In the ever-changing environment of youth work, it is vital that within Slough we have both, safe spaces for young people to develop positive and trusting relationships and opportunities for them to develop their talents, skills and aspirations.

Together As One (formerly Aik Saath) has delivered a variety of youth services across Slough for over 25 years and a young carers service for almost 10 years.

“Young carers are children and young people (up to the age of 18 or 25 with SEND) whose life is affected by looking after someone with a disability or long-term illness. The person they care for may be a parent, a sibling, another family member or a friend, but need not necessarily live in the same house as them. The care that young carers give may be practical, physical and/or emotional.”

The terms ‘disability’ and ‘long-term illness’ do not just mean a physical disability or illness, but also cover, for example, mental illness, learning disability, substance misuse, frailty and old age.

Job Role

Working closely with the Chief Executive and the wider Together As One team, you will support the development and delivery of our Young Carers Service in Slough. This will involve the oversight of any emergent funding or contracts and the reporting requirements back to the funders. This post will involve adapting and coordinating a service around the service users’ needs.

You will work in partnership with Slough Children Frist and Slough Borough Council and ensure a coordinated approach to supporting young carers is maintained including the transition from a young carer to an adult carer pathway is developed and formed. Promotion of the service will be a key aspect of this role and you will ensure that the service is promoted across various platforms.

The role will be required to network and maintain relationships with our strategic partners, including the ability to attend key meetings to develop the Slough Young Carers offer. You will become the main point of contact for the triage of referrals and communications.

You will work to identify and support volunteers to become engaged within our services and provision. You will collate a range of data, information and imagery that creates evidence of your work and the impact it is making not only to young people but also to the wider community.

There is scope for you to be creative in this role and make a significant difference to the young people you work with. This is a very exciting and varied role and as such, a flexible approach to work including willingness to take on tasks outside of the normal remit and to work irregular hours, is essential in this role.

We are seeking a passionate individual with a commitment to animal welfare to join our Education Team working within schools and in the community to educate children and families on responsible dog ownership and dog safety.

As an Education and Community Officer you will:

• Deliver, manage and facilitate workshops to a high professional standard which support our wider aims to our target audiences (via school, libraries and other interventions)
• Effectively Team teach with other Dogs Trust colleagues either in school, training or in a presentation when the need arises
• Manage a network of schools and services within a geographical region, including establishing and developing relationships to promoting our programme.

Dogs Trust Education Team have been carrying out workshops in schools and in the community since 2003. Educating the dog owners of the future about responsible dog ownership is an important part of what we do at Dogs Trust. By helping young people learn about the responsibilities and commitment involved in dog ownership, we believe that we can reduce the number of dogs that are mistreated and/or abandoned. Our workshops also incorporate key safety messages that are integral for keeping young people and their families safe when around dogs.

Good Neighbours Scheme and Telefriends Administrator 

Age UK Camden is looking to recruit a skilled Administrator to support our Good Neighbours Scheme and Telefriends Service. 

Our Good Neighbours Scheme offers befriending and companionship face to face.  Our Telefriends Service supports people to stay connected and offers a friendly listing ear over phone.  Both services are delivered with the support of our wonderful volunteers. 

The successful candidate will: 

• Answer the telephone line and be the first point of contact for enquiries from clients and referrers. 

• Be the administrator for the data base system in use which currently is Charity Log, Record details of client and referrer interactions and have the ability to produce statistics.

We are looking for a Project Manager for the ‘Innovative Manufacturing in Africa’ project. 

The project supports ‘makerspaces’ in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. It continues previous work by building their capacity, sharing knowledge and trialling innovative systems to help them generate revenue. It is supported by UK Aid’s RISA Fund and the mAkE Project. This is an wonderful opportunity to work with amazing people across Africa, to help invent new technologies and deliver a satisfying, successful project.

The Internet of Production is a small, international charity that brings together a global alliance dedicated to building a future of decentralized and distributed manufacturing. We seek to enable a sustainable and globally networked system of production, where products are fabricated using local capabilities and global designs; to complement mass production and global supply chains with ‘production by the masses’ and local enterprise. We work on open standards for networking, support experiments in open digital infrastructures and run projects that develop key parts of a future ‘Internet of Production’ – such as the ‘makerspaces’ in Africa.

Role & Responsibilities:

Supported by the CEO and the previous project manager (now full-time on a parallel project) and working with a small team of project staff, the Project Manager will:

• Manage the project, informed by the project design and existing workplans and budgets;
• Mobilise existing relationships with makerspaces in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa;
• Oversee makerspace’s bidding application processes for training and financial support;
• Manage donor processes including milestone reports and sharing deliverables;
• Assist with the appointment and management of freelance consultants and developers;
• Prepare for and attend key event in Cape Town in November 2024;
• Monitor and evaluate project progress, deliverables, outputs and impacts;
• Manage and chair monthly stakeholder meetings and regular donor meetings, all online;
• Complete and submit quarterly reporting, and oversee progress against the budget.

Person Specification:

• Excellent project management skills;
• Experience of donor reporting and relationship management;
• A qualification in project management is desirable but not required;
• Experience of working in non-profit organisations, with government funds or on international aid funding would be very helpful;

The successful candidate will track and analyse media coverage of MSF in the UK through daily monitoring and the production of a weekly newsletter and quarterly reports. They will also debrief members of staff returning from MSF’s medical projects, as well as pitching stories to news outlets. Role also involves some social media management and opportunities to contribute to MSF events, such as Scientific Day.

This role is an opportunity to gain exposure to media work and explore the day-to-day work of an international NGO and to understand how and why we communicate. There will be ample opportunity to learn more about MSF and you are encouraged to attend and contribute to weekly office meetings and operational updates.

About the role

As Senior Investigator you will be developing the high quality investigations that demonstrate the inequities in extracting strategy minerals, supporting compelling cases for shifts in power. Working with complex data, your investigative techniques, within a Sub-Saharan Africa context will lead to understanding the governance and just issues concerning critical minerals and energy transition.

About you

You will bring your networking skills to work with internal colleagues, sources and external partners to align the investigations with campaign goals and amplify the priorities of impacted communities.

Your journalistic investigation experience will be essential in both developing strategy based plans and delivering rigorous factual analysis and desk-based and field research.

The Discover DeCrypt Trustees wish to appoint a self-employed fundraising consultant to undertake fundraising to achieve at a minimum the matched funding target (circa £92k) for submission of The National Lottery Heritage Fund Round 2 bid for The Sanctuary Project in St Mary de Crypt Church, Gloucester. The work will need to be carried out between July 2024 and July 2025 with all matched funding pledged by that end date and any surplus funding contributing to unrestricted reserves.

Introduction Discover DeCrypt undertook a major Heritage Fund project between Jan 2018 and March 2022. This capital project saw the reimagining of the church and adjoining Tudor schoolroom buildings. The project saw the Victorian pews removed (and repurposed), a lift (sympathetic to the buildings) installed, new toilet facilities, new heating system, new fire and intruder system, new lighting scheme and a new kitchen. Underfloor heating was installed within the nave and a new floor laid. The schoolroom was made safe and usable as it had reached the point where it was unsafe for the public to access. There was new interpretation in both the church and schoolroom.

An important aspect of this project was community outreach as the buildings sit within the city centre and had lost much of the original congregation and community. After the initial capital phase, three years of operational support was designed to help embed the charity within the community through volunteer recruitment, workshops, activities, concerts, art exhibitions and theatre. The church has also grown over this period, with regular services, weddings, funerals, and christenings.

The Sanctuary Project is the next phase of the Discover DeCrypt Story. It will see the conservation and interpretation of important Mediaeval and Tudor Wall paintings, Mediaeval stonework, and Victorian stained-glass windows. As well as the conservation work, the Sanctuary area and the elements within it will be researched and interpreted for the visitors to understand and enjoy. A very important part of this project is community engagement and audience development including giving students and the wider public access to conservation and heritage skills.

This role is funded by The National Heritage Lottery Fund thanks to National Lottery players.

TLC: Talk Listen, Change are looking for a Children and Young People’s Rapid Response worker to deliver a crisis service for children and young people aged 5-18 living in the Wigan area who have been arrested following the use of harmful and physically violent behaviours towards their parents / carers. The service is trauma informed, supporting young people to change their behaviour through work with both them and their families. The service will provide a rapid response for young people at crisis point working intensively with individuals and families for a short period of time, and work closely with youth justice teams and other services in the area.

The role

As a Key Worker, you’ll be a game-changer in the lives of young individuals, shaping their future by identifying their struggles and initiating paths for improvement. You’ll collaborate with various agencies, becoming an essential bridge to the resources they require, and implement effective risk management procedures with the support of senior staff. You’ll also serve as a mentor, delivering a variety of program materials focused on prevention, early intervention, and behaviour modification in both one-on-one and group settings. Additionally, you’ll engage with the parents/carers of these young individuals, ensuring they are part of the solution, and make appropriate referrals for partners/ex-partners and children connected to them. An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a new Operations Manager / Deputy Chief Executive for Stepping Stones North Wales as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary.

Stepping Stones is a charity based in North Wales that offers free individual counselling, support, psychoeducational courses and resources as well as group work to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. We also support family members, carers and friends.

We are looking for a person who is passionate about the charity sector and who, working with our CEO and with a dynamic team of Trustees, can ensure we operate effectively and can support the delivery of our strategy. The successful candidate will be comfortable with looking at ways to strengthen our processes and systems, so we have even more impact.

Stepping Stones North Wales demonstrates respect for, and embraces the use of, the Welsh Language through all our activities and services. We recognise the need to be appropriately responsive to the linguistic needs of Welsh speakers and we are fully committed to meeting the requirements of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 (revised 2021). The ability to communicate effectively in both Welsh and English is desirable for this role although we will welcome applicants who demonstrate a commitment to learning Welsh (which we’ll fully support you in doing) and championing its use at every opportunity.

The position can either be full time (35 hours per week), with a salary of £38,296, or pro-rata 28 hours for the right candidate.

• Responsibility for working with the CEO to develop, implement and monitor the Strategic Plan, the yearly Business Plan and associated processes/documents (policies, guidance, risk register and budgets).
• Responsibility for working with the CEO to increase our outreach through strategic communications and through stakeholder mapping/engagement, including with elected officials across North Wales.
• Responsibility for maintaining good working relationships with commissioners and other funding bodies and for supporting the CEO and trustees in promoting Stepping Stones with current and potential future funders within the statutory third and corporate sectors.
• Responsibility for working closely with colleagues and trustees to network and to maintain an appropriate level of awareness of Stepping Stones’ activities amongst the caring professions, across the charitable sector and in communities across North Wales.
• Accountability for supporting the ongoing recruitment of, and line management of, a number of nominated operational staff within the charity.
• Responsibility for ensuring the financial probity of the charity. Working with the CEO and Finance & Business Support Manager.
• Responsibility for maintaining good working relationships with commissioners and other funding bodies and to promote Stepping Stones with current and potential future funders within the statutory, third and corporate sectors.
• Responsibility for ensuring that all appropriate training and processes are in place with regards to key government standards around Safeguarding, Health and Safety and GDPR in partnership with the Clinical Lead.
• Responsibility for working with the CEO, key staff and trustees to implement an improved and modernised service for our clients, partners and trustees through innovation.
• Responsibility for working with the CEO to draft the Annual Report, and all other statutory reports, adhering to strict deadlines.
• Responsibility for ensuring that the charity has an efficient secretarial/clerical service managed by the Office Support Team.
• Responsibility for drafting relevant communications for clients or dealing with queries or complaints along with the Clinical Lead as appropriate.
• Deputising for the CEO during periods of leave or as required/agreed with the CEO.

About you

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our friendly events team at the British Ecological Society (BES). You’ll need at least one year’s demonstrable experience in delivering high-profile mid-sized events and conferences. You will need a high-level of organisation and reliability as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office, and experience of using a CRM and a hybrid event platform. We need a clear and concise communicator who can build and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and diverse audiences.

You will assist the BES in the organisation and delivery of our events programme, including our flagship scientific conference, the BES Annual Meeting, which sees 1,200 ecologists gather from around the world and share the latest research.

About the role

Reporting to the Events Manager, the Events Officer will:

• In collaboration with the Events Manager, oversee the delivery of allocated parts of the Society’s Annual Meeting, Symposia, and other events.
• Use digital platforms to support event management and delegate experience -including the website, CRM system, conference abstract management system, Eventbrite, Canva, hybrid conference platforms, Excel, Microsoft Teams and Zoom
• Co-ordinate aspects of event planning including venue search, supplier liaison, catering and accommodation.
• Act as the main point of contact for exhibitors and sponsors, post-sales.
• Maintain and update the programme information on the hybrid event platform for the Annual Meeting.
• Ensure that any agreed branding from sponsors is delivered.
• Provide on-site support at events and go on site visits.
• Develop innovative and creative social media content and digital promotion for the Society’s events.
• Evaluate and monitor success of events portfolio, providing and implementing recommendations where appropriate.
• Evaluate and monitor EDI representation at BES events.

The postholder will take part in the design and delivery of the teaching components on the new psychodynamic psychotherapy training programme curriculum. You will join the existing team of course tutors, supervisors and experiential group leaders to grow and embed the psychodynamic training as part of the bpfs flagship qualifying training provision. The postholder will work with and be supported by a core teaching staff group. You will also work with and be supported by BPF colleagues, so that our trainees receive holistic pastoral care from their membership body.

The postholder will be required to undertake several tasks to support the programme including: i. design and shaping of a co-constructed curriculum; delivery of one module in each term (Terms 1, 2 and 3) related to psychoanalytic and Jungian theory; ii. delivery of one module in each term related to trainees’ clinical work; iii. the potential to facilitate an experiential group. This is flexible however and not confirmed at present; iv. support with marking and assessment of coursework; iii. support with student pastoral care.

The postholder will work from Mapesbury Road and will be given administrative support by the bpf. You will need to attend twice termly team meetings and annual meetings with supervisors and personal tutors. You will also have one supervision meeting each term with the Director of Psychodynamic Training.

This is a new post, will develop over time and can be arranged around clinical work.
