Frieda Scott Trust - Trust Manager

Based on Stricklandgate, Kendal LA9 4PU

22 - 28 hours per week

£34,000-38,000 pro rata, and excellent benefits including 28 days holiday per annum pro rata, 10% Employer Pension contribution

If you’ve always wanted to play a key, influential role in supporting the equitable provision of charitable services in our local community, then this could give you all the challenge and reward you’re looking for.

We’re the Frieda Scott Charitable Trust, set up 50 years ago and based in Kendal. From here we provide charitable funds and support to organisations across Westmorland, liaising with volunteer, community and other charitable groups.

This role ensures the efficient and effective running of our grant-making decisions and activity, working closely with our Director and Trustees. We’re a small team but with a strong connection locally. Your role has the closest connection to our community partners, applicants and grant holders, and is therefore key to how we are seen and valued across Westmorland. In particular, you will:

Guide us through the whole grant-making process from initial communications through assessment and presentation of applications
Maintain accurate records of all enquiries, grants and other financial and administrative needs
Organise and prepare for all Trustee meetings, ensuring you take accurate minutes and that all actions are followed up
Provide a strategic input into our policy development, relationships with advisory bodies and the future direction of the Frieda Scott Trust.

We’d like to see previous experience in either the voluntary sector or a similar role. Bearing in mind we get many more requests than we can possibly support, you will therefore need to be able to guide applicants and enquiries accurately according to Trust policy and guidelines, utilising a sound knowledge of local needs and assets.

A strong and influential communicator both verbally and in writing, you will be at ease liaising with Trustees and the wider group of local organisations we partner with and support.

Think this is the right role for you? Then please send us a covering letter telling us why you think you are a good match for this position, along with a copy of your CV by no later than the 8th March. We have a strong commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at the Frieda Scott Trust and we welcome applications from all with an interest and experience in similar work to ours.

A pre-screening interview will take place via Zoom or Teams with our HR Consultants; Meraki HR, with final interviews taking place week commencing the 11th March 2024, which will be an in person interview with our Director and the Chair of Trustees. If you need us to make any adjustments to our recruitment process to accommodate your needs, then please do let us know.
