Who are we looking for?

Ideal candidates will have solid experience of securing 5 and 6 figure gifts from philanthropists and/or family foundations. You will have good experience of high-level relationship management and support which enables senior stakeholder to grow income and networks. Exceptional communication, networking, influencing, negotiating and persuading skills are also essential for this role. Strong sector knowledge and a familiarity with the charitable/funding sector would be a bonus, however it is not essential for the role.

About you and the role
The purpose of this role is to head up development of key partnerships and income streams that will ensure the charity remains financially sustainable and able to deliver our impact at scale. You will be responsible for the assessment of, and managing relationships with, all major new partners. You will be accountable for delivering on an ambitious income generation strategy, and for monitoring and effectively reporting our impact. You will ensure that our impact and the importance of our work is effectively communicated to potential new partners, working closely with the Head of Communications and supported by the Marketing Manager. You will work alongside the Chief Executive and the Head of Finance to develop annual plans and budgets and work closely with the Director of Transformation and School Engagement Manager to ensure projects are secured, fully funded and financially sustainable.
We’re looking for an experienced senior leader, with excellent communication skills, who has been involved in high-value fundraising. We’re looking for someone with genuine passion for our mission, who has the confidence to hit the ground running and articulate why what we’re doing is so important. You need to enjoy working collaboratively, we’re a team that works closely together and the success of this role will come from working very closely with your fellow Directors and the wider team.

Key responsibilities:
● Developing a comprehensive income generation and marketing strategy that supports the delivery of the charity’s objectives and activities
● Manage and maintain existing significant partnerships with key funders (trusts, corporates and major donors), identifying new opportunities to deepen and extend relationships where desirable
● Manage, support and mentor the Development team, leading on strategy and planning for the department to ensure that income generation targets for fundraising are achieved
● Working alongside the Chief Executive and Directors, identify new income opportunities from corporate partnerships and support development of commercial opportunities
● Lead on the development of our impact measurement strategy, strengthening our monitoring, evaluation and impact systems to ensure that we are effectively collecting data that demonstrates our impact
● Responsible for delivering internal and external reporting (including the annual report) that articulates our impact clearly and definitively
● Develop an effective marketing strategy to articulate our impact and the benefits of our programmes to potential new partners
● Working with the Director of Transformations to maintain a healthy sales pipeline of new school/ MAT partners, helping to identify and develop relationships

● Manage, motivate and develop your team, setting goals and evaluating performance, coaching and motivating staff and supporting professional development and staff wellbeing
● Play a key role in preparing for and ensuring the smooth and effective running of the Strategy & Impact trustee sub-committee

Skills & experience:
● You have genuine passion for our mission, to improve kids’ health through transforming food and food education in schools
● Significant experience in a senior fundraising role (Head of / Director) with a strong track record of achievement
● Demonstrable ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
● Understanding of effective impact measurement and communication
● Experience writing reports / presentations / successful grant proposals
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Understanding of charity finance and ability to develop project budgets for funders
● Experience of line management and development of teams
● You enjoy a mix of leadership and strategy, with a positive attitude to rolling up sleeves to get hands-on when the need arises

Director of Income Generation

An opportunity has arisen to join Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice as our new Director of Income Generation. Reporting to the Chief Executive you will lead a dynamic and committed team to achieve ambitious income generation targets. You will sustain and further develop a balanced, and diverse income generation portfolio, focusing on maximising income and growing enduring relationships with supporters and customers across our region.
This is an exciting time to join Phyllis Tuckwell with the successful candidate having the opportunity to plan and implement the final stage of our £6 million appeal to build a new hospice.
The successful candidate will:
- Be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives to generate income and raise awareness of the Hospice mission and services.
- Provide direction, expertise, guidance, vision and leadership to all teams on income generation activities in a way that enables the teams to own the delivery of the IG strategy and plans.

The role.
This is an exciting role that sits on the senior leadership team with a significant amount of autonomy for an outstanding fundraiser and leader who is interested in further developing a fundraising function to eventually deliver c.£1.8m fundraising income per annum.
They are at a crucial stage in the evolution of their fundraising. Opened in 2019, our Youth Zone is founded on the OnSide funding model whereby the first four years of revenue is made possible primarily by major donors – Founder Patrons – who each committed a minimum of £25k pa for four years.
Now as they enter year five, they seek the continuation of this support and are in the initial stages of diversifying their income sources. They have also secured significant ringfenced funding to expand the fundraising team, and the incoming Director of Fundraising will have significant scope to shape the team around their vision and strategy. Successful achievement of goals and a sound strategy will allow for further growth in future years in order to sustain, diversify and enhance income.

About you
You will be a confident leader with strategic and critical thinking skills, and be the institutional champion of legacy giving at UCL. You will ideally bring experience from the charity or higher education sector, of delivering innovative and effective campaigns, and both income and expenditure budget management. We are looking for someone who has proven that they can design and launch this type of programme, in collaboration with the leaders of other fundraising income streams, and who has a deep understanding of best practice in this arena. Over the last 10 years the ICAS Foundation has awarded over £2m in funding to support university students studying accountancy and finance. Each year we help around 100 students studying at universities across Scotland and England. The Head of Income and Engagement will work as part of a small team being the sole fundraiser for the ICAS Foundation alongside the current Foundation Director who has delivered key acquisitions in the last 12 months.
The key focus of the role will be to deliver income targets to meet the business plan and strategy 2030, including creating the fundraising strategy required to fulfil our growth aims. The role will manage a newly appointed Marketing and Communications Manager and have access to the Foundation Administrator. The role will promote our work in improving social mobility by awarding bursaries and grants to young people who would benefit the most from the additional support ICAS Foundation can offer. About the role:
HALO is seeking a dynamic and solution-oriented Country Head to lead the strategic direction of the programme in accordance with HALO’s organisational mission and goals. The Country Head will lead a senior leadership team of six mid-level managers who work across mine action operational delivery, environmental project delivery, human resources, finance, strategy, support services and a Chief of Staff. They will work in partnership with the Regional Director, Deputy Regional Director, and other HQ functional leads. The Country Head will serve as the legal and primary HALO representative in Angola and be accountable for the programme’s staff and assets, the execution of donor projects and relations with local authorities and partners.
The Country Director is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the programme, including the design, review, and implementation of the programme’s strategy in accordance with HALO’s organisational objectives and charitable purpose. This includes establishing long-term strategic goals for the programme and developing the capacity and strength of the existing team. The Angola programme has projects spanning across two of HALO’s three strategic goals and is especially focused on the expansion of activities surrounding women’s empowerment and inclusivity, and the linkages between conflict, conservation and mine action. The successful candidate to this role will be a strategic thinker, who can demonstrate previous experience successfully building capacity to achieve strategic objectives.
The Angola programme currently has twenty ongoing contracts from a variety of governmental, private, and commercial donors with an annual turnover of circa $16 million. The Country Head will oversee and lead the two programmatic Heads responsible for execution and delivery donor projects: Head of Mine Action, and Head of Environment. The Country Head will ensure that the other senior managers provide the necessary support to the programmatic Heads to ensure they have the resources, capacity and support required to operate in an effective and compliant manner. The successful candidate will need to have exceptional liaison skills as they work closely with the Head of Strategy to maintain and foster critical stakeholder relationships in Angola, specifically with the Government of Angola as the programmes’ largest donor. The Country Head will also need exceptional organisational and financial acumen as they are accountable for the programme’s financial and legal compliance with internal and national policies and legislation.
The successful candidate will need to be an inspiring leader, capable of managing the large and diverse workforce with a focus on empowerment, communication, and professional development. Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
- Work effectively with others to develop funding proposals for CSE projects.
- Lead the response to competitive Invitations to Tender, which require a specific and timely response to a client’s brief and the ability to highlight and sell relevant CSE strengths and expertise.
