Challenge Works is looking for a Programme Coordinator to join its growing team and work across several of its programmes. This role will be key to support the development and delivery of challenge prizes across a broad range of social and technology themes including: disruptive tech, environment, international development, global health and government innovation.
Our projects are usually complex with a high public profile, they have significant impact on the lives of many thousands of people, and involve working with an exciting mix of tech entrepreneurs, civil society organisations (not for profits and public interest organisations) and government bodies
We have launched prizes that include improving outcomes for Nepalese farmers, improving access to energy for refugees and the £10m Longitude Prize for antimicrobial resistance. Some of our current prizes include the EU Social Innovation Competition, the Toyota Mobility Unlimited Challenge and prizes aimed at using tech to reduce social isolation, improving access to justice and giving people control over their financial data in order to access innovative products tailored to them.
Job purpose
We are looking for a Programme Coordinator to support all aspects in the delivery of Challenge Works programmes. An enthusiastic team player with a knack for problem solving. Someone who is able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, moving effortlessly from day-to-day management to supporting the team on planning and strategy. The ideal candidate will have some programme assistant experience, including experience of developing, maintaining and revising systems, budget and financial monitoring, relationship management, communications and management of social media channels.
The Role
Programme Coordination
- Work closely with Programme Managers to enable smooth day-to-day programme execution.
- Monitoring of milestones, evaluation and finance to keep check of project budgets and deadlines. Flagging action points to the Programme Manager when necessary.
- Develop, maintain and revise (as necessary) systems that will underpin the delivery of the prizes.
- Carry out procurement activities end-to-end, including development of contracts, legal documents and CRM
- Development of key documents relating to the delivery of the prizes.
- Manage internal and external meetings, including developing agendas and writing minutes.
Stakeholder Management & Teamwork
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of the prizes.
- Day-to-day management of external relationships, from stakeholder networks to high-profile individuals and prize entrants.
Communications & Events
- Help support communications activities of various challenge prizes, for example, managing monthly newsletters, social media and updating websites.
- Help create opportunities for public engagement activities.
- Help to create events, workshops and to deliver them to a high standard.
- Work with diverse Nesta departments including financial, legal, and communications.
- Take on ad-hoc projects and tasks to support the team and its prizes as necessary.
- Occasional International travel and out of hours work.

What we offer

Context of the role.

In this role, you'll deliver and develop a portfolio of high-quality, trauma informed support for survivors of sexual abuse across Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and BANES.
About the charity
Kinergy provides trauma-informed counselling and group therapy to individuals who have experienced sexual abuse and violence. As part of the dynamic and supportive Senior Leadership team, led by their CEO, you will lead and inspire the service delivery team, ensuring that Kinergy continues to deliver and develop high-quality, trauma informed support for survivors of sexual abuse.
Role: Head of Therapeutic Services
Salary: £42,000 Pro Rata
Location: Bristol (majority based at our offices with scope for some homeworking)

About the role
You'll help develop and drive organisational strategy forward, ensuring that services are sustainable, accessible, evidence-based, inclusive and survivor-informed, as well as fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels they belong by celebrating and investing in the team.
About you
You've got significant experience of leading, motivating and developing service delivery teams, ideally with responsibility for small - medium staff teams. Whilst you don't need direct experience in the sexual violence space, it's important to come with substantial experience with skills that are transferable (experienced in complex needs and trauma).
To provide the team with the right support, you'll also need:
- Resilience, great organisational skills and desire to put staff wellbeing and development at the heart of decision-making.
- Excellent communication and line management skills
- Well-developed finance skills, able to manage multiple complex budgets.
- Proven track record of business planning and managing a diverse range of services.
- Ability to produce written and statistical reports to a high professional standard, with an understanding and appreciation of the value of data for impact.
- Creative, curious, and flexible approach with a willingness to adapt and change priorities accordingly.

This role requires an established social sector leader who is adept at demonstrating internal and external leadership,
You will be detail oriented and logical to provide robust programme quality and assurance expertise, yet equally comfortable to lead the organisation externally too. You will be passionate about positioning Carers Trust’s programmatic offer as relevant and additive, drawing on emerging and best practice from across our network of 126 carer organisations.
As a seasoned programmes professional your leadership accountability for UK Programmes spans from development through to implementation and you will work closely across the nations to steward and role model a joined up approach across Carers Trust’s programme cycle, leading to meaningful and coherent programming.
The role holder will instill a learning and continuous improvement culture across the programmes and impact community, to ensure that programmatic learning is used to inform our network offer, evolving research agenda and influencing activities. The post holder will lead a UK programmes team, and be able to work thematically on programmes for carers of all ages and will be comfortable with a matrix management approach to nation-specific programmes teams. Springfield Advice & Law Centre is a community based legal practice and a registered charity. We were formed in 1982 when we were set up to serve the mental health community. We are based mainly on the site of Springfield University Hospital Mental Health NHS Trust. Springfield Law Centre is unique as a working model of a health justice partnership.
We are seeking a for a new Director & Head of Legal Practice to take forward this unique, niche Law Centre. There is an opportunity for expanding the work of the Law Centre and showcasing the worth of health justice partnerships.We are looking for an energetic and compassionate lawyer with a broad experience of either housing or community care casework and representation, who is capable of being a legal aid category supervisor in either area, who has the confidence to lead the team and to develop it so that we can continue to make a real difference within the community.
Qualifications and experience
- 5 years’ PQE qualified lawyer, with demonstrable experience of management at a senior level.
- Ability to meet the supervisor for the Legal Aid Agency contract in either housing or community care.
- A track record of implementing and managing change.
- A track record of leading and motivating others demonstrating strong people skills.
- A track record of innovation and problem solving.
- Appropriate skills and experience that demonstrate an ability and commitment to manage staff effectively. This should include support, supervision, and appraisal and performance management.
- Appropriate skills and experience to effectively handle and manage complaints.
- Experience of managing a Legal Aid Agency Contract and Legal Help matters, with billing targets.
- Ability to bill all types of legally-aided work and to report to the Legal Aid Agency.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload of sufficient, appropriate matters to meet the billing target in place.
- Ability to draft appropriate documentation in your specialist area of law.
- Experience of giving successful training or talks, for example giving presentations, or
- representing clients before Courts or Tribunals.

- Ability to take an active role in, leading the direction of the Law Centre, developing new strategies and raising profile.
- Ability to manage the Lexcel Quality Mark and ensure that systems and standards are maintained across the organisation so that audits are passed.
- Ability to understand the financial viability of the Law Centre.
- Ability to report effectively to funders and to monitor progress against grant funded projects.
- Commitment to equality and diversity as set out in the principles and policies of the Law Centre.
- Ability to be self-servicing: you will be expected to manage most of your own typing, filing and billing of Legal Help/Aid cases to comply with LAA requirements.
- Ability to prioritise your workload with minimum supervision.
- Excellent communication skills: you must be able to relate well to colleagues, clients and third parties, in person, in writing and on the telephone, despite the pressures of the role.
- You must be very well organised, with excellent ICT skills, in order to work well under pressure without compromising standards.
- Ability to work flexibly and outside regular office hours including attending and reporting to the trustees on the progress of the Law Centre.
Consideration will be given to requests for flexible or family friendly hours of work to include job share, part time working or specific proposals. The Management Committee consider the range and number of duties to be a full-time role and that any reduction from a full-time role will result in a division of duties to accommodate all aspects of the Law Centre’s needs and aspirations.
