East London Students' Union is a progressive charity that supports around 25,000 students that study at the University of East London. We are based in one of the most diverse boroughs in Europe and our membership proudly reflects the communities where we are based.

Our second café is currently under construction and will open on our Stratford campus in mid-September.

Horatio’s Garden is a nationwide charity creating and nurturing beautifully designed gardens in NHS spinal injury centres. We are seeking two creative, dynamic people with warm and welcoming personalities for the roles of Patient Support Coordinator, one for each of the following locations:

• Horatio's Garden Midlands, The Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries
• Horatio’s Garden Scotland, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

You will be responsible for organising and running a range of social and creative activities for people with spinal injuries and their families and friends to enjoy during the week and at weekends, creating an uplifting, friendly atmosphere in Horatio’s Garden and garden room.

Currently the programme includes crafts, quizzes, glass fusing workshops, felting, printing, talks, painting, ceramic workshops, seasonal celebrations with lunches, baking, live music performances and social afternoons. 

You will need to be a highly organised person who is confident working independently in the garden and via Teams with the Events Programme Manager, Evie Redwood. The role is part-time, 10.5 hours a week, consisting of one weekend afternoon (approx. 4 hours), a weekday afternoon workshop (approx. 3.5 hours) and 3 hours of admin time a week. You will need to be flexible with your availability, working when patients are available – this can vary. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-driven, proactive individual who is efficient, well-organised and has an outgoing personality. You will need to be adaptable and happy working with a wide range of stakeholders including people with spinal injuries and their families, NHS staff, volunteers and many different teams within the charity.

Key responsibilities for the role of Patient Support Coordinator include:

· Creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging people with spinal injuries and their families to engage in the Events Programme that is organised in the garden.

· Asking patients what activities they would like to do.

· Working virtually with the Events Programme team to plan activities that reflect patients’ requests.

· Going into the wards to help patients to come out to the garden and garden room in hospital beds or wheelchairs. You will have training for this.

· Hosting creative workshops in the garden, ensuring all aspects run smoothly.

· Running arts and craft sessions yourself, organising social activities and writing quizzes so a creative flair is essential.

· Booking high-quality speakers, entertainers and freelance creative people to run sessions.

· Working alongside session facilitators to support them. 

· Coordinating catering arrangements and serving food and drinks.

· Making posters and updating blackboards to promote activities, as well as   advertising the sessions via word of  mouth.

· Building relationships with NHS teams in the spinal unit.

· Handling the administrative side of the role, including risk assessments, ordering materials and budget-monitoring.

· Collecting feedback from patients, their visitors and NHS staff during and after the sessions.

Role Context

The Team Leader is responsible for supporting the development, management, and supervision of the Kentown Support therapeutic offer. The expectation of the Team Leader role is that 50% of their time will be allocated to their supervisory responsibilities, including line management of designated staff. The remainder of their time will be allocated to casework support. The Team Leader will support with contract monitoring and reporting requirements of the service, ensuring high quality delivery, ongoing support for the team, and the growth and development of new projects and initiatives.

Role Purpose

The postholder will provide line management support to staff within this team, ensuring effective case management and supervision. The role will include supporting and working with the CYP and CC Therapy Services Coordinator and Manager and other team members to drive continuous improvements to service delivery as well as ensuring monitoring reports are completed in line with requirements for our commissioners.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Management of staff:

• Provide 1:1 line management supervision and casework support for the designated contract with the CYP and CC Therapy Service Manager’s guidance.
• Identify staff training and development needs as part of supervision and appraisal process.
• Effectively undertake annual appraisals and support staff to meet their Personal Development Plan.
• Lead on the day-to-day oversight of the services in the CYP and CC Therapy Coordinator’s absence (avoid booking annual leave during this same time when possible).
• Ensure referrals are allocated appropriately in line with team members’ targets and capacity with support and guidance.
• Develop training plans for new starters during their probationary period.
• Lead on the support and supervision for any student social workers and counselling trainees placed within the CYP Team in close collaboration with the Student Social Worker Placement team.
• Provide support around safeguarding issues to the team members together with CYP and CC Therapy Service Coordinator and Manager.

Service Development:

• Lead on the oversight and development of the Kentown Support service, in collaboration with service management.
• Take a solution-focused and evidence-based approach to service challenges.
• Support CYP and CC Therapy Service management in developing policies and procedures in line with best practice.
• Represent the Kentown Support service at meetings, forums, and events where appropriate.
• Undertake initial investigations into complaints relating to the Service as needed.
• To assist in the development of the Service by working with other VCSE organisations, schools, and statutory and NHS bodies to enhance the wellbeing and resilience of their service users.
• Implement HR processes as appropriate and agreed, reporting issues upwards whilst seeking to intervene at the earliest opportunity so as to seek a resolution.

Contract Monitoring:

• Report to the CYP and CC Therapy Service Manager on the delivery of the Kentown Support Service on a regular basis.
• To lead on service monitoring and reporting to ensure it is completed in line with contract requirements.
• To meet with commissioners and funders as required to support the service.

Providing therapeutic support to individuals:

• Offer therapeutic interventions and support to individuals and families on your caseload. This may be with adults in the family or with children and young people in the family.
• Provide post-bereavement support to family members following the death of a child with a life-limiting condition. This may be families you have already supported in this role, or you may begin to work with new families referred by the CCN team.
• Offer a holistic package of support that is tailored to the needs of the families you are working with. This may include working around their wellbeing, building resilience, and developing coping strategies.
• Employ a flexible approach to the support by offering a mixture of open-ended and time-limited interventions

Position: Programme Officer

Reporting to: Senior Programme Manager

Location: Sidcup, Greater London, and hybrid working of 1 day in the office and 4 days remote (subject to change)

Starting Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 gross per annum (based on experience) plus benefits

Purpose

The Programme Officer will be responsible for supporting the effective implementation of project delivery activities across our portfolio, predominantly in Africa, Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. 

The post holder will support project delivery, ensuring quality expectations (internal and client), delivering within the scope and budgeted resources of projects, and in line with project timelines. The post holder will work closely with other members of the project delivery team, our technical team, delivery partners, and consultants to ensure projects maximise their positive impact.

The Programme Officer will also support the Senior Programme Manager to disseminate good management practice across the organisation, and advise on delivery approaches.

Main Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Programme Officer include the following:

Project Support

• Provide support to Programme Managers in the delivery of projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and scope and comply with client contracts
• Take on the project management of assigned select projects within a determined budget/complexity threshold, ensuring that they are delivered to time and quality
• Set-up and monitor project workplans, including change requests ensuring that approvals are formally recorded and filed
• Manage day-to-day relationships with delivery partners and internal team(s) and build a solid understanding of delivery needs and timelines across projects
• Monitor and support timely client and consultant billing and invoices attached to delivery
• Support onboarding of consultants for new projects, including due diligence checks and contract preparation based on set templates
• Ensure project management software and tools are accurate and kept up to date for allocated projects
• Provide timely responses to client queries and alert the Head of UK/Kenya Programme Management of any potential risks
• Lead duty of care and travel planning for staff and consultants, working alongside administrative officers
• Liaise closely with technical colleagues, Head of team, and Programme Managers / Officers on project support needs.

 Project Financial Management

• Monitor project budget performance, capturing variances and liaising with the Finance Team and Head of UK/Kenya Programme Management
• Monitor and support the processing of consultants’ expenses/fees against contracts and client invoices against contracts
• Make recommendations to ensure financial outcomes are met with respect to time, quality and cost, and provide early warning of project overspend
• Prepare internal project update reporting including finances and resourcing using required management tools. 

Organisational Support and Business Development

• Provide support in strengthening policies, procedures, and management tools for Development Pathways
• Coordinate with wider project teams to ensure technical capacity is well planned across Development Pathways’ portfolio of projects 
• Signpost colleagues to relevant project management tools and processes, when required
• Support project closure processes as required, capturing and sharing lessons internally
• Provide ad hoc input to evolving organisational requirements as directed by senior members
• Assist with the identification and monitoring of business opportunities in donor markets, as requested
• Update SharePoint and ensure project data sheets are developed and up to date to facilitate bids for tenders
• Collate and share project information to support the Business Development and Communications department.

Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours

The Programme Officer will require the following combination of applied skills, knowledge, and behaviours to successfully contribute to team goals:

Required:

• An undergraduate degree in an appropriate subject 
• Up to 2 years’ experience working on project support or delivery within international development,  research and/or the consultancy sector
• Ability and confidence to work independently and manage their own workflows
• Good communication skills and an ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders at the individual level and in representation of the organisation
• Excellent drafting skills.
•  Ability to understand and effectively analyse and utilise financial information
• Proven ability to resolve problems, anticipate barriers and create practical solutions
• High IT proficiency (Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), SharePoint, etc.)

With our transition to the Royal College of Pharmacy drawing nearer we are looking to recruit a Director of Finance and Technology to help with the implementation of our strategic plan and overall leadership and management of the College. This brand new role will lead the Finance and Technology functions and manage our property and investment portfolio to deliver against the Objects of the College.

The Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer will work alongside the Head of Income, Partnerships and Communications to help deliver Rising Sun’s fundraising targets during this exciting period of growth for the charity.

The main focus of the role is finding, attracting and stewarding new funders to help deliver Rising Sun’s life changing services. You will write compelling funding proposals that demonstrate the impact of our services and how we meet funders’ requirements. You will build strong relationships with grant officers from various foundations, providing regular updates and communicating challenges, solutions and successes as appropriate to develop our reputation as an effective, reliable and trustworthy organisation.  Alongside this you will be nurturing our existing portfolio of funders to help prioritise multi-year funding.

Working with you in the Fundraising Team will be the Head of Income, Partnerships and Communications, Trusts and Foundations Officer, Community Fundraising Officer and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Team. As part of the team you will help to develop fundraising materials such as case studies, impact reports and cases for support.

We are looking for a proactive and organised individual who loves building and nurturing relationships and has a passion for fundraising. In addition, you will have excellent writing skills and experience of generating income from trusts and foundations to grow our income from this stream. As part of our committed team of approximately 50 staff, you will be contributing to the invaluable work of the Rising Sun and making a lasting difference to the lives of those who have experienced domestic abuse.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and manage part of Rising Sun’s portfolio of income and fundraising activities related to trusts and foundations.
• Keep the trusts and foundations stream of the funding pipeline healthy and up to date, carrying out research into new opportunities and meeting application deadlines. 
• Write compelling funding applications that answer funders’ questions and effectively communicate the mission, services and impact of Rising Sun.
• Develop appropriate fundraising tools, such as cases for support and impact reports.
• Support the Head of Income, Partnerships and Communications to write bids for commissioned services and government funding opportunities.
• Liaise internally across the organisation to become familiar with our services and stay up to date with current trends to feed into funding applications and develop project proposals.
• Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including survivors and grant officers.
• Be responsible for the management of successful trusts and foundations grant agreements and reporting requirements, working with the wider team to gather information and data as required.
• Work with survivors and team members to develop case studies, presentations and fundraising materials as required to support income generating activities.
• Represent Rising Sun at fundraising events and pitches as required.

Role Context and Purpose

• You will be working in partnership with Kentown Support Nurses and the wider team to improve access to therapeutic support for families where there is a child who is receiving end-of-life care. Sessions may take place with adults in the family or children and young people.
• You will manage a caseload of referrals from the Kentown team. You will be working with the family to offer a holistic package of support tailored to their needs, improving wellbeing, building resilience, and developing coping strategies. The majority of sessions will be completed face-to-face within GM, out in the community, although virtual or phone sessions may also take place. Our counsellors employ a flexible approach, which will involve a mixture of open-ended and time-limited interventions.
• You will also be providing post-bereavement interventions to family members who have lost a child with a life-limiting condition. Post-bereavement support could be offered to the families you supported in this role, or you may begin work with new families (referred by the Kentown team).

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Leading on therapeutic interventions for the families on your caseload; working in a person-centred way to effectively meet the needs of individuals and the family unit. Counsellors will draw on a wide range of therapeutic approaches, adapting their style as needed, and engaging in continuous learning and improvement.
• Working as part of the team developing and contributing to the provision of services for families within the remit of the contract. This may include partnership working with other organisations providing services to families on your caseload, developing and maintaining effective professional relationships with other staff across Gaddum and with other professionals involved in family care (Kentown Support, CCN Team, CSC, schools, etc).
• Participation in the day-to-day running of Gaddum’s services in the Kentown Support Service. Using appropriate networks to raise awareness of the service within statutory, voluntary, and independent organisations. Supporting social work and other trainee placements when necessary.
• Provision of practical and emotional support to families that have been referred into the service, signposting and referring to local provision where appropriate. Also, liaising with and working alongside existing support groups.
