An exciting opportunity has arisen for a co-ordinator for the Flourish project in the Diocese of Chester.

As part of the Church of England’s Growing Faith initiative, Flourish aims to see a network of 450 new worshipping communities established in educational settings across England, beginning with a pilot scheme involving 40 locations in 12 dioceses. There will be 4 pilot projects within the Diocese of Chester.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working with children and young people, together with an appreciation of the missional task facing the church, particularly in regard to engaging missionally with a more diverse demographic.

This is a part-time position for 1 day (7 hours) per week.  The role offers hybrid working that includes working from Church House at Daresbury Park, Warrington, and travel around the Diocese.

There is an Occupational Requirement for the postholder to be a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act, 2010. An Enhanced DBS Disclosure will be required.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Wales team as an Administrator. Job Purpose
Your legacy will be a tangible impact on slowing down climate change, helping nature recover and creating social impact by leading on landowner and stakeholder engagement for the Lower Chew Landscape Recovery project that will see thousands of acres of local land managed in harmony with nature. You will join a fast-growing organisation that started in 2019 with four volunteers and has grown to a staff team of thirteen (which will double over 2024), over 1,000 volunteers and ownership of 170 acres (soon to be 600 acres) of land that will grow woodlands of over 160,000 trees.

The project
Landscape Recovery is one of Defra’s three environmental land management schemes. Avon Needs Trees has been awarded development phase funding for Landscape Recovery in the Lower Chew. This is a unique opportunity to help co-design nature’s recovery and social impact at a landscape scale. The project will engage existing landowners and managers across over 867 hectares of land in the Lower Chew, an area where good quality but fragmented woodland provides a basis for woodland connectivity and large-scale woodland creation, as part of a mosaic of grassland and woodland habitat. This locally-cherished landscape of rolling farmland on the edge of Bristol is the strategic setting for delivering local environmental and social priorities. Avon Needs Trees woodland projects include two Wiltshire Woodlands, the Great Avon Wood, Ed Woods, and the upcoming Lower Chew Forest.

Main responsibilities
● Join and help to lead our journey to discover the increased impact that private finance can bring to nature’s recovery
● Become our in-house expert on the local natural capital market and other forms of bringing private finance into nature’s recovery, including identifying and building relationships with potential future partners
● Being a strong advocate, internally and externally, for the landscape recovery project and the benefits it will deliver
● Leading on the delivery of the blended finance and business model for landscape recovery project, including:
      ○ Baselining agricultural finances
      ○ Finance model design, development and implementation
      ○ Landowner consultation on blended finance and business model
      ○ Developing a framework for natural capital
      ○ Ensuring legal agreements are compatible with blended finance models
● Work with the wider Avon Needs Trees team to help build a resilient, multi-site charity and undertake any other work necessary to pursue our aims

About the role

We are looking for a Programme Officer to enhance the quality of Sightsavers supported programme in Liberia and ensure that they are planned, implemented, monitored and evaluated to the highest standards, in line with Sighsavers policies and procedures. The Programme Officer will work with country office staff, global teams, and partners to identify areas of growth and develop new initiatives.

Key duties will include:

• Identify partner organizations with whom Sightsavers can work to achieve the organization's strategic priorities of the prevention of avoidable blindness and the social inclusion of people with visual impairment, through both service delivery and advocacy work.
• Develop and support longer term relationships with these partners that go beyond the duration of individual projects.
• Support partners in the identification of their own capacity building needs and help facilitate the provision of these needs.
• Assist project partners in the preparation of budgets.
• Monitor expenditure of project financial resources and liaise with the Finance and Support Services Manager/Officer where necessary.
• Support partners to manage all aspects of the project cycle including planning, implementation and monitoring & evaluation.
• Support the Country Programme Manager and Country Director to prepare project reports in line with Sightsavers and donors requirements.
• Be proactive in providing good quality information on case studies, interesting news stories etc relating to the projects the officer is responsible for.

Assistant Support and Outreach Worker (Roma Speaking)

Big Issue Changing Lives CIC is looking for an Support and Outreach Assistant to support the direct the direct delivery of services to individuals participating in Big Issue enterprises, including selling the Big Issue magazine.  The core of the role is facilitating access for members of our Roma Communities to the Hand Up Service and other local services, resources and networks required to address the barriers they are facing to moving forwards out of poverty. Where local services and resources are not available you will also support the Outreach Team with the delivery of information, guidance and some direct interventions, such as training sessions, directly.

This is self-starter role in which you’ll be responsible for connecting with potential service users within the Roma community, introducing the service to them, sharing information from our Hand Up plus services and supporting them to engage with the core Hand Up service. You’ll be working within a small team of Outreach workers and will work to maintain a set of Service Standards which help maintain the quality of the service nationally.

The role is highly flexible and no two days are the same. You’ll bring your own experience and knowledge to the role, as well as your ability to speak Romanian. We will support you to build on that through an ongoing training and development programme which aims to ensure all Hand Up Service Team members have up to date, relevant, knowledge in key areas including housing, benefits, debt, immigration and more. In the course of a day, you’ll usually be working with service users across multiple of these issues and supporting engagement with a wide range of external agencies such as health services, local authorities, charities and more, to get access to services for those you are supporting. 

Your main roles and responsibilities will be:

• Undertake phone and in person outreach to introduce the Hand Up service to Roma Big Issues vendors 
• Delivery of direct intervention to Roma vendors using guidance and resources provided 
• Join meetings with Roma Vendors and Outreach Workers to support with action planning and provision of support and guidance 
• Support with translation and interpretation within your local team to enable accessibility of the service for Roma vendors 
• Support the local Hand Up Service to build current knowledge of local and national agencies that can support Roma vendors 
• Support the organisation and delivery with Roma Vendors of 1-2-1 and group training sessions and drop-ins
• Ensure that your work meets service standards and targets and complete surveys with vendors as required
• Involving Roma service users in the service design and delivery as local and national opportunities arise

About the role:

This role is based at our office in Preston, with cover in the Accrington area as required. Once you have completed training & probation period you can apply for hybrid working, all travel costs to and from appointments from your office base will be reimbursed. As an IDVA you will:

• Focus on victims at risk of harm, providing a pro-active, short to medium term crisis intervention service
• Support victims face to face or by telephone
• Develop individual safety plans to meet client's needs as identified
• Provide advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to victims including legal & civil options, housing, health & finance & support through the criminal justice system
• Participate in multi agency meetings providing the voice of the client

You will need:

• An understanding of domestic abuse & it's impact
• Knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning & risk management
• Knowledge of Safeguarding issues & the legal responsibilities surrounding these
• Theoretical, practical & procedural knowledge of civil & criminal justice remedies
• Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
• Ability to manage a complex caseload, able to prioritise effectively
• Strong crisis management skills, able to deal with stressful & difficult situations
• Good communication, negotiation & advisory skills, both written & verbal
• Good IT skills including, Microsoft Office & Case Management systems

This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement.

As a registered charity, fundraising is of critical importance to our organisation in supporting the delivery of a number of projects, from historic building preservation to innovative new learning programmes and community outreach.

This newly created role within our Development Team will play a vital role in supporting the Historic Dockyard in generating funding to support a wide variety of projects. 

We are looking for someone who is a natural relationship builder and is passionate about the aims and objectives of Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust.  The successful candidate will be working alongside the Development Manager to grow support from Charitable Trusts and Foundations, corporate supporters and growing individual giving opportunities.

This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to build on their fundraising experience and develop further utilising a wide range of fundraising disciplines.
