Aggie’s is seeking a new Finance Director to join their small friendly staff team. The Finance Director will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the charity's financial framework to support and advance Aggie’s mission. As the Finance Director, you'll be a key member of the team, overseeing financial operations, managing day-to-day finances, meeting the needs of both internal and external stakeholders, and leading two team members.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

We are looking for a Financial Transactions Manager to join our growing team and make our vision a reality.

The Financial Transactions Manager will oversee the smooth running of the transactional processing of all income and expenditure at the Students’ Union. Who: We are looking for an experienced, self-starting Finance Manager for the Central Foundation Schools of London, a charity supporting two state schools in London, with investments and endowments in the region of £40m.

Responsibilities: The Finance Manager will be responsible through the CEO to the Board, for day-to-day management of the charity’s accounts and all financial operations. They will manage the financial record keeping, payroll, pensions, banking and oversee the tracking of Foundation’s investments and income. The postholder will provide accurate financial management information, including quarterly cashflow forecasting and management accounts and co-ordinating the annual budget setting process.  They will be responsible for preparing the annual accounts to the required standards and overseeing the annual audit process. They will also provide advice on a range of operational issues to ensure sound asset management, value for money and compliance with statutory requirements relevant to the charity’s financial operations. They will contribute to the shared leadership of the organisation including collaborating on the implementation of the Foundation’s strategy.

Our Work: For over 150 years, the Central Foundation Schools of London has supported two schools in inner London. Between them, the Girls’ School at Bow Road, Tower Hamlets and the Boys’ School is based in Cowper Street, Islington provide places to over 2,500 young people. Today, the Foundation continues to benefit students at these two schools while also supporting the schools to strengthen the opportunities, facilities and educational excellence for current and future students.

Our People: We are a small team with three part time staff managing the day to day work of the Foundation.  A Board of 18 trustees/directors volunteer their time and skills and collaborate closely with the small staff team. In 2022 the Board started a process of transformation and modernisation of the charity’s operations and processes. In 2023, alongside refreshing our governance, supporting two major building programmes and updating our financial operations, we established our first strategy addressing how we can best support the Schools over the next decade and more. 

The Role: To support the exciting opportunities presented by the new strategy, Central Foundation Schools for London are recruiting a permanent Finance Manager to provide professional management of the charity’s accounts, ensuring the charity’s operational effectiveness and efficiency, accurate financial management information and advice, preparation of the annual budget, management of our investment portfolio as well as compliance with statutory for the production of the Annual Statutory Accounts in compliance with latest SORP and legislation.

Experience: We are looking for a fully qualified accountant with good post-qualification experience with the ability to work independently and lead the charity’s financial operations.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Head of Central Finance will lead work across the charity to support the delivery of comprehensive financial services to all levels of the charity including the board of trustees, the Chief Executive and Executive Board, the senior leadership team and other managers, setting and maintaining compliance with all statutory and internal requirements.

General

The Shrine employs around 75 members of staff and every year it welcomes a steady stream of volunteers who offer help in return for board and lodging.

There are 137 bedrooms on site and around 10,500 pilgrims come each year for a residential pilgrimage typically lasting two to three nights. Meals are provided in the Pilgrim Refectory which can seat around 200 residents and produces up to 85,000 meals a year. In addition, the Shrine welcomes a good number of day pilgrims per year.

As well as the pilgrimage programme, which is run at weekends and midweek, each year the Shrine runs a series of special events and retreats. There is an important outreach to young pilgrims which is headed up by the Director of Education. This includes educational visits from schools and a range of events for different ages, the most ambitious of which is the annual Youth Pilgrimage.

Within the beautiful gardens there is a Cafe Bar which is open to pilgrims, tourists and visitors. The Shrine Shop is situated in the heart of the village and offers a wide selection of religious items and gifts.

An exciting position has arisen for an initiative-taking, enthusiastic and well-organised individual to join the Charity team at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. (Working title King George & Queens Hospital Charity)

This is a dual responsibility role, and the postholder will be at the heart of all charitable activities as part of the fundraising team. The postholder will be confident to line manage other team members, and highlight charity activity to the executive board via written committee papers, and face to face/Teams meetings.

Seeking an experienced Finance Executive for Andrews Charitable Trust (ACT), working within the friendly finance team of Andrews Property Group.   ACT works to strengthen charitable organisations that support people, homes and community.  Uniquely, it owns the Andrews group of property services businesses and earns most of its income through the annual profits of the business.

The role is part-time, 15 hpw, or 2 days a week 9am to 5:30 pm (including 1 hr lunch break) flexibly between Monday to Friday and with hybrid working possible.  Great set of benefits listed at the bottom of this advert.

 The Role

As the Finance Executive, you will play a vital role in ensuring that accurate financial records and compliance for the charity are maintained, reporting to the Andrews Finance Director.

You will be responsible for managing financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and providing support in financial reporting for the ACT Charity Director and her board of trustees. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to our social mission and to work with organisations supporting people affected by housing-related poverty.

Person Specification & qualifications required:

• Proven Charity Accounting/Finance Experience.
• Proficiency in accounting software (we use XLedger) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Basic AAT qualification would be advantageous/preferred but not essential
