Events Officer Jobs in Flexible Location
Purpose of the Post/Responsibilities
This is a full-time position reporting directly into the CEO/CFO with an expectation of being on site in the award-winning Caudwell International Children’s Centre in Staffordshire a minimum of 3 days a week, depending on meetings and events. We are seeking an inspirational leader with the ability to identify opportunities and grow diverse income lines to support the Charity’s expanding service delivery.
Responsible for the strategic management and development of the Charity’s income generation, this role will play a pivotal part in taking the Charity to the next level and helping to change the lives of disabled children across the UK and beyond.
The successful candidate will oversee the main public-facing fundraising activity for the Charity, providing strategic leadership and tactical supervision to a growing team of Fundraisers.
You will be expected to develop a robust and diverse fundraising portfolio across several designated income strands to generate increasing levels of fundraising income year-on-year.
It has been recognised that the Charity currently has minimal market share in most standard charity income lines and this role will be fundamental in developing the required infrastructure, resource and ‘products’ to begin growing market share over the medium to long term.
A primary responsibility of the role will be to assess, develop and implement a new donor management system; ensuring new and existing supporters have a clear communication and cultivation journey with assigned fundraisers adopting relationship responsibilities throughout.
The required standard levels of customer service and donor management for all supporter relations across the Charity will be established and promoted to ensure the required levels of consistency.
This growth will occur while maintaining and strengthening the established income lines which already exist, such as Events and Challenges.
Events are a part of Caudwell Children’s DNA and the single largest income generator in the Charity’s Fundraising Department, therefore there will be a specific focus on maintaining and developing this important department.
The role will initially be responsible for developing two designated teams of fundraising colleagues:
- Individual Giving (Team size: 3)
- (Wills & Legacy, Regular Gifts/Direct Debit, Major Gifts, Raffle/Lottery, Payroll Giving).
- Community Fundraising (Team size: 6)
- (Events, Challenges, Mass Participation, Street Collections).
Remaining income streams (Trusts & Foundations, Public Sector Funding, Earned Income and Trading Income) will be managed by the Director of Corporate Fundraising.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team the successful candidate will be responsible for reporting to the CEO/CFO and fellow Directors regularly on strategy and performance.
Monthly reporting to the Trustee Board and regular ad-hoc correspondence with Trustees will also be required.
Success will be monitored annually by the Trustee Board against KPI’s including income growth, ROI and market share.
Person Specification
- Significant experience in fundraising/sales/business development management.
- Demonstrable understanding of the charity sector and professional fundraising.
- Enthusiastic advocate of business planning and sales management.
- Considerable experience and competence in planning, developing and managing the operations of a successful Sales/Fundraising Team.
- Experience and skill in new business development.
- Willingness and ability to undertake basic administrative activities (not expecting of others what you would not do yourself).
- Highly computer literate with strong competence in using mainstream computing packages and products.
- Driven, proactive and productive self-starter – able to work efficiently and achieve a lot under their own steam but not afraid to ask questions when needed and manage up.
- An enthusiastic, driven and sensitive leader – able to inspire and encourage others to give their best.
- Well organised with the ability to prioritise and manage own (and other people's) workload.
- Confident, professional and friendly communicator with a hands on approach.
- Confident to ensure all work complies with Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Data Protection and other policies of Caudwell Children.
This Job Description is not exhaustive. It outlines the general ways in which it is expected you will meet the overall requirements of this post.
Salary for this role is £70k to £80k depending on experience plus bonus and car allowance.

Cancer52
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
£65,000 - £70,000
Permanent, full-time
Remote with the ability to convene meetings and events in London and elsewhere
Cancer52 is a national organisation, created in 2007 by Professor Sir Mike Richards, CBE, then National Clinical Director for Cancer, and registered as a charity in England and Wales in September 2017.
We are an exceptional organisation, providing one voice for all those affected by rare and less common cancers. Historically, these cancers have been underrepresented and under-funded. Today, they represent 47% of people diagnosed with cancer, but 55% of all cancer deaths – a hidden majority. Cancer52’s aim is to change this by taking the collective voice of our members to those who influence cancer policy, research, services and treatment.
Cancer52 is recognised for its strong convening role, bringing together our 115 member charities with organisations in industry, government, the NHS and other stakeholders to address the inequalities faced by patients with rare and less common cancers. Our reputation is strong and we are in a unique position to provide a common voice for these underrepresented cancers. The figures for people with these cancers are challenging and there is much work to do.
After a hugely successful tenure during which Cancer52’s size and influence has grown dramatically, our current CEO is retiring from full time work in July. The Board of Trustees is now seeking to appoint a successor to build on the successes and achievements of recent years.
To be our next Chief Executive, you will be a talented leader, able to motivate and empower others and develop strong internal and external stakeholder relationships. You will also be an inspiring and authentic individual who is passionate, confident and engaging as the key spokesperson of the organisation and a representative of the diverse Cancer52 membership.
You will be capable of influencing decisions at senior levels of government, in the NHS and in partner organisations operating in the fields of cancer research, prevention, diagnosis and treatment. As our Chief Executive, your role is to be a key proponent of the campaigning and influencing drive of the charity, setting the overall strategy and vision for the organisation.
In addition to the core management competencies required, the role requires demonstrable leadership which will inspire others, along with a comprehensive understanding of Cancer52’s purpose and the problems faced by those charities and organisations representing the rare and less common cancer communities.
Effective networking will be a key skill set, and will enable you to actively seek out, engage and establish productive relationships with political decision makers, NHS leadership and charity CEOs to further our goals. Your approach will be collaborative, motivating stakeholders to engage with our work.
Success will be achieved through collective effort, but what will also be fundamental to the achievement of our ambitions will be funding. Going forward, and alongside our influencing work, you will be seeking out the funding opportunities that deliver a sustainable financial future and enable us to increase our impact.
Cancer52 is committed to creating an inclusive environment, promoting equality, valuing diversity, and combating unfair treatment in recruitment. We want to make sure that we always recruit the best person for the job in a way that is fair and equitable and demonstrates our commitment to valuing diversity at all stages of the recruitment process.

Why work for Results?
Like you, we're passionate about ending poverty. We’re a small, collaborative organisation that has a big impact. We just do advocacy - we don’t run programmes. The experience you gain with us sets you up for a career in international development. Here are a few of the benefits of joining us, in addition to the salary, pension and annual leave outlines at the top of this document.
Work-life balance
- We offer flexible working so you can manage work around your own needs.
- Hybrid working means you don’t have to be trapped in a long commute every day and don’t have to be London based.
- Staff members have their birthdays off as a bonus day of leave and we close the office between Christmas and new year so you don’t need to take leave.
- We subscribe to the Bupa employee advice line – free confidential access to financial and legal advisors as well as telephone and online counselling sessions.
- In addition we run training on mental health at work and have named mental health first aiders who can be contacted in confidence if you would like help finding support.
- All staff have the opportunity to join working groups outside of their work areas according to their interests. Our staff wellbeing team explores how we can improve our staff wellbeing - most recently publishing a comprehensive guide - and reviews what we have done to date.
Anti-oppression
- We offer half a day’s anti-oppression learning leave each year
- As well as making reasonable adjustments, we support our staff in making applications to the Access to Work scheme to get additional equipment where needed.
- We offer disability leave for disabled colleagues to manage specific needs they may have without having to give up their holidays.
- We have a staff working group on anti-oppression which helps to develop our work on anti-oppression and identify gaps in our current work.
Partnerships
- Results UK hosts three other organisations working on specific aspects of global health and education, so you benefit from other perspectives and get an in-depth understanding of other work going on in the sector.
- We are part of the ACTION global health partnership which brings together CSOs from around the world to share learning and coordinate advocacy.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
At Results UK, we believe in equality, diversity and inclusion, and that it should be the norm. As well as this being an issue of equality and fairness, we recognise that diverse and inclusive organisations are some of the most productive and impactful.
As an organisation, we are aware of the underrepresentation of certain groups and communities in our sector. These include - but are certainly not limited to - people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities, refugees, people with disabilities and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
We want to change this and are committed to playing our part as an organisation.
