The Role
This is a work from home post and can be based remotely anywhere within the UK. There will be the need to travel to meetings in London occasionally and travel to our services across England and Scotland on an ad hoc basis.
As the newly appointed Business Development Finance Partner, you will work closely with the Head of Business Development and Director in identifying and evaluating new opportunities as well as working across the Organisation to support ongoing contract management and financial business management activities.
You will support our operational leadership across the UK to evaluate, monitor and review the financial aspects of new business opportunities, leading on financial elements of tenders and grants as well as contract management and risk appraisal processes.
The position provides an ideal opportunity for individuals with a strong finance background (qualified or part-qualified accountants) to develop and enhance their careers through transitioning into a business management role.

The Finance and Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the finance support service for the organisation together with operational support for Governance, Admin & HR.

Purpose of the Post
- To Provide financial leadership and to be accountable for financial reporting to the leadership team, Board, and stakeholders.
- To be responsible for effective management of the day-to-day office administration, and HR processes.
- To undertake company secretarial duties to ensure compliance with statutory requirement and relevant legislation.
- To work directly with the leadership team and board supporting business planning, organisational development, and to ensure Eclipse meets its aims and objectives.
The Finance and Operations Manager is a key relationship for internal staff and suppliers as well as fielding enquiries from artists, partners and the general public.
Terms and Conditions

Salary: £35,000 gross per annum (pro rata if applicable)
Location: Working from home with some working from company office in Leeds with reasonable notice

Role responsibilities
The Finance & Operations Manager is responsible for:
Finance
- Preparation, monitoring, and control of the budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Provision of clear and timely management accounts to the senior team and Board of Trustees.
- Administration of the company’s financial systems through day-to-day bookkeeping including data entry, management of petty cash, processing of invoices and bank reconciliation.
- Liaising with the external payroll provider and payment of monthly salaries.
- Overseeing the preparation of the annual statutory accounts and management of the annual independent examination.
- Supporting in the delivery of an annual report or funder reports as needed, including Arts Council England NPO reporting requirements and quarterly payment conditions.
Governance
- Leading on the arrangements for Board Meetings and Away Days: minute taking, writing and circulating agenda and documentation, post-meeting minutes and communicating with the Trustees pre-meeting on location, time and attendance.
- Regularly reviews the company’s policy making – ensuring the company maintains and abides by its policies e.g. Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Environmental and Staff Handbook.
Administration & HR
- Day to day responsibility for managing the HR function of the company.
- Keeping in contact with and responding in a timely manner to any queries from key stakeholders.
- Support the organisation to maintain key relationships and deliver report writing.
- General administration and office management lead.
- Management of the company calendar.
- Administration of company compliance and reporting to statutory bodies e.g. Companies House and the Charities Commission.
- Working as a central point of contact through phone and email.
- Management of the company administration systems.
- Support the delivery of contracts and letters of agreement.

The organisation Working with a very well-established charitable foundation, the organisation comprises of three independent schools and two state-funded academies.
They are the holding company which owns the school land and buildings and manages the endowments valued at c.£50m. The Foundation Office delivers a "head office" type finance function for the Group and a range of other services to the schools, including governance and HR.
Your role The Group Finance Manager will work within a small team and an extended team of around 15-20 finance staff in the schools. The post reports to the Group Finance Director and the finance function are assisted by a part-time Finance Officer. The core part of the role is the production of the
annual report. You will also manage the group cash treasury system, managing 20+ bank accounts.
You will manage significant investments and investment property. You will also maintain an accurate cash flow forecast for the group. The annual audit is also a major part of the work, and you will be expected to play a key part in the management of the audit and preparation of the financial information for both the Foundation, and its trading subsidiaries and charitable trusts. There are significant capital projects in the pipeline which will also require support.
What you will need to succeed

The Role and the Team
Blue Light Card Foundation is seeking an experienced and innovative Charity Chief Executive Officer who's passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of the blue light community by developing the charity’s strategy, to enable it to grow and flourish in supporting its mission.
Blue Light Card Foundation want every member of the blue light community to know that they have support, and to know where to find it in their time of need.
We fund projects across the UK to provide those that deal with the most challenging situations with quality resources, connected environments, and places that support their wellbeing.
What You’ll Do

Develop and implement strong strategic plans and put these into action in a scalable and sustainable way

Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment by actively engaging in mentoring initiatives, empowering colleagues to reach their full potential, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and professional development

Create strategic relationships, collaborative partnerships outside the charity and act as an ambassador and advocate for Blue Light Card Foundation

Represent Blue Light Card Foundation at senior meetings within the blue light sector

Oversee and implement recruitment, selection, training, development and performance management of colleagues

Monitor the effectiveness of Blue Light Card Foundation’s work in making a difference and implement change in response to feedback and data

Ensure the health and safety and safeguarding of the blue light community is supported by Blue Light Card Foundation programmes

Ensure that Trustees are kept well-informed of key developments in Blue Light Card Foundation and provided with sufficient financial and management information to enable them to exercise their statutory responsibilities

Manage the charity budget and produce regular financial reports and forecasts

Implement sound, sustainable funding plans, oversee fundraising activities ensuring these meet the needs of the foundation

Develop and implement integrated campaigns, effective marketing channels and media strategy, reporting on impact and raising the charity presence and profile

Ensure full and accurate reporting including the preparation of an annual report and financial statements to the Charity Commission
What You’ll Bring

Senior leadership experience within the charity sector including leading teams in demanding public-facing roles

Experience of growing and managing charity programmes, strong governance skills, communications, events and fundraising oversight

Experience of developing strong external public relationships promoting and representing an organisation

Experience securing funds and working with funding partners and knowledge of funding methodology and related financial issues

Grant management and grant making decisions and oversight

An understanding of the key measures of financial management and control in a challenging environment

Strategic thinking with sound strategic planning, ability to articulate a clear vision and a track record of achieving targets

Strong stakeholder management skills and a management style which encourages, motivates, inspires, supports, and develops colleagues

Commitment to relevant legislation and good practice in relation to equality and diversity and safeguarding and promoting good mental health and wellbeing in the blue light sector

Experience within the blue light sector would be an advantage
