Job Description: Finance Director (Part Time)

Summary

NEF Summary:

At the National Energy Foundation, our team is forward thinking in its approach to home energy and uses its influence and projects to make meaningful change. Our primary focus is delivering projects aimed at alleviating fuel poverty and helping residents to feel warmer, healthier and more comfortable in their homes whilst also helping them cut the cost of their fuel bills. In the next five years, we will seek to help more than 170,000 households out of fuel poverty. Beyond this, we seek to encourage homeowners to make improvements to their homes to increase energy efficiency. To enable this, we deliver several projects aimed at encouraging retrofit of energy efficient heating systems into UK homes.

Job Role

The Finance Director will work with the CEO and the Finance team to collaboratively drive the development and delivery of the NEF’s strategic plans and budgets. The Finance Director will be a member of the NEF’s Senior Management Team (SMT) and will attend the quarterly Trustee Meetings.

Not only will the Finance Director take accountability for the day-to-day transaction processing, ably supported by an effective Finance Team of 3 people, they will take the lead on the budgeting, planning and analysis processes, developing a range of processes and reports to enable effective decision making.

The Finance Director will be the key contact for and work with the auditors, HMRC and other professional advisors and regulatory bodies to ensure that the organisation remains compliant and fulfils its legal responsibilities.

Management

o Manage the Finance function, providing leadership and support to the Finance Manager and their team of 2 analysts to ensure they are all able to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.

o Provide strategic financial guidance to ensure that the NEF meets all its objectives.

o Contribute to the company’s overall business objectives and guide on financial strategy.

o Act as support and “Critical Friend” to the CEO, deputising for them where required.

Audit, Accounting & Reporting

o Take accountability for the production of timely and accurate financial reports, meeting the deadlines set by the CEO and the Trustees.

o Take accountability for all transaction processing including payroll, invoicing customers, and supplier invoice payments.

o Continually develop the reporting output to ensure that it meets the ever-changing requirements of the NEF and its Trustees.

o Be accountable for all finance systems, making recommendations for their development and implementing changes as necessary.

o Maintain relationships with the auditors, the banks, and other professional bodies.

o Work with the CEO and Trustees to compile and submit the Statutory Accounts and associated documentation.

Budgeting Planning & Analysis

About the role

Reporting to the CFO, the Head of Finance is responsible for leading a team of 5 and overseeing the day-to-day financial management of the charity, supporting and developing its financial strategies. In collaboration with the Charity’s Executive Team, the role is responsible for safeguarding the short, medium and long-term financial health of the organisation. This includes all financial reporting requirements, treasury management (overseeing the organisation's cash and liquidity performance) and the management of the annual budget and financial planning processes. Financial Strategy and Policy

• Support the Charity’s Executive Team with ensuring the short, medium and long term financial health of the organisation

Reporting

Placement Manager 

£35k p.a. FTE part-time 

Part-time 15 – 20 hours per week Location: initially remote working but to be hybrid based in W/NW/SW London.)

We are looking for a Placement Manager to join our enthusiastic and friendly team. Help Counselling Centre is a small Mental Health charity providing one-to-one counselling, both in person and online.  We are also a well-established training placement provider for trainee counsellors and psychotherapists studying with prestigious training providers in London.

About Help

Help Counselling is well-established Mental Health Charity with a heritage of over 50 years. We provide training placements for clinical supervisors, counsellors and psychotherapists who need to gain clinical experience to qualify (or further qualify) and be registered with one of the industry professional bodies such as, BACP or UKCP. For ethical reasons, the work trainee counsellors / psychotherapists do is unpaid, i.e., they must volunteer their time.

This volunteer model enables Help to fulfil its charitable aim of providing low-cost counselling services. It can take between 3-5 years to qualify, and our training placements are for minimum of 12 months meaning we can also provide clients with long-term help. The blend of low-cost and long-term talking therapy is much needed in a time of increasing demand for mental health support and increasing complexity of presenting issues.

About the job

Reporting to the Help Director, the job is to ensure the smooth and effective running of the training placement process in line with BACP requirements.

This will include providing clinical support and expertise to the Help Director; managing and assuring the quality of the counsellor recruitment process; handling counsellor issues; overseeing weekly client allocations and reallocations; handling queries and managing relationships with clients, counsellors and supervisors; reviewing and enhancing clinical policies.

Currently our client volumes are between 250-350, we have approximately 90 counsellors and clinical team of approximately 20. 

We operate a number of cloud-based IT systems and have outsourced HR and Finance functions.

 Key responsibilities

· Provide clinical support and expertise to the Help Director as required.

· Manage and oversee process of new counsellor recruitment, ensuring all new counsellors are interviewed and vetted against a suitable set of standards and controls. 

· Manage paperwork required by Training Organisations in relation to Trainee Counsellors at the beginning and during their placement. 

· Being available to support Trainee Counsellors on clinical placement with Help.

· Manage the Cause for Concern’ procedure with Trainee Counsellors and Supervisors as and when they arise. This will include ensuring appropriate record-keeping and taking appropriate action to ensure counsellors are working safely and within the BACP ethical framework. 

· Provide a point of escalation for client, counsellor or supervision queries. 

· Manage and oversee weekly client allocations and reallocations. 

· Manage any queries raised from Assessments and manage any declined clients 

· Assist in the periodic review and creation of appropriate clinical policies and procedures. Provide input into policies and procedures based on changes to best practice guidelines issued by professional bodies. 

The Candidate

Education & experience: Counselling or Psychotherapy Qualification, BACP or UKCP professional membership, 3-5 years' post-qualification experience. Experience of working within a training environment within the same industry highly desirable.

The role will be based in our Resources, Systems and Culture Team and will take charge of the day-to-day financial activities for the UK as well as administrative support to other members of this global team.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the South East River's Trust's Finance and Operation's Team.  The team supports the organisation with a broad range of financial and administrative tasks, to ensure its smoothed running, development and growth.  The role would suit an individual with a financial background, who is approachable and organised, with excellent attention to detail, able to work on their own or as part of a team.

The role will report directly to the Finance Manager and will provide support in administering all financial controls and processing for the organisation.  The successful applicant will come from a financial background and have a strong understanding of financial principles with an accounting qualification.  They will have experience in bookkeeping, reconciling accounts as well as dealing with banking, grant applications and expenses.  Whilst this role focuses on the financial aspects of SERT, it will also play a key part in supporting with the set up of IT equipment, new financial systems and general IT queries, with help from our external IT supplier.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a small dynamic team, sitting at the heart of the organisation, making a real difference for the environment and the rivers in the south east of England.  This is a full time position, however part time working of 4 days per week (0.8FTE) would be considered.

We are working with One Small Thing, who are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join their busy, collaborative team. Initially part time this role could grow to full time as the organisation expands.

One Small Thing has a commitment to systemic change for women and their children in the justice system, which has inspired them to build Hope Street, a brand-new, purpose-built residential community-based service, designed in collaboration with women, for justice-involved women and their children in Hampshire, and offering them access to education, practical and therapeutic support in safe, respectful trusting environment.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a brand-new team working closely to bring this new and exciting provision to life, and a vital role providing essential administrative support to the finance team, the facilities team as well as office management support across the wider team.

With previous experience in a busy office environment, your experience will include:

· Purchase requisition, purchase orders and invoicing, reconciliation of supplier statements, bank reconciliation and preparing journals, payroll support expenses and preferred supplier account set up.

· Rent management including documenting resident moves and posting receipts paid by local authorities.

· Managing office supplies, and provision of facilities support in line with relevant Health & safety standards.

· Excellent communication skills and an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, you will be able to manage a varied workload and prioritise activities and responses in order of importance.

· A knowledge and understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR Regulations 2018 to ensure the appropriate management of personal and sensitive personal data.

· An understanding of trauma and its long-term effects on a person’s behaviours, self-esteem, confidence, and ability to trust others, plus knowledge and understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

This is an exciting opportunity for an organised Finance Assistant who has exceptional IT skills including databases, excellent Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience and ideally with case management systems for data and outcome recording, you will have outstanding attention to detail and accurate record keeping.

The Senior Finance Officer will sit at the heart of our Operations Team, reporting to the Head of Operations and the Co-CEOs and playing a crucial function in ensuring the efficient day-to-day management of the organisation’s financial functions.

This will include all day-to-day management of our financial systems and banking, including our accountancy software (Quickbooks) and our internal financial spreadsheets. This involves recording and tracking the income expected from funders, processing invoices and payments, preparing payroll and producing monthly reconciliations and termly budgets. You will also work with our teams to ensure compliance with our financial policies, process expenses and work with our external accountants each year to provide the information needed for our accounts.

You will also research, advise and steer on both necessary changes to our processes, policies and procedures and standalone project work which may involve tasks such as reviewing our pensions processes or any savings and investments. You will understand and enjoy the challenge that working at a charity with multiple complex funding streams brings.

You will have experience of similar work, ideally in the charity sector and will be familiar with the use of both accountancy software and managing cashflows and budgets using Excel. You will have excellent communication and people skills as well as a proactive approach to problem solving and be methodical with a very keen attention to detail.

Head of Finance and People - 3 days a week role - National

Are you a talented experienced Head of Finance and People keen to join a growing organisation that makes a big impact on the lives of people in need of advice.  Charity People is delighted to be partnering with AdviceUK at a time of investment in their team, and is recruiting for a Head of Finance and People. 

This is a newly created role, fully remote where you are required to come to London four time a year. Working very closely with a forward-thinking CEO and being part of a newly established Senior Leadership Team (SLT), as the Head of Finance and People, you will be leading a team of Finance and HR professionals to ensure Advice UK's business plan and strategic priorities are achieved.

Salary: £64,000 - £68,000 per annum pro ratad to three days a week plus Regional Weighting (upto £4,454 in London)

Contract: Part time - 21 hours per week (0.6 FT), Permanent

Location: Remote home based role with a small amount of travel, we encourage applicants from across the UK

• Be accountable for AdviceUK's finance, HR and compliance work, making key decisions that impact their direction and performance. Wherever possible, use data and evidence to inform your decision-making

• Oversee the preparation, analysis and distribution of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with UK accounting standards, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and financial forecasts
• Support SLT to contribute to the development of AdviceUK's financial planning, supporting them to take an organisation-wide view on where best to invest to support the achievement of strategic objectives

• Lead AdviceUK's compliance management, by working with staff leading specific compliance areas to ensure the charity meets all UK legal and regulatory requirement and undertakes all required, filing and reporting. As part of this work closely with the Data Protection Officer to ensure data protection and cyber security requirements are met and with the HR function to ensure health and safety requirements are met.
• Lead the SLT and key suppliers in developing a business continuity plan that ensures AdviceUK can continue to deliver its strategic objectives and support its members in times of business interruption. Once established ensure it is regularly reviewed and tested.

• Ensure the development and implementation of financial and people management policies and processes that support AdviceUK's work and culture
