The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative and versatile finance business partner to join us at this time of growth. Reporting to Head of Finance, and working alongside other Finance Business Partners, you will be responsible for providing your financial expertise and support to our key stakeholders, playing an important part in enabling us to meet our ambitious strategy.

This is an exciting role in a supportive and well established finance team, giving you the opportunity to further develop the finance function and shape your role. You will bring strong communication, analytical and systems skills, as well as flexiblity and motivation to engage in cross organisational projects.

Main areas of responsibility

Business partnering:

• Provide a high-quality financial support to the nominated internal stakeholders. These may vary and will include some of the following: Food, Supply Chain & Logistics teams, Network Partner support, Operational centres (warehouses) and Support functions.
• Deliver monthly management accounts and KPI reporting for the nominated stakeholders. Monitor spend and provide financial insight and expertise to drive the delivery in line with FareShare’s strategic direction.
• Collaborate with the nominated internal stakeholders to develop and manage budgets and forecasts.
• Enhance financial reporting and analysis and develop KPI capabilities for the nominated stakeholders.
• Coach budget holders on finance systems and processes to develop effective budget management and controls.
• Provide cover for other Finance Business Partners when required, mainly around month end processes and management account reporting.

Financial accounting:

• Involvement in month end processes: produce month end journals, conduct balance sheet reconciliations for the nominated business centres.
• Support with the development and monitoring compliance of the financial policies and processes and controls.
• Oversee financial aspects of grants, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting to funders.

People and / or project management:

• Provide financial guidance and support to the finance transactional team.
• Line manage (or dotted line management responsibilities, dependant on experience) the finance offices in the operational centres (warehouses).
• Lead on process improvements in the business areas of responsibility.
• Provide any other support as and when required.
• Some travel to the operational centres and network partners, across the UK, will be required.

Person Specification

 Skills, experience and abilities

• CIMA/ACCA/ACA fully qualified or equivalent experience
• Business partnering experience, preferably in a similar size organisation and business model. Experience in the commercial Supply Chain & Logistics industry will be of advantage.
• A good track record in managing month end processes
• Strong financial accounting background
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using a range of accounting software and financial reporting tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt a style to various stakeholders
• Ability to build effective relationships across teams, ensuring staff are supported, motivated and challenged to achieve objectives

Delphside Limited is entering an exciting phase of change, but is mindful of the challenges the mental health care and charity sector as a whole is facing.

The role is a temporary role (6-12 months) to help direct and support changes of financial systems, data control processes and to help ensure the current team, including our current Finance Manager, are supported with the implementation of a more up to date and effective way of working.

Main Responsibilities :

· Provide full review of current financial controls, identify and implement a new financial I.T./software system suited to service needs.

· Oversee the procurement, implementation and transition to the new financial I.T./software system once it is identified.

· The post holder will assist with the strategic planning and budget preparation for the organisation as well as maintaining the charity's financial accounting systems.

· To provide support to the Finance Manager by overseeing the preparation of the organisation’s accounts for audit in accordance with current accounting good practice and Charity Commission’s Standards of Recommended Practice (SORP)

· Lead, develop and support a small dedicated finance and administration team

· Long term financial planning and assisting the CEO with succession planning in the finance area of the service, including creation of a financial risk register.

· Assist in setting the annual budget and report on performance.

· Oversee timely production by the Finance manager of monthly management accounts and the annual statutory accounts.

· Ensure a robust financial control environment and ensure all treasury and Financial Governance management are in place, suitable and effective.

About the role
A key member of WVUK’s Humanitarian & International Programmes (HIP) management team, you’ll lead the unit that’s responsible for acquiring around £35m of institutional donor funding (grants & contracts) each year, as well as corporate and philanthropic proposal development on behalf of the Strategic Partnership Directorate. About you

To succeed, you’ll need proven experience of developing and maintaining relations with institutional donors, analysing their funding requirements and shifting worldviews (particularly DFID/FCDO, EU/ECHO), and working with, managing, and developing relationships with consortium partners. You’ll also need field experience of working in different cultures and religious contexts. Proactive and creative in improving existing processes and developing new ones to improve efficiency and effectiveness, you’re adept at knowledge management within a demanding team environment and used to line managing and training, mentoring or capacity building a team.

You’re an excellent project manager too - someone who’s comfortable working on complex multiple tasks and prioritising to meet deadlines. Expertise in a specific technical area - e.g., child protection, health, nutrition, livelihoods, social accountability, resilience or economic development, would also be useful, as would working knowledge of a second language. Who are you?

You should be accomplished in Sage 50 Accounts and have considerable experience working in a finance function and in financial administration.

Some experience of working with Salesforce or an equivalent CRM database and an accountancy qualification or studying towards a professional qualification ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA) or AAT qualified. Experience of working in the Voluntary Sector, paid or unpaid would be great.

You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills (a natural ability to clearly communicate financial information to those with a non-finance background). You need to have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and experience in database and payroll systems.

It would be amazing for you to have high level of attention to detail and methodical working, be a self-starter and be able to use initiative.

Duties and key responsibilities 

Leadership, Collaboration & Line Management 

• Support the Director of Operations through preparation for and reporting to governance meetings.

Finance Policy & Process Management

Cashflow & Bank Account Management 

• Manage the ongoing relationships with MAP’s banks in the UK. 

• Maintain UK bank accounts and ensure financial governance is in place for overseas bank accounts.

• Ensure bank mandates and online banking operations are reviewed and updated on time. 

• Monitor and manage the organisation's cash flow to ensure there are sufficient currency funds to meet operational needs. 

• Review fund and payment  requests from overseas offices and that planned activities are within budget. 

• Release all payments from UK bank accounts, including UK payroll. 

Financial Controls 

• Implement appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures to protect against fraud and misappropriation. 

• Oversee and manage all payroll budgets and forecasts. 

• Oversee the payroll functions, ensuring adequate internal controls and approvals are in place and adhered to, and all statutory requirements are met. 

• Ensure regular reconciliations are made between the accounting system and the CRM. 

• Oversee legacy administration liaising with the Legacy Advisor. 

Risk Management 

• Risk management – manage strategic and operational financial risks working with the Head of Internal Audit & Compliance.

• Maintain insurance policies across all MAP offices to ensure appropriate and adequate risk mitigation and meet statutory requirements.

Experience 

• Extensive experience in a finance leadership role within a complex charitable organisation, working internationally. 

• Experience of UK charity finance practice and governance - UK Charities SORP FRS 102. 

• Excellent technical knowledge and skills in accountancy principles, governance, and standards, including preparation of statutory accounts. 

• Successful track record of managing financial systems, and cashflow.

Overview / purpose of the role

We’re looking for a Finance & Operations Assistant who is interested in developing a career in bookkeeping and/or accountancy within the nonprofit sector. No previous experience is required, just lots of passion and a motivation to pursue a long-term career in charity finance. The successful candidate will undertake training with the AAT (funded by us) towards a bookkeeping qualification alongside working as our Finance & Operations Assistant, you will be given some time to study during your working hours for this qualification.

The Finance & Operations Assistant is a central resource within CGP, working with colleagues in the Operations Team, and across the organisation to provide financial and operational support to all areas of our work. They will work closely with the Head of Operations & Evaluation to process invoices, expenses and conduct weekly payment runs, ensuring that all financial policies and procedures are carefully adhered to. They will also support colleagues to follow our financial policies and processes and act as the first point of contact for any questions on these procedures. Additionally, they will provide general administrative and operational support to colleagues as outlined in the below job description.

Responsibilities

Finance

● Managing our accounts payable inbox, monitoring all incoming invoices and following up with team members on any missing information if required

● Processing and coding invoices  in Xero accounting software ahead of weekly payment runs

● Checking that correct coding and approval procedures are followed for staff expenses in Soldo

● Conducting weekly payment runs via our online banking system

● Coordinating our monthly payroll processes (working with external providers)

● Working with the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance to support the development of funding proposals

● Working with the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance to support financial reporting on grants for external donors

● Supporting the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance with general financial administration, record keeping and tracking budgets

● Provide training on expense and invoicing processes to new members of staff and generally acting as the first point of contact for all staff on any finance procedure questions (full training will be provided)

● Supporting the Senior Management Team (SMT) and our Director of Finance to develop the annual organisational budget and report against it quarterly

Office Management & General Operational Support

● Acting as the key point of contact between CGP & our coworking office space (organising memberships, meeting room bookings, invoices, printing credits, equipment, internal events etc.)

● Maintain/organise our filing and cloud storage systems logically and efficiently, in a data protection compliant manner.

● Ad hoc IT support as required, including online troubleshooting and logging support requests with service providers when necessary.

Human Resources

● Support with recruitment processes within CGP, including assisting members of the team to schedule and coordinate job interviews, contact candidates and file incoming applications.

Person specification

The right candidate is less likely to be defined by their qualifications and prior experience, but will be someone who meets the below criteria, and is ready to learn. They will have an aptitude for maths and finance,  excellent attention to detail and a meticulous, methodical approach to work and troubleshooting.

The Finance, Procurement, Strategic Planning and Analytics directorate, led by the Chief Financial Officer / VP (Finance), comprises c.150 roles located across our campuses in central London.  The Finance department of c.100 roles provides various accounting, assurance, advisory, decision support and financial processing functions for the whole university.

The Director of Finance Business Partnering (Operations) is a critical role within the Financial Strategy, Planning & Performance division that will lead, develop and deliver high quality finance business partnering and decision support to all the central services of the university, including providing financial planning, reporting and insight across revenue and capital funded activity. 

You will support the senior Director of the Financial Strategy, Planning & Performance function in development and improvement projects. Examples include the development of a professional competencies framework to support career progression and performance at all levels, supported by learning and development opportunities, improving key processes, resource allocation and financial planning methodologies, and reporting on financial performance.

As part of the function’s senior management team, this role will lead a team of finance business partners who will provide outstanding partnering services to our central services including large functions such as Estates and Facilities, IT, Students & Education, Research Management and on other crucial ‘head office’ activities. Working closely with the corporate reporting team on the provision of management accounts, you will lead on financial performance support in-year and across our three-year financial planning framework. You will also undertake and provide professional support to your team on business partnering skills, financial modelling, business case development and financial appraisals. You will play a wider role as a senior member of the finance leadership team on cross-college initiatives and be asked to deputise for the senior Director of the division or their peers.

It is an exciting time to join the university as we are making a step change in our support and advice, particularly to directorate heads and our Senior Vice Principal (Operations), and onwards through the leadership roles across the central service directorates where financial and operational decisions are made.
