Project Worker - Day Centre

Full-Time 37.5hrs per week

Part-Time 17.5hrs per week

Purpose of Role

Firm Foundation is a growing organisation committed to supporting people experiencing homelessness. This role sits at the heart of that mission, working directly with clients at our Day Centre to help them access suitable and sustainable housing, navigate available services, and engage with FirmFoundation's wider projects. The post holder will play a vital part in creating a safe, welcoming, and well-run environment where clients feel valued and supported.

Job tasks

·       Part-time: assist at FirmFoundation’s Day Centre sessions five times a week for 3 and half hrs and 1hr per month for supervision

Full-time: lead a small team ensuring that the Day Centre runs smoothly and manage our clients with a trauma informed approach

·       Ensuring sufficient supplies of “Shower Packs” for the Day Centre sessions

·       Working with and supporting volunteers who attend to provide food and/or social activities

·       Ensuring the safety and security of participants and venues during the Day Centre sessions

·       Initial assessment of client needs

·       Ensuring venues are left clean and tidy after Day Centre sessions

Administration

·        Record all client activity and outcomes accurately on FirmFoundation's information management system

·        Maintain necessary confidentiality in all record-keeping and communications

·         

Volunteer Coordination

·        Work alongside and support volunteers attending sessions to provide food, activities, and companionship

·        Help to create a warm and inclusive atmosphere that reflects FirmFoundation's values

Other duties commensurate with the role may be added by negotiation

Day Centre Project Worker – Person Specification

Essential

Strong communication skills, both written and spoken. Ability to support and coordinate volunteers. Ability to listen with patience, empathy, and understanding. Confidence in using IT, including Microsoft Office. Good organisational skills, including ability to manage supplies and venue logistics.

A positive and flexible attitude towards work

Ability to listen to clients with patience and understanding

Positive, flexible, and collaborative approach to work. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Confidence in using IT, especially Microsoft Office

Ability to work within a Christian ethos

Desirable

Understanding of support available locally, including from other agencies

Experience of using digital reporting systems

Experience of working with homeless and vulnerable people
