Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint a Facilities and Assets Manager.
The role is key to ensuring that our properties, equipment, and site-based assets are aligned to the highest standards of environmental, health and safety, fire and security standards and delivering against the Trust’s ambitious objectives.
You will safely steward the management of our growing facilities and assets, as well as being the initial point of contact for the Central Services department. You will play a key role in contributing to the supervision of our Nature Discovery Centres, offices and other premises, manage the complex array of assets situated on our 111 nature reserves including vehicle fleet, equipment etc and assist in ensuring that our health and safety management systems are being delivered and consistently improved.
You will need to have experience of facilities and assets management including the practical application of CDM regulations, emergency, health, safety and fire and security procedures. You will also need excellent IT sills, interpersonal and people skills, and experience of managing budgets, finances, projects and contracts/contractors.

You must have experience of account management in a commercial or charity setting coupled with a deep understanding of the corporate sector. An effective project manager, you will have a firm understanding of conservation and sustainability issues and trends too. Experience in a corporate or consultancy environment as well as being comfortable working with working with partner agencies would be an advantage.

Working closely with a committed and extensive team of volunteers and paid staff, and with the support of an established and engaged board of Trustees, you will be steering the work on our vision and leading the team to deliver it.
As the leader of a relatively small charity, you will be engaged with many operational aspects of the organisation.
Taking on the stewardship of the new plot of land will be one of the priorities in the first year.
You will be managing our annual income of around £200K, our part-time managers (admin; orchard planting, scrumping, courses and sites) plus a team of 25 workers and key volunteers engaged in ongoing roles.
Hours can be worked flexibly, though you will need to attend in-person meetings, events and site visits, including some weekends and evenings. We have a kitchen and barn at Stanmer Park, but not an office. All desk work and online meetings will need to be done remotely using your own equipment.
Key responsibilities:
· Figurehead and ambassador for the organisation. Willing to be available for interviews and talks.
· Decision maker. Brighton Permaculture Trust has always been a collaborative organisation. There will be times when quick or difficult decisions are needed.
· Setting budgets and monitoring finances. Draft budgets for our financial year July 2024 to June 2025 are in place.
· Writing/assisting with funding bids.
· Formal reporting to the Trustees quarterly, plus monthly opportunities to meet with the Trustees for support, collaboration and feedback.
· Leading monthly meetings with the operational managers. Operational managers cover each key area: Scrumped in Sussex, Community Orchards, Brighton Permaculture Trust Sites, Courses & Events and Admin/Compliance.
· One-to-one meetings with operational managers, key contractors and volunteers as required. These can be online or on-site.
· Supporting the wider team to agree on SMART targets for each project and deliver on our strategic goals.
· Attending Brighton Permaculture Trust Apple Days events (3 per year).
· Being the main point of contact for key relationships, including major donors, funders, partner organisations and Brighton & Hove City Council.
· Presenting our year’s achievements to the members at our AGM.
· Line management of 3-5 operational managers as these roles move to long-term contracts
· Representing the Trust at assorted, infrequent external meetings and events would be desirable and require some flexibility in days/times worked.

Who you are

Job Purpose
Your legacy will be a tangible impact on slowing down climate change, helping nature recover and creating social impact by leading on landowner and stakeholder engagement for the Lower Chew Landscape Recovery project that will see thousands of acres of local land managed in harmony with nature. You will join a fast-growing organisation that started in 2019 with four volunteers and has grown to a staff team of thirteen (which will double over 2024), over 1,000 volunteers and ownership of 170 acres (soon to be 600 acres) of land that will grow woodlands of over 160,000 trees.
The project
Landscape Recovery is one of Defra’s three environmental land management schemes. Avon Needs Trees has been awarded development phase funding for Landscape Recovery in the Lower Chew. This is a unique opportunity to help co-design nature’s recovery and social impact at a landscape scale. The project will engage existing landowners and managers across over 867 hectares of land in the Lower Chew, an area where good quality but fragmented woodland provides a basis for woodland connectivity and large-scale woodland creation, as part of a mosaic of grassland and woodland habitat. This locally-cherished landscape of rolling farmland on the edge of Bristol is the strategic setting for delivering local environmental and social priorities. Avon Needs Trees woodland projects include two Wiltshire Woodlands, the Great Avon Wood, Ed Woods, and the upcoming Lower Chew Forest.
Main responsibilities
● Join and help to lead our journey to discover the increased impact that private finance can bring to nature’s recovery
● Become our in-house expert on the local natural capital market and other forms of bringing private finance into nature’s recovery, including identifying and building relationships with potential future partners
● Being a strong advocate, internally and externally, for the landscape recovery project and the benefits it will deliver
● Leading on the delivery of the blended finance and business model for landscape recovery project, including:
○ Baselining agricultural finances
○ Finance model design, development and implementation
○ Landowner consultation on blended finance and business model

Senior Project Manager - Minsmere Mitigation

We are looking for an energetic, insightful and organised person to help us deliver a resilience project to mitigate the impacts of the Sizewell C development on the visitor experience at RSPB Minsmere.
What’s the role about?
This is a stimulating role which represents an important opportunity to make a significant and direct contribution to enhancing the visitor infrastructure at a flagship RSPB reserve and a key visitor destination on the Suffolk Coast. We’re looking for someone with an understanding of how to prioritise, plan and deliver visitor infrastructure projects.
We need someone who is highly organised and has a good attention to detail. This role requires a collaborative approach, which combines the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure, while working under your own initiative to achieve results to tight deadlines.
Minsmere is one of the most famous bird reserves in the UK and one of RSPB’s most popular reserves. The reserve borders the Sizewell Estate where SZC Co plans to build a new nuclear power station, Sizewell C. The RSPB led a campaign against the potential threats of the Sizewell C development called LoveMinsmere, bringing people together to demonstrate the value of and concern for the reserve and its wildlife.
In July 2022, the UK government approved the application to build Sizewell C, after a lengthy planning process and Examination. As part of the approval, a Resilience Fund was set up for mitigation of the impacts on visitors to RSPB Minsmere.
These impacts will begin as soon as works commence and last for the construction period (currently estimated to last 12 years). This project will enable RSPB Minsmere to maintain a great visitor experience despite these changes.
The Senior Project Manager will manage a series of infrastructure projects funded by the Resilience Fund. Initially, they will work with the Minsmere team to develop a costed programme of works with agreed priority projects. They’ll then manage consultants and contractors to deliver that plan on the ground.
About the project
Vision: RSPB Minsmere offers an exceptional visitor experience despite the Sizewell C construction works.
Objectives: By Feb 2027, RSPB Minsmere has improved infrastructure that enhances the visitor experience and mitigates the impacts of Sizewell C on the visitor experience.
Outcomes: Maintained quality of visitor experience, retaining the reserve’s income levels.
Outputs (To be kept under review as the project develops):
New visitor infrastructure, likely to include a redeveloped toilet block, car park improvements and play area among other items. Including all designs and consents.
Consolidation and improved interpretation of Leiston Abbey (first site) as outlined in the Deed of Obligation and improvements to physical access to the site.
Infrastructure enhanced to allow enhanced reserve events programme.

- Producing of a costed programme of works, supported by quotes and/or evidence from similar projects.
- Procuring and managing consultants and contractors to design and deliver the chosen projects.
- Ensuring that consents are in place for all works within the programme
- Working with colleagues to ensure the project programme is reviewed for other opportunities to seek potential funders – to maximise delivery.
- Working to the Resilience Fund budget, including expenditure reporting as required
- Ensuring that all financial records are kept to enable annual financial statements to be produced and to satisfy external audit requirements.

About the project
Access to Eden:breaking barriers, building bridges aims to break down the physical, social and cultural barriers that prevent people from accessing the natural heritage of Eden and build the bridges needed to give them the confidence to enjoy our blue and green spaces. We intend to remove barriers for Eden’s special wildlife, connect habitats and promote nature recovery.
With 13 organisations signed up as part of our partnership, together we will break barriers and build bridges for people AND nature in the Eden Valley, Cumbria.
The clue is in the title. It’s all about making Eden’s rivers and nature more accessible to those who experience the greatest barriers. From opening up doorstep green spaces, promoting walking, cycling, swimming, paddle sports, practical conservation, wildlife surveys, quiet enjoyment … and even virtual enjoyment of the river environment.
Our vision is to see a fully integrated set of accessible activities and conservation opportunities that work for everyone in Eden, Cumbria, contributing to improving the natural heritage along our rivers.

Improving access to river environments is a new area for Eden Rivers Trust, and part of our charity’s desire to be Rethinking rivers. For good. We believe in partnership, creativity and flexibility, and we are rooted in the Eden – working at ground level with local communities, land managers and businesses to conserve the rivers and improve water quality and management. We are changing conversations, finding ways to work smarter and inspiring and empowering others to do the best for our rivers.

Job Overview
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager. The role will embrace a wide remit to support colleagues across our Investment Management, Sales and Operations functions with day-to-day investment administration to enable smooth operation of the company and to enhance our customer service.
Roles & Responsibilities:
· Due Diligence: Conduct full operational due diligence on potential offers to be listed on the platform. This includes KYC, legal entity checks and offer document review.
· Offer management: efficiently and effectively managing the end-to-end process of creating, reviewing, tracking offers. This includes administration of post-close payments and investor updates. Serve as the central point of contact for enquiries from both the issuing clients as well as investors.
· Process improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and optimize offer lifecycle management processes through automation, standardization, and best practices.
· Standard Operating Procedures: Ensure that process notes are kept up-to-date with any changes or enhancements to offer management processes, and make them accessible to relevant team members for training purposes.

Key skills and experience:

This is an exciting new position for a highly motivated, organised, analytical and collaborative grants management professional with the experience and commitment to manage a portfolio of grants. The role will include ensuring that project leads have the tools, systems and processes in place to deliver against their grants, whilst adhering to organisational and donor-specific compliance standards.
The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) is a high-profile organisation and trade association leading the international clean energy transition as the world seeks to stay within 1.5c global warming target. Our mission is to ensure that wind power establishes itself as the answer to today’s energy challenges, providing substantial environmental and economic benefits.
Over the next two years, GWEC expects to rapidly scale up the number and size of the grants that we are managing globally. The post-holder will play a pivotal role in securing new grants, and building the capacity of the global staff team to effectively manage the grants once secured. The successful applicant is likely to be someone who enjoys problem solving, innovation and collaboration with multiple departments and individuals.
Headline overview of responsibilities:
- Grant identification and pipeline management: Conduct research to identify potential grant funding opportunities. Conduct research and analysis on the reporting and financial requirements of prospective donors. Maintain the funding pipeline/ grant management database
- Grant application oversight: Manage the end-to-end grant application process for new grants.
- Budget and financial management: Collaborate with the project and finance teams to develop project budgets. Monitor spending against grants in relation to activities delivered. Ensure Project Leads receive monthly spend updates. Ensure donor budgets are utilised as directed, financial reporting is on-track, and any alterations are communicated internally and externally. Support Project Leads to re-forecast budgets.
- Grant compliance: Ensure compliance with grant agreements, reporting requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Ensure that the project delivery team is inducted on contractual obligations, and provide support and advice regarding adherence to contracts throughout the grant period. Support on grant management documentation, including quality assuring processes. Support the project delivery teams in the preparation and submission of donor reports, through until grant close-out.
- Grant Performance Management: Ensure that all grant management tools are set up with each grant’s inception period. Coordinate quarterly grant oversight meetings, and hold project delivery teams to account for delivery of projects. Ensure GWEC fulfils its obligations to donors as per grant contracts. Support the finance team to liaise with auditors throughout audits.
- Knowledge sharing: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant funding and statutory funding. Share technical advice, grant specific guidance and project management best practices and tools. Contribute to GWECs grant-related systems, policies, processes, and guidelines.
- Strategy delivery: Support the Grants Director in the delivery of the fundraising strategy, including assuming responsibility for the delivery of identified tasks within the team’s annual work plan. Engage in regular monitoring of progress against the work plan.
