Support Dogs trains and provides specialist assistance dog to give 100% reliable advance warning of epileptic seizures; to help children with autism to stay safe and better engage with the world around them. Our disability assistance dogs bring independence and a better quality of life for those with physical disabilities including MS, Cerebral Palsy and Fibromyalgia.

Founded and entirely based in Sheffield our charity operates across the UK, growing significantly over recent years. The demand for our work is overwhelming, with requests for support increasing ten-fold over the past few years. Support Dogs provides all of its services free of charge and relies entirely on voluntary donations for funding.

Funding from trusts and charitable foundations is vital to our charities ability to provide its vital, life saving work. Support Dogs is going through a period of growth and is looking for an experienced fundraiser to provide support to help us to reach further and maximise opportunities as our existing post holder takes maternity leave.

Job Title: Alumni and fundraising development officer

Location: Queen Mary's Grammar School, Walsall

Hours: 37 hours per week, Term Time

Purpose of Job:

The postholder plays a key role in managing the alumni network, with a specific emphasis on events and volunteer management, to actively engage alumni and stakeholders with Queen Mary’s Grammar School. The goal is to continuously enhance the value and contributions from stakeholders in alignment with Queen Mary’s Grammar School’s strategic priorities.

Ultimately, this role is designed to support the school’s strategic plan by delivering philanthropic income and other forms of financial and non-financial support from alumni and other stakeholders. This is achieved by developing and strengthening relationships with important constituents and identifying shared areas of interest and activities to enable lifelong relationships to form.

Main responsibilities:

1. To work with the Headmaster in developing links with the alumni network through the Queen Mary’s Club (QMC) for the purpose of school promotion, school career programme development and fundraising.

2. To assist with other whole school fundraising projects

3. To oversee the financial and administrative function of school donations and the Queen Mary’s Association (QMA) as a parental fundraising body within the school.

It is expected that the role will be self-funding, as a result of the income brought into the school. This may include funds raised through alumni, grant applications and bequests from former pupils, as well as a contribution towards other fundraising projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION The duties include:

• Actively enhance engagement opportunities with former students and other stakeholders. Contribute to development of methods of engaging with alumni and strengthening their relationship with Queen Mary’s Grammar School and each other;

• Maintenance and continuity of QMC database using Raiser’s Edge; leading initiatives to grow and populate the database.

• Management of the website, including creating new content;

• Use a range of social media channels to engage alumni and other relevant stakeholders, such as Linked-in and Mail Chimp.

• Recruitment of upper sixth students to the QMC; Actively contribute to engagement with current students to raise the profile of the QMC and the opportunities afforded by Queen Mary’s alumni network.

• Assistance with fundraising for specific projects; putting in bids for funds and making Gift Aid claims where appropriate; creating new initiatives for fund raising and bequests.

• Stewardship, retention and recognition of volunteers and donors, ensuring they have a rewarding and impactful experience.

• Liaison with Old Marians, including a quarterly digital ‘From All Quarters’ update newsletter, creation of regular email campaigns, preparation of the annual Chairman’s letter and other social media/website updates;

• Researching the School’s Archives for materials to assist in fundraising, events and content creation;

• Management of QMC merchandise, including sales and stock replenishment

• Organisation and set up of the Old Marians’ dinner in September of each year (including liaison with the guest speaker, caterers and QMA bar committee);

• Organisation of the annual July Wreath Laying ceremony in London and surrounding activities.

• Organisation of alumni gatherings in Walsall, Birmingham, London and any ad-hoc events as required.

• Liaison with the School’s CEIAG co-ordinator to organise alumni careers events and procure former students for the programme. Guiding and supporting volunteers during the careers week.

• Be mindful of the diversity of alumni and stakeholders – promote equality and inclusivity in all activities and processes.

• Planning, promotion, co-ordination and impact evaluation of all events.

• Attending of all QMC committee meetings and preparation of papers for Dinner sub-committee;

• Liaison with the Old Boys’ Scholarship Fund (OBSF) arm of the QMC with reference to fundraising and the support of projects;

• Support the Headmaster in shaping and delivering campaigns, supporting key priorities, and monitoring targets. Use stakeholder research and data analysis to make suggestions, monitor performance, and drive future plans and activity.

• Receive, record and reconcile termly donations for the School donations fund; liaison with the Mercian Trust over the transfer and use of such donations;

• Submitting Gift Aid claims to HMRC;

• Treasurer for the QMA, including production of simple accounts and financial records

• Assist with recruitment of QMA volunteers and allocation to committees;

• Oversight of the Charity Commission status of the QMA and management of the bank account;

• Attend QMA management committee and trustee meetings;

• Provision of information for the QMA trustees;

• Being aware of, and complying with, policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and data protection (GDPR), reporting all concerns to an appropriate person;

• Attending and participating in other meetings, as required;

• Co-ordination of activities, when required, across the Mercian Multi Academy Trust;

• Contributing to the overall ethos of the School;

The Role

In this new role as a Development Surveyor at the Trust, you'll play an important part in advancing our Property Strategy, taking forward capital projects, in support of extending our charitable impact and growing our income to do so. Working closely with the Property Director, you'll lead multiple capital projects of differing scales and varying timelines, focusing on the redevelopment of rural assets, brownfield sites, and new developments focused on rural land and property.

Your expertise will be instrumental in managing relationships with partners, planning authorities, consultants and influential stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. You'll be part of the Head Office-based Property team, with occasional travel to our rural landholdings across England.

Duties Include:

Fundraising and project development:

· Lead the implementation of Bexley Mencap’s Fundraising Strategy; reviewing existing fundraising strategies, identifying opportunities for development and introducing innovative strategies to achieve fundraising goals. 

· Research and pursue new funding opportunities; including grants, legacies and social enterprise/earned income opportunities.

ARMA (UK) is the professional association for research management in the UK. We currently have around 3,5000 individual members from 250 organisations, ranging from universities and research institutes to research funders and the National Health Service.

• As directed, manage relationships with funders, ensuring timely reporting that meets their needs. This will include drafting the funder newsletter (bi-monthly) and providing new materials, such as reports, films, audits, etc.

• Draft funding proposals and monitor all deadlines for reporting, planning for the timebound and efficient delivery, and working with team members to ensure the highest quality reports are drafted in good time.

• Organise a monthly meeting with the directors and COO to present opportunities and actions and agree on priorities and approaches to donors.

• Take the lead in preparing government grant applications, liaising with colleagues for information and finessing draft texts.

• Maintain the grant database and ensure it is regularly checked and updated and that leads are followed up.

• Maintain the grants calendar, ensuring you are aware of reporting deadlines and other priority needs well in advance and ensuring no deadlines are missed. The role will take a proactive lead and coordinate as required.

• Assist in delivering events to update existing and attract new funders and ensure appropriate follow-up.

• Assist in crafting presentations to funders and, as required, work with the comms team to develop films or other materials.

You will bring the professional expertise, credibility and personal qualities necessary to provide exceptional leadership for the Development and Alumni Relations team, and collaborate with academic and professional services colleagues, alumni, donors and key stakeholders to make our strategic intent a reality.  Your philanthropy experience, including designing successful cultivation and engagement strategies, and a significant track record of securing gifts, will help you to swiftly establish credibility across the University.  There is scope to review and adapt our current operations and programme of activity, and we are looking for someone excited by the opportunity to innovate and develop a fresh approach.  To succeed in this role, you will be an inspirational, inclusive, and collaborative leader with experience of leading and motivating teams, with a can-do attitude and flexible approach to achieving outstanding results.

BRAC UK is offering a 3 month paid internship this summer in memory of our colleague Helen Turner. This internship will invite the successful candidate into the exciting and fast-paced world of fundraising for a major global NGO, BRAC.

BRAC is a southern-led international development charity with the vision for a world free from all forms of exploitation and discrimination. By partnering with over 100 million people and working across 17 countries BRAC aims to empower people and communities in situations of poverty, illiteracy, disease, social and climate injustice. The interventions aim to achieve large scale transformative change through economic and social programmes enabling people to realise their full potential.

Working mainly alongside the partnerships team, the international development intern will learn about the entire fundraising cycle, from prospecting donors to contracts being signed. We have a new strategy; a new structure and we’re now looking for new people to join our growing fundraising team. With your ambitious colleagues in Fundraising Planning, you’ll support the directorate to evolve and optimise our existing programme, drive efficiencies in the way we work and champion an audience-led approach that ensures strong relationships today and provide longer term opportunities to help fund our much-needed services in the years ahead.

Elders Voice is a local charity serving older people in Brent. We are recruiting a CEO to lead our talented and experienced staff team through a period of change to ensure our financial security.

Elders Voice is an established and trusted charity in the heart of Kensal Green. We believe ageing should be a wonderful and worthwhile journey, but for that to happen older people need to feel safe and happy in their homes and have access to affordable activities in an environment that embraces their differences. 

The pillars of our work are a well-respected handyperson service and a day centre offering a range of activities focusing on health and well-being, socialising, art, gardening and intergenerational work with and for older people.

The CEO will need to embrace our aims and lead the EV team to provide services based on holistic, long-term, high-quality relationships and to ensure that older people shape development of our services. In this difficult economic environment, we need to explore new funding opportunities and transition away from a reliance on local authority funding.

You will report directly to the Chair of the Board of Trustees and be supported by the board and a small, dedicated staff team.

Your role:

• To lead the staff team to deliver excellent services for older people in Brent.
• To ensure the financial stability of Elders Voice.
• To work with the board of trustees to develop and deliver the strategic plan.
• To act as an ambassador for Elders Voice and the older people we represent.
