Westway Trust is seeking a qualified accountant to join as our Head of Finance who will lead on all aspects of the finance function to achieve the Trusts goals.  You will also manage a small team and will offer strategic finance support across the range of activities undertaken by the organisation.

You will have significant experience operating at a senior level within a complex organisation and registered charity, and will possess the right blend and balance of strategic, communication, innovation and people skills.

Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

• Lead, manage and improve the Trust’s finance function and provide accurate, timely and relevant financial reports as required by the CEO, Executive Team and the Trust Board.
• Be the Executive Lead of the Finance Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring timely papers to the CEO and to the Committee and Board as required and liaising with the Head of Governance and HR as required.
• Ensure the provision and reporting of financial accounts, forecasting and large-scale project/programme budgets, estate development plans, and the associated reporting.
• Oversight of the legal and financial statutory processes in line with the Charity Commission and Companies House requirements, including the Annual Audit. Allocating tasks for timely responses and keeping all colleagues abreast of progress.
• Monitor, cash flow, reserves, analysis of performance against the organisation’s annual business plan and dashboard as it relates to the finance function.
• Contribute to the overall leadership of the Trust and to the Trust’s future strategic and operational planning. Support Executive Team colleagues as required on the delivery of cross-team initiatives.
• Line management of the Senior Finance Manager, the Debt Recovery Consultant and the Development Partnerships Lead.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• Significant and successful experience of operating as a Head of Finance, ideally in a charity setting.
• A track record of working collaboratively with a team to develop successful internal partnerships and achieve joint success against shared objectives.
• Experience of the finance function and all the associated processes, with strong attention to detail.
• Experience of implementing enhanced reporting tools within financial software, including the ability to coach others.
• Practical knowledge of VAT, including accounting of partial exemption relevant to charities.
• Experience of managing staff and supporting their development.
• Strong interpersonal skills for both workplace and external representation contexts, operating with enthusiasm, flexibility, energy and commitment and demonstrating credibility and gravitas.

Desirable Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• A good understanding of the local area.
• Experience of change management.
• Competency in use of Access Dimensions, Focal Point and other MS Office software packages.

Qualification:

• Must hold a formally recognised professional accounting qualification.

About You:

About The Role

• Lead on the planning and implementation of legacy and in mem fundraising portfolio, managing marketing campaigns from initial brief through to post campaign analysis. 
• Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with in mem supporters and legacy prospects in local communities, with the support of community fundraising managers and local volunteers – keeping these supporters at the heart of your work to to maintain and increase their support through excellent stewardship. 
• Prepare and administer correspondence and relevant paperwork and ensure maintenance for full and accurate database (D365/First Class) records, analysing financial and non-financial data to monitor and improve engagement and customer service performance.
• Proactively keep abreast of competitor activities, new initiatives and sector trends. 
• Effectively plan and execute legacy events around the country, with the aim of motivating supporters to consider leaving a gift in their Will.

Conservation Collective (CC) funds solutions to protect the environment, restore nature, and safeguard against climate change. The CC UK charity incubates, launches, and supports locally focused foundations which open new channels of funding to support the most impactful environmental grassroots projects. As the demand for our model increases around the world, our income and expenditure are growing in volume and complexity. We are looking for a Finance Officer to support our financial operations through this expansion: recording financial transactions, monitoring internal controls and coordinating with our local foundations about financial management. The role will report to the Finance Director and will work closely with the rest of the team. This is a critical role that is central to the success of building a robust organisation, and there is opportunity for an ambitious candidate to grow in responsibility with it.

Key Responsibilities:

 Carry out day-to-day financial transactions

· Process invoices to support fundraising efforts of local foundations in the network.

· Review vendors invoices as per internal controls and update them to the purchasing ledger for authorisation.

· Conduct on-going reconciliation of bank accounts and donor due diligence.

· Reconciliation of merchant accounts (Just Giving, Donorbox or Paypal) and prompt communication to local foundations and fundraising team.

· Setting up systems to process event, auction or other ad-hoc fundraising campaigns.

· Preparation of Gift Aid reporting on quarterly basis.

· Weekly payments administration using online banking.

· Maintain accurate records of financial transactions on Xero.

· Maintain monthly records of bank payments approval for audit purposes.

Coordinate income recognition with fundraising team members

· Notify local foundations about donations received and log required documentation.

· Provide formal receipts on received donations as requested.

· Reconcile Stripe transactions on Salesforce to maintain accurate donor records.

· Support with income reconciliation between Salesforce and Xero.

Support Finance Director on maintaining accurate financial information and developing ongoing internal controls

· Support creation of management accounts materials for trustees meeting.

· Support quarterly reconciliation of funds with our affiliated network member to communicate re-grants of donations

· Feed into the design of a financial manual – a how to guide for best practice in charity finance and governance oversight.

· Support annual external audit.

Supporting CC to deliver network benefits to local foundations

· Support members of the network with any financial queries.

· Communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders (Executive Directors, support team, donors) on financial queries.

· Invoice affiliates on cost recovery of services

Essential criteria:

· A recognized accounting qualification or studying towards the qualification, (CIMA, ACCA)

· Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles

· An ability to work quickly and accurately

· A proven track record of teamwork with non-technical colleagues

· Stellar communication skills, verbal and written

· A keen eye for detail

· An ability to work to deadlines

· Able to manage confidential information

· Demonstrable ability to work independently

In this Senior Technical Lead - Entrepreneurship role, you will use your deep expertise in innovative finance and enterprise development to lead and support the delivery of enterprise development programmes, both existing and upcoming, across various countries.

You will help shape SCUK's commercial strategies by providing strategic and commercial insights, guide existing initiatives, and sharing through best practice.

You will be instrumental to achieve the Innovation Hive's system change goals for entrepreneurship as a means to delivering impact, influencing not just the Save the Children movement, but also the broader NGO sector and beyond.

The Innovation Hive are a team focussed on achieving transformative, systemic, change for children, for our organisation, for our sector and beyond. To do this we run a corporate venturing function at SCUK backing innovation projects that will help us maximise the impact potential of existing and new resources, and increase funding directed towards Save the Children's mission. Our purpose is clear: to transform, build and champion new growth opportunities and business models, moving at pace and collaborating inside and outside of or organisation to do this.

Key Accountabilities include:
Technical

• Use deep technical expertise and proven experience on innovative finance and delivering enterprise development programmes to lead on the delivery and/or support of existing (eg. 3 Ukraine, Kumwe Hub) and upcoming (eg Turkey, Nigeria, Ethiopia) Enterprise Development programmes to exit point.
• Use proven commercial experience to support the development and delivery of the strategy to explore SCUK's commercial opportunities such as shared value partnerships.
• Provide guidance and advice on existing SCUK commercial initiatives.
• Work on the development of a “best-practice” advisory service for SCUK to support Enterprise Development programmes for local contexts.
• Working collaboratively across SCUK, Save the Children International, LIFT Lab, Save the Children Global Ventures, Kumwe Hub and Country Offices and others to design and support the implementation of those projects.
• Lead all aspects of an end-to-end opportunity, including origination, due diligence, design, committee approval, go-to-market strategy and oversight of delivery.
• Contribute commercial acumen to project design, delivery and evaluation.
• Provide strategic and analytical insight through the generation of accurate and compelling reports and presentations, including for internal and external stakeholders.

Thought Leadership

• Achieve the Innovation Hive's system change goals for entrepreneurship, influencing not just the Save the Children movement, but also the broader NGO sector and beyond.
• Influence and engage senior leaders with gravitas to build high-level buy-in for and understanding of your work.
• Be an active leader in relevant community of practices (or creating those that not yet exist) that bring together stakeholders, including donors, investors, and beneficiaries, to drive the adoption of enterprise development and innovative finance mechanisms.
• Lead and build essential partnerships with organisations and industry experts to ensure the delivery of strategic projects. Including specifically in the impact finance and social enterprise space, confidently representing Save the Children at key external events and building our presence.

Learning and Organisational Development

• Responsible for bringing best practice into Save the Children – and embedding your technical knowledge and learning across the organisation, specifically regarding innovative finance and enterprise development, to build organisational capacity.
• Draft and preparation of proposals, pitch decks, and associated materials to engage diverse client groups (e.g. the Innovation Hive's Investment Committee and relevant board steering committees) to ensure the Hive's activities are communicated highly effectively and strategically. 

About You
To be successful, it is important that you have the following skills and experience:

• Knowledge and proven multi-year experience on the strategic implementation and operationalization of Enterprise Development programmes.
• In-depth knowledge of current best practices in enterprise development and innovative finance, combined with established connections with industry experts and relevant networks, enabling the leveraging of these relationships for strategic advantage and collaborative opportunities.
• Demonstrated commercial expertise with a strong ability to guide and enhance commercial initiatives, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of market trends and business strategies to maximize impact and sustainability.
• Experience in senior leadership roles within a development, management consulting environment or equivalent.
• Significant experience with impact measurement, and management frameworks.
• An excellent stakeholder manager with demonstrated networking and influencing skills at all levels.
• Ability to adapt financial mechanisms to humanitarian and/or development contexts.
• Proven track record of project delivery.
• Creative and strategic in problem-solving, effectively involving multiple stakeholders with empathy and open-mindedness.
• Capable of handling complexity and uncertainty with a clear and organized thought process.
• Organized self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, eager to challenge the status quo.
• Quick at understanding new markets/products and passionate about impact, technology, and entrepreneurship, with a strong drive for personal and organizational growth.
• Focused on achieving targets aligned with organizational strategies and appreciative of the complexities in a global international organization.

Ways of Working:
The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter).  This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team and is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.

You will need a professional qualification in mental health or related fields alongside experience in senior management and a passion, resilience and drive to improve the mental health of children and young people.

This is a full-time position, with the possibility of reduced hours (min 30 hpw/4days) and is office-based in Croydon but with regular travel within SW London.
