Placement Manager

We are looking for a Placement Manager to join our enthusiastic and friendly team. Help Counselling Centre is a small Mental Health charity providing one-to-one counselling, both in person and online. We are also a well-established training placement provider for trainee counsellors and psychotherapists studying with prestigious training providers in London.
About Help
Help Counselling is well-established Mental Health Charity with a heritage of over 50 years. We provide training placements for clinical supervisors, counsellors and psychotherapists who need to gain clinical experience to qualify (or further qualify) and be registered with one of the industry professional bodies such as, BACP or UKCP. For ethical reasons, the work trainee counsellors / psychotherapists do is unpaid, i.e., they must volunteer their time.
This volunteer model enables Help to fulfil its charitable aim of providing low-cost counselling services. It can take between 3-5 years to qualify, and our training placements are for minimum of 12 months meaning we can also provide clients with long-term help. The blend of low-cost and long-term talking therapy is much needed in a time of increasing demand for mental health support and increasing complexity of presenting issues.
About the job
Reporting to the Help Director, the job is to ensure the smooth and effective running of the training placement process in line with BACP requirements.
This will include providing clinical support and expertise to the Help Director; managing and assuring the quality of the counsellor recruitment process; handling counsellor issues; overseeing weekly client allocations and reallocations; handling queries and managing relationships with clients, counsellors and supervisors; reviewing and enhancing clinical policies.
Currently our client volumes are between 250-350, we have approximately 90 counsellors and clinical team of approximately 20.
We operate a number of cloud-based IT systems and have outsourced HR and Finance functions.
Key responsibilities
· Provide clinical support and expertise to the Help Director as required.
· Manage and oversee process of new counsellor recruitment, ensuring all new counsellors are interviewed and vetted against a suitable set of standards and controls.
· Manage paperwork required by Training Organisations in relation to Trainee Counsellors at the beginning and during their placement.
· Being available to support Trainee Counsellors on clinical placement with Help.
· Manage the Cause for Concern’ procedure with Trainee Counsellors and Supervisors as and when they arise. This will include ensuring appropriate record-keeping and taking appropriate action to ensure counsellors are working safely and within the BACP ethical framework.
· Provide a point of escalation for client, counsellor or supervision queries.
· Manage and oversee weekly client allocations and reallocations.
· Manage any queries raised from Assessments and manage any declined clients
· Assist in the periodic review and creation of appropriate clinical policies and procedures. Provide input into policies and procedures based on changes to best practice guidelines issued by professional bodies.
The Candidate
Education & experience: Counselling or Psychotherapy Qualification, BACP or UKCP professional membership, 3-5 years' post-qualification experience. Experience of working within a training environment within the same industry highly desirable.

This role is hybrid. The successful applicant will be required to work at our Bradbury House location on 2 Fridays each month when we run our drop-in and hold operational meetings. The address is Mayfield Road, Huntingdon, PE29 1UL. In addition, the post holder will be required to attend in person on other days as needed, for example, our Men’s Group in Huntingdon on Wednesday mornings, our Women’s Group on Wednesday evenings, and new activities on other days and locations around Huntingdonshire, together with occasional evening and weekend working in the Huntingdon area.
The time commitment is 15 hours per week at the rate of £20 per hour. Our preference is for the post-holder to be a self employed contractor.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work with Sustrans as part of the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement team as the E-Commerce Manager.
In line with our ecommerce strategy, Sustrans has invested over the past years to increase sales through our e-commerce shop and now needs to find new approaches to maximise revenue.
As the E-Commerce Manager, you will be responsible for maximising e-commerce revenue by optimising the martech stack, improving audience insights, product development/management and promotion through digital and offline marketing channels.

The Institutional Funding Manager will play an important role in SHA’s institutional income generation activities. We are looking for the right person to lead the evolution of CALP’s fundraising. The role combines strategic leadership, internal and external coordination, and lots of hands-on development of funding applications, reports and much more. It's a pivotal role, helping to ensure the financial sustainability of CALP.
The role holder will manage and cultivate strong relationships with donors and members of the network, including the funding teams in our host organisations through whom funding flows. They will lead in identifying new funding opportunities and sustaining effective relationships with existing donors. This includes the development of consistently high-quality proposals and reports, whilst also ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. The Role:
The Donor Relations Manager leads and develops CALP’s fundraising strategy and activities to enable CALP to finance its overall strategy. The role holder manages and cultivates healthy relationships with donors and network members, and shares compliance responsibilities depending on contractual requirements. This role has strong inter-relations within realms of strategy, programmes, operations, planning and monitoring, and serves as an expert for the CALP team on strategic fundraising and donor relations.

Essential Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge
- Degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate technical field, or equivalent level of professional experience.
- Significant, proven experience of generating substantial funding including proven ability to develop funding strategies, plan effectively and deliver complex funding applications and donor reports.
- High level experience and knowledge of key humanitarian and development donors such as: ECHO, BHA/USAID, GFFO, FCDO and European government donors.
- Knowledge and experience of working with consortium-based funding.
- Proven strategic design and management skills including good programme development ability and proven knowledge of M&E at project and programme levels.
- Significant experience with budgeting, financial reporting, including managing and reporting on complex programme budgets.
- Ability to develop and manage complex relationships.
- Proven experience of funding management systems/databases.
- Very strong conceptual and analytical skills, including excellent facilitation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English - report writing, and presentation skills, including the ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely and to motivate and persuade at high levels.

About the Role
This is an exciting role which will support MSI’s successful implementation of European Union funded projects to increase access to, and respect for, sexual and reproductive health and rights in sub-Saharan Africa. Working in close collaboration with national and international partners, including government Ministries and civil society partners, MSI is currently implementing two EU funded projects:
The “Youth for Health (Y4H)” project is an adolescent-focused multi-country programme which aims to expand access to life-changing adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (SRH) across six sub-Saharan African countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Zambia. This is a flagship project for the EU within its SRH project portfolio and is implemented through a consortium of eight partners, which is led by MSI.
The ”Kelen Ya” project focuses on supporting women's and girls' civil society organisations to promote a favourable environment for socio-economic development in Mali. Led by MSI Mali and the Women in Law and Development (WILDAF), the project is funded by the EU delegation in Mali.
As a core member of MSI’s Global Programmes and Philanthropy (GPP) team, the GPP Manager (EU) will contribute to the successful implementation of these projects, taking responsibility for the management of sub-contracts for a number of consortium partners, supporting them to deliver their commitments and ensuring adherence to the compliance requirements of both the EU and of the other donors which will be co-financing the Y4H programme, in close coordination with MSI country programme leads. The GPP Manager (EU) will also support the delivery of internal commitments by MSI’s Global Support Office and Country Programmes. The GPP Manager (EU) will lead project management support for a portfolio of countries, working closely with MSI’s Africa Regional team, supporting consortium performance monitoring, risk management, work-planning, and monitoring.
In addition, they will lead on key pieces of technical work under the programme, coordinating technical inputs across key thematic areas (such as advocacy, disability, or youth), interacting with technical leadership and Technical Working Group members from within the projects, as well as external agencies. They will support the Head of EU Programmes to manage the external relationships critical to the success of the programme including with the EU at global and country level and with African institutions.
This role is for a fixed, two-year period from June 2024 to June 2026, with the possibility of extension subject to donor funding.

To perform this role, it is essential that you have the following skills:
- Demonstrable experience writing high quality quarterly and annual reports to donors and other key stakeholders
- Good Excel proficiency and an ability to analyse, synthesise and visualise data
- Strong written communication skills and a proven ability to organise and present information in a compelling way to a range of audiences
- Able to influence to strengthen and improve quality and timeliness of programme deliverables, processes and technical support without direct line management or control
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, perform under pressure and reputation for consistently delivering results to a high standard
- Knowledge of government donor regulations, policies and procedures
- Able to multi-task, problem solve and prioritise to manage multiple and competing demands from internal and external stakeholders
Additional experience that we’d welcome:
- A strong understanding of written and spoken French
- Knowledge of European Union regulations, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of reproductive health care
- Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa
- Experience supporting or working in consortia with civil society partners
- Ability to travel up to 4 weeks a year
To perform this role, it is essential that you have the following experience:
- Experience of managing donor funded projects (multi-country and partner desirable), including project monitoring and reporting against payment deliverables, proactive risk management and escalation
- Experience in writing and editing reports for donors or other external stakeholders
- Financial management experience including budgeting and budget tracking
- Demonstrable experience managing complex relationships across organisations and across countries
- Proven experience working cross-team, generating consensus and support from multiple internal stakeholders and leading people through complex processes
- Experience in delivering capacity building support and skills development of others in either a technical area or project management skills, in order to meet project deliverables

Location: London Support Office (hybrid working) or where any MSI country programme operates.
Full-time: 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday (UK contracted hours).
Contract type: 24-month fixed term contract.
Salary: £40,000- £51,000 per annum commensurate with experience, for UK based candidates. Discretionary bonus + benefits. For all other locations, the role will be banded within national context.
