The Role

In this new role as a Development Surveyor at the Trust, you'll play an important part in advancing our Property Strategy, taking forward capital projects, in support of extending our charitable impact and growing our income to do so. Working closely with the Property Director, you'll lead multiple capital projects of differing scales and varying timelines, focusing on the redevelopment of rural assets, brownfield sites, and new developments focused on rural land and property.

Your expertise will be instrumental in managing relationships with partners, planning authorities, consultants and influential stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. You'll be part of the Head Office-based Property team, with occasional travel to our rural landholdings across England.

Main Accountabilities:

• Assess and manage the Trust's portfolio of capital projects with a focus on maximising value and impact.
• Lead the development process from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with the Trust's strategic objectives and values.
• Cultivate and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders and potential partners to advance developmentprojects.
• Serve as a Trust ambassador, representing our interests in various forums and engagements.
• Provide expertise in financial and development appraisals to guide decision-making.
• Provide regular progress updates to the Property Director, addressing risks and opportunities.
• Oversee local consultations and stakeholder engagement to ensure project alignment.
• Manage contracts and negotiations to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
• Co-ordinate design team meetings and liaise with professionals to drive project success.
• Conduct post-completion evaluations to capture feedback and improve future processes.

• Proven track record in managing development projects, with a focus on rural property.
• Understanding of rural property characteristics and relevant legal frameworks.

The Trust’s Estates

The Trust owns and manages over 9,000 hectares of land and property made up of mainly let farmland but also 584 hectares of woodland, houses, cottages and a growing commercial portfolio. Land is owned in six counties: Buckinghamshire, Cumbria, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Leicestershire and Oxfordshire. These rural landholdings are managed for income return and capital growth, whilst seeking ways to improve the environment and important habitats, evolving and protecting the landscapes.

Active management dictates that we are constantly looking for new opportunities and ways to evolve and improve our income stream in support of the Trust’s overall charitable object, which is education. Duties Include:

Fundraising and project development:

· Lead the implementation of Bexley Mencap’s Fundraising Strategy; reviewing existing fundraising strategies, identifying opportunities for development and introducing innovative strategies to achieve fundraising goals. 

· Research and pursue new funding opportunities; including grants, legacies and social enterprise/earned income opportunities.

· Develop compelling cases for support, tailoring funding bids and applications accordingly

· Develop and maintain funding pipelines, providing reports to the Trustee Board

· Support and line manage part-time member of the team (may be required to support more staff if the role grows/adapts)

· Support the Chief Executive in extending and strengthening relationships with existing partners and developing new relationships

· Ensure all fundraising initiatives adhere to best practices, ethical guidelines and legislation

· Identify and evaluate opportunities for new projects and initiatives aligned with the mission and objectives of the organisation.

ARMA (UK) is the professional association for research management in the UK. We currently have around 3,5000 individual members from 250 organisations, ranging from universities and research institutes to research funders and the National Health Service.

This role will be responsible for the effective delivery of ARMA’s scheduled and ad hoc training and development events (c25 per year) and our mentoring programme.

Fundraising Development Manager

• Research and make recommendations of funding opportunities (new funders) and the best fit with EJF’s current and planned programmes. Draft initial enquiries (LoI or call) or funding applications. Ensure timely, appropriate follow-up is conducted and that we collect and learn from feedback.

• As directed, manage relationships with funders, ensuring timely reporting that meets their needs. This will include drafting the funder newsletter (bi-monthly) and providing new materials, such as reports, films, audits, etc.

• Draft funding proposals and monitor all deadlines for reporting, planning for the timebound and efficient delivery, and working with team members to ensure the highest quality reports are drafted in good time.

• Organise a monthly meeting with the directors and COO to present opportunities and actions and agree on priorities and approaches to donors.

• Take the lead in preparing government grant applications, liaising with colleagues for information and finessing draft texts.

• Maintain the grant database and ensure it is regularly checked and updated and that leads are followed up.

• Maintain the grants calendar, ensuring you are aware of reporting deadlines and other priority needs well in advance and ensuring no deadlines are missed. The role will take a proactive lead and coordinate as required.

• Assist in delivering events to update existing and attract new funders and ensure appropriate follow-up.

• Assist in crafting presentations to funders and, as required, work with the comms team to develop films or other materials.

• You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrable experience drafting clear, precise, and engaging copy, winning fundraising proposals, and supporting materials.

The role

The Senior PR and Press Officer will raise the voice and impact of the CIPD in media and wider communications activities in pursuit of its core purpose of championing better work and working lives

What you’ll be doing

• Managing incoming media enquiries, ensuring journalists receive a prompt and efficient response and briefing spokespeople to help turn incoming enquiries into opportunities to proactively communicate key messages.
• Maximising media coverage to support the CIPD’s strategic priorities and our research, policy and campaign agenda. This will involve regularly translating policy matters and research findings into accessible news stories that will resonate with different stakeholder audiences.
• Being part of a wider team, which creates and delivers integrated marketing communications campaigns. You will have responsibility for managing the media element of certain campaigns.
• Building and maintaining relationships with trade media, national and broadcast journalists as part of our busy and respected press office. You will also work closely with the editorial team that manage our CIPD magazines: People Management and Work.
• Working with the PR Manager, Head of Marketing Communications, and wider team to protect and enhance the reputation of the CIPD.
• Supporting communications colleagues in our regional and international offices.
• Ensuring that the CIPD’s online media centre is an up-to-date resource for the media, CIPD members and other visitors to the website, and that press releases are distributed in a timely way.
• Proactively placing and writing articles for a variety of media and ensuring all articles from CIPD spokespeople are consistent with the CIPD’s key messages.
• Being part of the team that plan and run the on-site press offices for our annual conferences.
• Building strong working relationships with third party stakeholders, including commercial and strategic partners.

What you’ll need to be successful

• An excellent writer and communicator, able to create compelling copy for a range of audiences and channels.
• Extensive experience and knowledge in media relations.
• Strong awareness of media with good contacts in the national media.
• Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, juggling competing deadlines and shifting priorities at short notice.
• Ability to provide consultancy to the rest of the organisation, including the senior management team.
• A real team player, able to build relationships with teams across the business.
• Able to represent the organisation when working with media and other stakeholders.
• Has a good understanding of using social media channels to further our key messages and ensure that traditional and social media activities are aligned.

Elders Voice is a local charity serving older people in Brent. We are recruiting a CEO to lead our talented and experienced staff team through a period of change to ensure our financial security.

Elders Voice is an established and trusted charity in the heart of Kensal Green. We believe ageing should be a wonderful and worthwhile journey, but for that to happen older people need to feel safe and happy in their homes and have access to affordable activities in an environment that embraces their differences. 

The pillars of our work are a well-respected handyperson service and a day centre offering a range of activities focusing on health and well-being, socialising, art, gardening and intergenerational work with and for older people.

The CEO will need to embrace our aims and lead the EV team to provide services based on holistic, long-term, high-quality relationships and to ensure that older people shape development of our services. In this difficult economic environment, we need to explore new funding opportunities and transition away from a reliance on local authority funding.

You will report directly to the Chair of the Board of Trustees and be supported by the board and a small, dedicated staff team.

Your role:

• To lead the staff team to deliver excellent services for older people in Brent.
• To ensure the financial stability of Elders Voice.
• To work with the board of trustees to develop and deliver the strategic plan.
• To act as an ambassador for Elders Voice and the older people we represent.

The Pituitary Foundation are recruiting for a new CEO to lead us into the next phase of our journey.

The Pituitary Foundation is the UK’s leading charity providing support and information for people living with pituitary conditions, their families, friends and carers. We are based in an office in central Bristol, with some staff and volunteers working remotely throughout the UK. Pituitary conditions are uncommon, usually lifelong and can be life threatening. Conditions include acromegaly, Cushing's, prolactinoma, AVP-Deficiency and hypopituitarism.

It is an exciting time to join The Foundation. We are celebrating our 30th anniversary throughout 2024 and are working towards our ambitious strategy which we are excited to achieve. Our new website, and CRM, combined with robust processes and procedures offers a strong foundation, for a new CEO to build on.

About the Role

This role will combine the ambition of The Foundation without losing the core importance of being a person-centred patient support group, offering kindness and support at challenging times.  You will bring excellent interpersonal skills, as well as financial acumen and an appetite for seeing the best possible service delivered to a wide demographic.

Location: Based in the Bristol office, with flexibility for hybrid working

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000

Reports to: Chair and Board of Trustees

Holiday: 30 days plus statutory bank holidays

Pension: 5% employer contribution
