POWER BI ANALYST

The role of Power BI Analyst will help the team provide expert data analytics, reporting and insight. This role will lead their own projects and contribute to the wider team delivery of analysis projects using internal and external data across digital, marketing, supporter, and operational activity to drive  the  optimisation and innovation of our fundraising activity and increase contribution.  

What will I be doing?

• Understanding stakeholder business objectives and gather reporting and analysis requirements and document as per the team's governance model.

• Leading projects to develop and provide robust, high quality and insightful KPI reports and analysis for each area of the business and ensure that the business has the most up to date and relevant information available as part of a programme of data analysis projects.

• Ensuring that reports and insights are communicated to stakeholders in a way that drives impact and influence.

• Ensuring delivery adheres to the established business processes and that all necessary documentation and working procedures are always maintained.

• Developing the ability to competently use a broad range of reporting and analysis tools across multiple data sources, building a source agnostic approach.

• Investigating and reconcile data inconsistencies, ensuring that Analyst & Reporting team produce consistent results and information.

• Identifying opportunities and collaborate with other team members to improve the governance of reporting and analysis, generate more efficient processes, and provide a joined-up view of insight.

• Building, developing, and managing relationships and share skills and learning with key stakeholders and networks to ensure the work of the department matches needs and builds capability.

What skills will I need?

• Relevant experience of reporting and data analysis techniques and statistics gained in an organisation or agency, ideally with complex marketing and comms landscape.

• Relevant experience of using Power BI, familiar with creating advanced data models and DAX language, using outputs to make actionable dashboards and insights.

• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (experience in creating macros advantageous but not essential).

• Experience of Google Analytics advantageous but not essential.

• Experience of leading and delivering projects with proven impact and demonstrating excellent project management and planning skills with ability to prioritise workload.

• Strategic skills (including analysis, structured thinking, and logical reasoning) and strong accuracy and numeracy, with good attention to detail.

• Evidence of proactive behaviours, and ability to work independently, challenges own performance, invests in own development and finds innovative solutions to problems. 

• Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to convey expertise in a way that engages and builds their knowledge.

• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with others and work as part of a team.

DATA ANALYSIS & RESEARCH MANAGER

Salary: £44,000 per annum

Reports to: Senior Cancer Intelligence Manager (Prevent and Epidemiology)

Location: Stratford Office, London, w/ high-flex (1 - 2 days per week in the office). We are open to further discussions around flexible working for the successful candidate.

Working hours: 35 hours per week. (Compressed Hours or part-time 4 days per week available)

We are looking for a Data Analysis & Research Manager to join our Cancer Intelligence team. We need you to manage a team of analysts to deliver prevention projects. You'll work with other managers specialising in general epidemiology, early diagnosis, treatment, and cross-cancer pathway work.

What will I be doing?

• Managing projects undertaken by analysts, by liaising with internal teams and other Data Analysis and Research Managers on project need, delivery timelines and outputs
• Being responsible for general line management and pastoral care of prevention Analysts
• Managing prevention projects including resource planning and stakeholder management
• Building strong relationships with other Data Analysis and Research Managers and the Principal Statistician to ensure that projects have the appropriate support
• Contributing to sign-off on general statistics and press enquiries
• Developing a project prioritisation approach which meets the needs of Analysts, other Data and Research Managers across Cancer Intelligence, and other internal teams, and communicating decisions about project prioritisation to stakeholders.
• Managing multiple concurrent projects and being prepared to flex your own and others' workplans to meet business need.

At Cancer Research UK, our Health Community Engagement team delivers targeted cancer awareness activity in areas of greatest need across the UK. Our Talk Cancer training equips people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to discuss cancer and health with people in their local community, and to spread key cancer prevention, early diagnosis and screening messages to those who need it most.

Our Talk Cancer programme trains people through interactive workshops delivered by experienced nurse trainers (face-to-face, online, and interpreted into any language), our social media channels, and our newsletter. We also run an internal Cancer Research UK staff training scheme and learning plan on how to talk about cancer. It's an exciting time to join the team with our Talk Cancer programme being central in our work to help to reduce health inequalities. You will help us reach people who need and can benefit from our health information the most.

We now have a great opportunity for someone to join us as a Senior Communications Officer. In this role, you can expect to support the effective development and delivery of Cancer Research UK's Talk Cancer training programme. This role seeks to maximise the reach, targeting and impact of the programme, as well as ensuring optimal engagement with new and existing trainees.

What will I be doing?

Responsible for key aspects of the Talk Cancer training programme, including co-ordinating all programme marketing, managing our Talk Cancer social channels, running our internal training offering and leading our efforts on targeting our training to the highest need areas of the UK.

In particular, you will be:

• Leading on promoting the Talk Cancer programme internally and externally. This includes creating proactive marketing plans and materials, generating and responding to relevant promotional opportunities, writing public-facing communications and creating engaging content. This may involve working independently or utilising the channels and expertise of other CRUK teams (e.g. our in-house design team).

• Engaging Talk Cancer trainee's by writing and sending regular newsletters and creating content for Talk Cancer's social channels and main CRUK channels

• Having ownership of all Talk Cancer web content, with the responsibility to review and update, ensuring the best search optimisation practices are used, as well as reporting on web performance

• Managing the 'Talking About Cancer' internal learning plan through updating content, responding to comments, promoting to staff, and reporting on performance

• Building and managing effective relationships with internal stakeholders who ensure the quality and accuracy of our content including colleagues in our Health Information & Cancer Intelligence teams

• Ensuring programme training content and marketing materials are in line with the latest audience insight, brand requirements and accessibility considerations.

What skills are you looking for?

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an aptitude for creating content, and working with digital and social media formats

• Some experience of delivering communications or marketing activity

• Excellent organisation and time management skills with proven ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritise work and meet multiple deadlines

• Proven ability to create project plans and coordinate a team of people to deliver activity

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a range of internal colleagues and external stakeholders

• Solution-focussed and able to use initiative to capitalise on opportunities

• A proactive mindset, who drives projects forward and is comfortable with working both independently and with the wider team

• Good basis of understanding of evaluation and reporting methods.
