in elections. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Office Manager would work with our small team of 7 staff by providing organisational and administrative support. 

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organisational skills, advanced proficiency in G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides), general bookkeeping skills and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. Experience of working with a database  is a desirable skill.

The post holder will:

• Work with the Director and wider team to ensure efficient office operations.
• Implement and maintain procedures/office administrative systems.
• Manage office supplies and equipment.
• Manage databases. Check that data protection laws are being adhered to in relation to the storage of data, and review and update policies (training can be provided).
• Organise regular internal meetings and planning days.
• Provide administrative support to the Director including scheduling meetings and handling correspondence.
• Book and arrange travel for staff.

• Order stationery and IT equipment.

The Politics Project is based in London and the post holder will be expected to work from the office at least two days a week. The role is part time, 4 days a week. The role

Title: Volunteer Coordinator

Reports to: Head of People

Salary: £25,000 per annum, pro rata

Contract: Permanent, part time. 24-32 hours per week flexible across 7 days, onsite at Storyhouse

At Storyhouse, we are lucky enough to have over 180 volunteers. They are integral to our day-to-day operation and are the face of our visitor experience and support our teams across the organisation.

The purpose of this role is to provide coordination of all volunteer activity across the organisation and to support the Head of People with the ongoing management and future development of the volunteer programme.

You will form part of the People Team, which also focuses on Human Resources and Payroll.

You will be proactive in ensuring we have a diverse volunteer programme that is embedded across Storyhouse and is provided as a vital service to our communities.

Responsibilities

Administration

• Coordinate our 180+ volunteers, including maintenance of our systems, training records, and rota management
• Work with all departments to ensure volunteers are integrated and well managed when on shift in their roles
• Oversee and enact all volunteer policies and procedures, playing an active part of annual reviews and ongoing development of these key documents
• Manage the tone and style of communication with all volunteers, managing expectations and keeping them up to date on all Storyhouse news and opportunities
• Keep up to date with best practice and legislation in the volunteer sector
• Conduct regular volunteer surveys and establish routes for volunteers to provide feedback
• Other administrative tasks to support the People Team as required; as a small team, we all support each other.

Recruitment

• Proactively and innovatively manage all volunteer recruitment, creating a diverse pool of volunteers to support our work across the organisation
• Ensure relevant DBS checks are conducted and personal references are obtained, highlighting any concerns
• Support with the development and delivery of volunteer inductions
• Support the Head of People with the creation of volunteer opportunities that both support our teams and provide a first-class experience for the volunteer
• Process leavers relevant systems, monitoring the completion of exit interviews
• Audit & monitor uniform levels, issuing to volunteers, highlighting when stock levels are low

Training

• Maintain our online training records, ensuring volunteers have completed required training
• Assist with the organisation of in-house training by booking spaces, compiling presentations and relevant paperwork, or coordinate the booking of external training providers coming on-site as required

Programme Development

• Attend networking events, open days and recruitment fairs, representing Storyhouse and raising the profile of our work with volunteers
• Work with the Head of People to produce reports on the volunteer programme to the Senior Leadership Team, trustees and other stakeholders as required
• Develop relationships with our partnership organisations and wider networks to maintain and develop existing and new volunteer opportunities
• Work with Young Storyhouse to offer Young Leader graduates volunteer opportunities
• Work on volunteer incentives, recognition and reward schemes across the year

General

• Act in accordance with Storyhouse’s policies and procedures, and undertake any training as required by Storyhouse
• Act as a role model for other staff and contribute to the life of the organisation as a whole
• Carry out any other duties as may be required as part of the Volunteer Coordinator’s role

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a similar role working with volunteers, ideally in a visitor-facing environment

We are a large and busy Church of England parish and are looking for an energetic and self-motivated Operations Manager to join our leadership team.  You will be someone who can oversee all the operational elements with appropriate attention to detail and processes and also take a full part in supporting new developments in line with our vision.

Our Operations Manager is moving on after almost 3 years in post so we are looking for someone to lead our Operations Team at All Saints Church, Ecclesall.

The role requires the oversight of four areas of church operations:

• Administration including finance

• Communications

• Estates

You will manage the operations team (6 staff) and work closely with the ministry team, a wider range of active volunteers and users of our halls complex. You will be able to deal with issues sensitively and with an approach appropriate to our Christian faith. The role does include some evening and weekend work but will mainly be carried out during office hours.

Responsibilities:

General Operations Management

1.1 Manage the Church Office to ensure that the working environment and working practices are efficient, flexible and fully reflect the mission and values of All Saints.

1.2 Manage and maintain the church databases and files to ensure kept up to date and fully compliant with Data Protection legislation.

1.3 Working closely with the Ministry Team, including participation in the weekly senior team meeting, manage the church programme and calendar.

1.4 Oversee the preparation of the resources required to support the weekly services, major church festivals and other church events. Lead on arranging some events.

1.5 Oversee enquiries about baptisms, weddings, funerals and church yard.

1.6 Provide informed support to volunteers in all areas of administration and operations covering a wide range of regular and adhoc activities.

Communications

2.1 Support the Vicar in ensuring timely, appropriate and effective internal and external communications including the weekly e-mail and hard copy church notices.

2.2 Ensure that the website is regularly reviewed and updated, as required.

2.3 Manage All Saints’ profile and activity on social media.

2.4 Respond to enquiries and requests from the Diocese, local community and external organizations, as required.

2.5 Manage communication with members of the church family in matters relating to news and weekly notices in a timely manner
