Property & Facilities Manager

We are seeking a Property & Facilities Manager who will be responsible for managing the day to day running of the properties of Richmond Team Ministry and their facilities. The properties include three churches, their associated church halls, vicarages, Parish Office and investment properties.

We are looking for someone with property and facilities management experience including managing small building projects and related finance and budgeting.  S/he needs to be able to work collaboratively as part of a small team and have the ability to take the initiative and develop the role while supporting the ethos of the Richmond Team Ministry.

They are looking for a new Assistant Coach, to work alongside the Centre Manager, as part of the team at Citizen Church to deliver the Spear Programme, equipping and empowering unemployed 16–24 year olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.

Key Responsibilities

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• The Spear Coach is directly employed by Citizen Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• Help to raise the profile of the Spear programme within Citizen Church and build a network of supporters and volunteers from the congregation
• Other ad hoc church responsibilities from time to time.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Executive Assistant to join the Executive department of Samaritan’s Purse International (SPI) and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), supporting the Executive Director (ED) and wider Senior Management Team (SMT). The role is part time (21 hours per week) and based from our head office in Coventry.

The post holder will need to have meticulous attention to detail, be highly organised and have excellent administrative skills. A key aspect of the role is building collaborative relationships internally and externally. Proven experience working at Executive Director level is essential.

Duties will include:

• Providing full administrative and secretarial service to the ED and SMT
• Providing administrative support to the Board members of SP and BGEA
• Building of relationships both internally and externally
• Manage and maintain electronic diary accurately, liaise with the ED and SMT to input and manage appointments
• Undertake general administrative duties as requested by the ED and SMT
• Organise meetings/conferences/special events, provide agendas/directions to attendees. This to include all ED meetings and SMT strategic and tactical meetings.
• Organise travel for ED and SMT
• Organise visits by international visitors, including schedules of appointments
• Attend meetings, take notes/minutes to circulate to attendees in an accurate and timely fashion
• Daily use of Microsoft packages
• Assist the SMT with administrative tasks to aid in the efficient running of the team
• Attend SMT meetings and provide agendas, papers and notes

Occupational Requirement

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Operations Team and play a part in the day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of our buildings and kitchens, ensuring that they continue to serve and support the ministry of HT.

This is a practical role, and will be responsible for carrying out cleaning, room setup, regular building related checks and equipment tests and compliance, cleaning, maintenance and compliance for our two commercial kitchens, along with other ad hoc tasks as required.This is a part-time role, for 30 hours per week Sunday-Thursday.

Responsibilities

Some of the key areas of responsibility for this role are outlined below:

Cleaning & Room Setup

• Ensuring the buildings and grounds at HT are clean, tidy and ready to be used for our different mid-week events and for our Sunday services, liaising with our contract cleaners and carrying out cleaning duties yourself
• Setting up for events and services, moving tables / chairs etc as needed
• Litter picking externally and ensuring our grounds are well presented and well-maintained
• Keeping note of stocks of cleaning materials, and ordering more as needed
• Ensuring our stocks of clean laundry are always sufficient, sending and receiving laundry and liaising with our laundry contractor as needed

Kitchens

• Keeping our commercial kitchens clean and tidy and overseeing record keeping
• Understanding and ensuring compliance with our requirements under the Safer Food
• Better Business food safety management procedures
• Ensuring our kitchen equipment is well maintained and arranging annual gas safety checks
• Carrying out daily checks
• Keeping track of levels of cleaning supplies and ordering more as needed

Fire Safety

• Carrying out weekly fire alarm tests
• Carrying out other regular tests and checks, such as emergency lighting tests & fire door seal tests

Health & Safety

• Understanding and ensuring compliance under the COSHH regulations
• Regularly checking and re-stocking first aid kits

General Maintenance & Ad Hoc

• Performing maintenance tasks as required, such as painting, gardening etc
• Moving items as need between our buildings and off-site storage unit

Personal Specification:

We are looking for a can-do, servant hearted person who is:

• Punctual, reliable and able to work effectively without direct supervision.
• A completer/finisher who is detail focused.
• Willing to go above and beyond when needed.
• Previous knowledge and understanding of COSHH and Safer Food Better Business regulations would be beneficial.
• Able to support the vision and values of HT

• In possession of the right to work in the UK.
• Holds a current UK drivers license
• Able to name three referees who can provide satisfactory employment references.

Terms & Conditions:

• Hours: This is a part time role for 30 hours per week Sunday-Thursday. Whilst there is some flexibility in the working hours, Sundays will be a working day and most days will require an early start (e.g. 7:30 / 8 AM).
• Salary: £20,160 gross per Anum (£25,200 FTE)
• Start Date: As soon as possible, but can be flexible for the right candidate
• Pension: HT offers an 8% employer pension contribution
• Holidays: 26.4 days per annum (33 FTE) incl. bank holidays, which are normal working days but can be booked off
• Contract Type: Permanent position
• Probation: There is a 3-month probationary period during which the progress of the post holder will be reviewed prior to the confirmation of permanent appointment
• Workplace: Your normal place of work is Holy Trinity Church, Market Street, Cambridge, or any sites in Cambridge that HT may operate from in future

The main responsibilities of the of Diocesan Housing Surveyor are:

• Inspect Clergy houses and assess repairs and improvements necessary in compliance with Coventry Diocese Clergy Housing Standards.
• Implement the recommendations of the property reports.
• Arrange property inspections and implement the required works with the agreement of the Property Manager.
• Address reactive repairs and ensure works are undertaken and completed in accordance with the Housing Standards.
• Prepare schedules of work and cost budgets, agree these with the Property Manager before tendering to approved contractors.

What we are looking for in a Diocesan Housing Surveyor:

· Driving Licence with access to own car

· Previous experience of managing small works contracts

· Working knowledge of residential building defects and their resolution

· Proven awareness of health and safety with regard to building management and works contracts.

· Being responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of properties whilst remaining within budgetary and time constraints

· Degree Level or relevant experience commensurate to the role

· Evidence for continuing professional development.

· Familiarity using a modern Property Management software package

We are hoping to find a very special person to join in the journey of One  Church, helping us to develop our children’s work so all in our church family are equipped and nurtured to live out the ethos and values of our faith as we  follow Christ. Working alongside the Associate Minister, we want someone to share the overall responsibility for the spiritual health and discipleship of our children’s work. Key responsibilities 

To work alongside the Associate Minister and Youth Worker to ensure that strong, proactive pastoral care exists across the children and youth by  coordinating and delivering a high-quality children’s (0-11) programme on Sundays and beyond.

Whilst supporting a great team of volunteers you will oversee and nurture the children’s work across One Church including the development of age appropriate curriculum to be used on Sundays. As a Church that openly questions, we want to encourage this ethos across the whole family and  especially our children and young people. Therefore, you must have a real  heart for children and their spiritual formation and be comfortable chatting  with them, as well as their parents, about their faith and experiences of God,  giving them a real sense of belonging within the wider church family. 

The linking of our children’s work and the teaching themes on Sunday aim to  ensure we always reflect our key values so they make sense in the real world.  You will lead this work through our Sunday children’s groups – Buds (pre school), Saplings (school years r-2) and Forest (school years 3-6) – as well as supporting children’s activities in our wider church events such as the church weekend away.

Sunday children’s work development.

To nurture our children on their faith journey, in a way that reflects the values and ethos of One Church. In practise, this will involve:

• Organising great kids work content that is dynamic, creative and inclusive,  and that enables every child to make sense of faith in the real world.

• Pulling together a curriculum of content that helps the kids grow in, question, and express faith. This will involve drawing on external resources where helpful, but also developing resources where there aren’t suitable children’s group work curricula available. 

• Ensuring that our church space is a suitably equipped, bright, attractive  place that is child friendly and accessible for everyone including those with additional needs. 

• Being creative and thinking ‘outside the box’ about what kids work in a  church should be - we don’t want to be bound by the way things have  always been done.

Discipleship and community outside of Sundays.

We have a wonderful group of children, and our heart is to provide more  spaces for them to grow in love, community and discipleship together beyond  Sunday mornings. This might look like meeting up to fly kites together,  forming some regular Journey Groups or mentoring relationships to do life  and faith in meaningful ways, taking trips to Rock Farm (our therapeutic  smallholding in West Sussex) to get some dirt under their nails, or  alternatively just getting together to watch a movie and paint their nails!  Whatever it looks like, we believe that a life of faith is a life best done together,  and we want our kids to have that sense of being a part of a family in which  they are completely welcome to be themselves, to bring their faith and their  questions, and to see the whole of life as a part of their spiritual journey.

We are particularly keen to invest in our Key Stage 2 group as they transition to become part of our youth work. We also encourage collaboration with our Youth Group and joint sessions to explore and develop mentorship opportunities across the age groups. You, alongside the Youth Worker will be responsible for how this comes together  to develop a strong pathway between the groups.

Supporting families.

Parenting is rarely a walk in the park, and helping kids find their feet in faith can be tricky at the best of times. To add to this, though, many of the parents and carers in our church are asking questions around what it looks like to support our kids in faith when their own understanding of God and the Bible is often uncertain and full of more questions than answers! How do we pass on the great bits of our faith without some of the more problematic baggage that often comes along with it? This isn’t an easy question and it’s not one that you’ll come sailing in with an answer to, but it is one that you’ll need to be able to engage with with as you spend time carefully listening to, and encouraging  our children and their parents.

Volunteer Recruitment and Support.

Recruiting, training and developing volunteers is absolutely essential to this role! Without a team of inspired and enthusiastic volunteers your job will be impossible. Working out strategies, communicating with passion and vision and following people up in informal and fun ways are key to getting people to volunteer and you’ll need to invest well in this task for the success of the children’s work for One Church. You’ll

hold regular meetings with your team of volunteers to provide support and motivation, with help from our Volunteer Coordinator, Head of Operations and Associate Minister. 

Communication.

We need to tell others about all that is happening in the life of our children’s work! Part of this role will be communicating with parents and the wider church family about how One Church is equipping and nurturing their children through their spiritual journey and Christian faith. Alongside one to one chats, this will also involve the ability to inspire through ‘up-front’ verbal communication in a variety of settings including children’s talks/activities on Sundays, as well as web-based and printed communications.

Administration.

Self-organisation, good time-keeping and an attention to detail will be key. The coordination and support of a rota and clear plan for our children’s work is crucial. The better our children’s work is organised, the easier it’ll be for parents and volunteers to be engaged and to feel supported.

Safeguarding.

This role will, with support from the Associate Minister and the Safeguarding team, be responsible for ensuring good practices around child-protection and safeguarding as well as the health and safety of our kids and team.

Team Work.

We have a diverse and broad staff team, your role will sit within the Sundays and Church Community Team (Minister, Associate Minister, Development and Wellbeing facilitator and Youth Worker). You will need to be good at, and committed to, working with others. This might be quite intensive times of working one-on-one with a colleague or it might be simply being aware of the work of another team, but either way your role will help foster a strong sense of togetherness and a supportive culture where nobody’s work is more important than anyone else’s. You’ll also be a part of our weekly wider staff meeting.

Kids work in the community. 

We’ve always dreamed of increasing our kids work to benefit more people in our local area and across the city, whether that’s by exploring options to support struggling children in local schools, meeting and building relationship with families that use our café, supporting the work of Chomp, or any initiative that helps families at their point of need. This might be tricky to fit into 16 hours a week, but funding dependent, we’d be really open to expanding the role to include this area of work.

The District Administrator is the first port of call in the District office and acts as an essential point of contact for all 19 Circuits and their Churches within the District.

The District Administrator will work collaboratively with the Senior District Administrator and be proactive with good organisational skills.

The role will provide administration support in a number of areas to support the Senior District Administrator, with emails, setting up meetings, maintaining records and databases.

Main Responsibilities

• Responsible for incoming emails, telephone calls and meeting and greeting visitors.
• Accurate and effective use of information management systems including general office filing, electronic file management, scanning, archiving, databases, other electronic records, spreadsheets and hard copy paper records, regularly updating as required.
• Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, and forms.
• Assist with maintaining and updating the District Directory and databases.
• Assist with the administration for representative and presbyteral synod.
• Managing and ordering office supplies and research new deals and suppliers
• Maintaining office equipment, i.e. photocopiers and printers for smooth office functionality
• Communicate meetings and agendas to attendees. Take minutes when required and arrange lunches and refreshments.
• Assist with the management of the District Zoom accounts.
• Any other duties and responsibilities identified by the Chair and the Senior District Administrator as are within the capabilities and level of responsibility of the role in order to meet the needs of the District.

The Richmond & Hounslow Methodist Circuit is looking for a reliable and committed individual to support the life and work of our group of churches in SW London. They will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper organisation and management of our finances to enable our mission.

Key responsibilities:

• overseeing the Circuit’s day to day financial management

This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. It is specifically expected that the role will allow for flexible scheduling to accommodate other responsibilities, including caring.

The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. To fulfil this mission, the Circuit fosters a broad spectrum of ministry within its congregations, focusing on worship but also engaging in outreach to the homeless, asylum seekers, new parents, and various other groups. To maintain good practice standards, provide timely information and advice to local churches, and operate a robust casework service.  To sustain and further develop a comprehensive safeguarding training programme that delivers nationally approved training effectively and with impact. 

We are seeking to appoint two experienced Safeguarding Officers on a permanent contract; altogether 1.3 full-time equivalent between the two posts, with hours being negotiable with successful candidates.The post holders will have a relevant professional qualification and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of direct safeguarding practice with vulnerable adults or children or both. The successful applicants will be expected to provide effective leadership across the District to promote a culture of safeguarding, whilst supporting survivors of abuse.Working with partners from the Church’s Learning Network, the post holders will be expected to contribute to the planning and delivery of the District’s safeguarding training programme.

The post holders will be expected to be in sympathy with the aims of the Methodist Church.

Location: Home-based, own transport is essential as travel will be required region-wide.We need one member of staff to cover Cumbria and North Lancashire.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 17:00. Also to include some evenings and occasional weekends.

Salary: £40,000 to £42,000 pro rata, dependent on experience.

Holidays: 25 days plus 8 bank holidays
