The Advice Service is dedicated to enhancing income, alleviating poverty, and ensuring secure housing for community members throughout London. As an integral part of the London Irish Centre's Community services, the Advice Service collaborates with our Support Service, Legal Advocate (benefit appeals), Community Programmes (responsible for events and activities), and our specialized Survivor Integrated Service. Together, we strive to deliver community-led and best-practice support.

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and knowledgeable Advice Worker to join our committed team. The successful candidate will bring expertise in welfare rights and housing, and a strong commitment to supporting those facing financial hardship or insecure living conditions. In this role, you will work directly with clients to deliver accredited advice and practical guidance, helping them navigate complex systems and secure the support they need. You will also collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to ensure a holistic and integrated service that puts community needs first.

 About You

• You have solid experience advising on welfare benefits and housing law, including issues like homelessness, entitlement, and disability benefits.
• You use a strength-based, person-centred approach to empower clients and achieve positive outcomes.
• You’re confident advocating for clients with agencies such as the DWP and local authorities, both in writing and verbally.
• You’re highly organised, able to manage competing demands, and proficient in using case management and information systems.
• You demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are comfortable working with diverse client groups and professionals.

Key areas of responsibility

· Work in line with the purpose, vision, mission, and values of the LIC.

· Deliver high-quality information and advice on housing and welfare benefits according to client needs. 

· Manage your own caseload and undertake casework with minimal supervision.

· Provide services in accordance with all relevant quality standards.

· Create and maintain comprehensive client and service provision records, using information technology and other systems.

· Support service delivery via telephone, drop-in, and pre-booked appointments, including staffing the response line as needed.

· Advocate on behalf of clients with third parties, including the Department for Work and Pensions and local authorities, by letter, telephone, email, and in-person.

· Contribute to multi-disciplinary service provision, build excellent working relationships, and establish referral pathways to achieve the best outcomes for clients.

· Maintain excellent knowledge of benefits, housing law, grants, as well as changes in law, practice, and supporting services.

· Work collaboratively with internal teams and services.

· Attend any outreach including social groups as required.

· Ensure safeguarding measures for vulnerable adults and children, as well as the health and safety of staff, volunteers, and clients, are followed in line with established processes.

· Comply with LIC policies and procedures, including those relating to confidentiality, data protection, equality, and diversity.

· Participate in meetings and commit to personal learning and professional development.

· Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by management.

A partnership organisation bringing together the NHS and the Alzheimer’s Society, as a Dementia Adviser within the service you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver dementia support, signposting and advice across the city.

This is a role that allows you to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.

About you
We are looking for someone who:

- is passionate about supporting people to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and help them to live well with dementia.
- has professional or personal experience of dementia and the challenges people affected by it may face.
- is comfortable working in the community – meeting people in their homes to deliver dementia support.
- is able to manage difficult conversations and adopt a non-judgemental approach.
- can network effectively and collaborate with other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for people.
- is capable of managing a caseload of service users effectively and independently, ensuring face to face reviews and telephone contacts happen within expected timescales.
- has strong written communication skills and can write case notes with clarity, accuracy and timeliness. Previous experience of writing case notes is not required.
- has the ability to travel across the local area independently as often as required

What you’ll focus on:

- Managing an existing caseload of service users as well as new referrals to deliver ongoing post-diagnostic support.
- Working collaboratively with NHS clinicians to ensure the right support is offered to people at the right time.
- Writing and updating of ‘Wellbeing Plans’ that capture a person’s history, current support needs, and future wishes. 
- Supporting our peer-support groups, delivering carers education courses and engaging in awareness raising events in the community.
- Identifying service user support needs and referring onwards to appropriate organisations (e.g. social services, other charity organisations).

Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)

Location: Mainly home based while covering a patch in Aylesbury, Oxford and the surrounding villages in Buckinghamshire. There is a requirement to travel and to visit the regional office for 121’s and Team meetings.  This patch would ideally suit someone living in or around Aylesbury

About the role

As one of our Housing Officers you will be responsible for delivering housing services directly to the residents on your patch reporting into a Housing Team Leader. You will deliver a full range of tenancy and estate services, including:

• Allocations
• Managing rent arrears
• Managing cleaning and grounds maintenance services
• Undertaking health and safety inspections
• Managing antisocial behaviour
• Dealing with a wide range of other tenancy enquiries and issues.

In this role, no two days are the same and you will have a real impact on people’s lives.

About you

You will need to be customer focussed and enjoy getting out and about meeting our residents. You will be self-motivated and be able to manage your own time effectively.

As this role is home based, you will need to be able to work under minimal supervision.

You will be organised, have an eye for detail and enjoy ‘getting stuck in’ to resolve resident issues, working in partnership with Hastoe colleagues and external organisations.

You will need to be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle as all our Housing Officers cover their own geographical area.

You will be as committed as we are in developing you in the role with access to training and career development. You’ll also need:

• Housing Management experience 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Problem solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations
• Experience of managing a diverse workload and effective task prioritisation

The Supporter Connection and Engagement Officer plays a key role in developing and deepening relationships with supporters through personal engagement, particularly via phone and email. This role helps to inspire generosity, communicate impact, and ensure every supporter feels valued and connected to Church Army’s mission. The work that the Supporter Engagement and Connection Officer does directly enables our frontline work to happen.

Salary: £24,815 per annum – pro-rated for part-time.

Hours: 23.5 – 30 hours per week.

Gifts in Wills plays a vital part in this, making one in three of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s (ARUK) pioneering research projects possible. This provides the platform for the continued investment in the legacy programme ensuring a strong pipeline is developed to support the research ambitions of the Charity.

The Legacy Casework officer is responsible for working on the case load of open legacy cases, taking responsibility for pecuniary, residuary legacies, and contentious cases, with the support of the Legacy Casework Manager (LCM).

The role requires experience and understanding of legacy administration, including knowledge of the legislation and precedents, ability to guide lay executors, review estate accounts, answer audit queries related to casework, and support the LCM to ensure the charity receives its entitlement, as per the Charity Commissions regulations.

It is also the responsibility of the Legacy Casework officer to ensure that the Legacy Admin CRM, First Class, is accurately representative of each case and all cases are in line with data protection principles.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Legacy administration

· Manage legacy cases assigned by LCM from notification to receipt.

· Record new legacy cases and all appropriate information, including income, using databases, setting up regular reviews in line with the Charity’s policy until the completion of the administration.

· Send correspondence to the solicitors, executors and next of kin including all relevant information, with support of LCM where necessary.

· Ensuring the charity receives its full entitlement, satisfying legal requirements by requesting copies of all relevant documentation, as outlined by the LCM.

· Assisting with the end of the Charity’s financial year auditing and accruals process, by attending and supporting LCM in audit meetings, as and when required.

· Reporting on notifications, highlighting any trends in notifications and/or gifts to LCM and Head of Legacy and In-Memory Giving.

· Advising, and supporting the LCM, in development of legacy casework processes and policies.

· Sign receipts for legacies as a delegated officer of ARUK.

Team support

· Inputting into annual planning and development of legacy and in memory marketing plans.

· Being actively involved in cross-functional activities as required, including matrix working.

 

What we are looking for:

· Experience of using First Class

· Qualified or working towards Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration/ Equivalent probate legal background

· Ability to manage multiple caseloads and remain calm under pressure.

· Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

· Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to analyse data to spot trends

· Delivers a high level of service to stakeholders, both internal and external

· Able to work as part of a team and autonomously when required

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals.  This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.
