CISWO is a national charity whose mission is to improve the lives of individuals and communities facing disadvantage due to the impact of the coal mining industry.

We are currently recruiting for a Grants Officer to support all aspects of our grant applications, collaborating with colleagues and our partners to develop and execute engaging applications to a range of funders in order to support the work with our client groups.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience of writing content and developing applications to large and small funding bodies. 

This role can be based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire or Pontypridd, South Wales.

As Grants Officer, you will:

• Secure income through funding applications to a range of large and small scale funders.
• Write high quality, compelling applications that are submitted on time and in line with funder requirements and eligibility criteria.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop applications for funding and compile high quality content that is realistic, deliverable, and appropriately budgeted.
• Identify and obtain any support and advice required for the preparation, planning and management of funding applications.
• Develop information and guidance for internal and external stakeholders that supports the funding application process.
• Build and maintain relationships with funders to develop an understanding of the charity’s work.
• Identify new and existing funding opportunities that meet organisational priorities
• Maintain accurate monitoring and recording of data to evidence performance.

The essential qualities, skills and experience you will need to apply for this role:

• Experience of writing compelling, high quality funding applications to secure income from a range of funders.
• Experience of developing applications to major funders such as National Lottery, Sport England, central government and local authorities as well as smaller grants and trusts.
• Knowledge of various funders and ability to analyse and assess which opportunities are appropriate to consider.
• Skilled at presenting complex project information in a clear and engaging way.
• Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal with the ability to produce concise, persuasive and engaging narrative.

The Autism Centre of Excellence exists to improve access to high quality support and remove barriers and stigma for autistic people, but to do this we need to grow our funding.

We aim to raise £5 million over the next five years to increase our reach, impact and activities, whilst creating a sustainable and predictable income stream for the charity. To do this we need to systematically build a pipeline of donors and supporters, to build profile and new relationships. In the short term we need someone who can lead the development of a series of applications to trusts, foundations and other sources of funding to support our priority workstreams.

Main duties and Responsibilities

• Primary focus will be on managing and soliciting income from your own portfolio of high value trusts, foundations and statutory funders, securing gifts of between £10,000 - £1,000,000 to successfully achieve the charity’s ambitious fundraising targets.
• Secondary focus will be on the planning and delivery of first-class Special Events and Major Donor fundraising.
• Create a robust prospect pipeline of effectively researched and qualified funders, ensuring a continued flow of prospects through the pipeline, taking a sales approach to lead generation and the assessment of the warmth and value donors.
• Deliver effective research of prospective and existing donors, which enables us to raise significant income through both new and existing relationships; utilising our networks effectively.
• Implement effective cultivation and stewardship journeys that provides a high-quality supporter experience to your portfolio of donors and prospects.
• Deliver first-class relationship management to ensure excellent ongoing relationships with donors in both a written and face-to-face capacity.
• Deliver exceptional writing skills through proposal and bid writing and day-to-day communication with donors and colleagues.
• Fully understand the charity’s projects and activities to both ascertain their suitability as funding propositions and communicate them in a compelling manner to funders.
• Work closely with operational colleagues to develop compelling and thorough cases for support to inform our research and fundraising strategies.

The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Every day there will be a different challenge that you’ll find extremely rewarding. We are recruiting a Legacy Fundraiser to grow PAPYRUS’ legacy income by creating and implementing a multi-year legacy strategy, planning and delivering activities in this area and managing residuary, specific and pecuniary cases. 

What you will do: 

• Develop and implement a legacy strategy and operational plan for long term growth.

• Research and develop new legacy activities and create a marketing plan. Project manage the day-to-day planning and delivery of activities central to the legacy marketing program, including: direct mail, email marketing, digital, social media, events, and the promotion of tribute funds and free will services.

• Work closely with the Fundraising Manager and communications team to develop a compelling legacy proposition and produce a suite of legacy and in memory marketing materials that can be used to engage and inspire supporters to take the next step in their legacy giving, including sharing inspiring, compelling case studies to support legacy marketing and in memory activity, including gathering stories from legacy and in memory supporters.

• Work across income generation and with other departments to identify and target legacy prospects within the existing supporter base and other potential legacy audiences across all of PAPYRUS’ networks.

• Identify opportunities to cross promote legacy and in memory giving to supporters as well as any activity from across the charity that could provide appropriate cultivation and stewardship opportunities for existing and prospective Legacy and In Memory supporters.

• Provide teams with relevant, engaging and impactful content, messaging or resources for inclusion in cross-team supporter communications.

To be successful in this role you will have: 

• English and Maths GCSE or equivalent grade C or above

• Previous experience of working in a fundraising role for a UK registered charity 

• Proven track record of effective relationship management with donors/ fundraisers

• Experience of handling sensitive information appropriately 

• Experience of working effectively within a team environment and assisting colleagues 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write reports.

Trust Fundraising Lead

The Brendoncare Foundation is seeking an experienced Trust Fundraising Lead to join our dedicated and growing fundraising team. The role will lead on the development of our trust fundraising strategy, from development of the Case for Support, through to donor stewardship, application writing and submission.

Our fundraising programme is a vital support for our vision of transforming the culture of ageing.

The day-to-day of this role will include working with our delivery teams to devise projects for funding, ensuring you have the information required to make this a success. You will hold relationships with key trust donors, organising meetings pre application and building relationships with new donors to improve success rates.

Applications will include specified and restricted projects, general unrestricted funding and capital projects as required. This role will lead on all applications below £25,000 per year and support the Head of Fundraising with applications larger than this.

What will I be doing?

Strategy, research and prospect development

• Develop and implement a comprehensive Trust Fundraising strategy, aligned with the financial targets and goals set by the organisation.
• Research and develop a large trust pipeline including warm and cold donors

Case for Support and application writing

• Draft specific applications from the case for support to meet donor requirements, ensuring applications are engaging, detailed and accurate
• Lead on collating data for the need of our services, pulling together research and working with delivery teams to collate impact data
• Working against specific KPIs for application submissions and income targets, reporting to Head of Fundraising against these monthly

Reporting

• Lead on the writing of reports to Trusts from which we have received funding
• Lead on engaging with the Trust after having received funding to keep them warm to future applications

Relationships

• Work collaboratively with the fundraising team, Trustees, care homes and community / club services team, staff and the central office team.
• Create and maintain effective relationships with external contacts to include prospective donors, community groups, volunteers and supporters.
• Support the wider work of the fundraising team where required, including at occasional evening and weekend events.

Maintain records of all donor and prospect relationships on our CRM system.

• Maintain high standards of donor care and stewardship.
• Keep abreast of fundraising activity and trends across the charity community, corporate and events sector.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Brendoncare’s work, in order to develop a compelling case for support for a range of projects and initiatives.

Corporate Responsibilities

• Promote Brendoncare’s charitable ethos, act as an ambassador for our services and support fundraising initiatives to maximise voluntary income for our charity.

What do I need to have to apply?

 Essential requirements

• Demonstrable experience of achieving income targets through trust and grants fundraising through submission of high-quality applications and effective donor stewardship.
• Minimum of 2 years in a grant writing role
• Successful 5 figure multi-year applications
• Experience of working in a target driven environment, ideally within a fundraising team
• Experience of using IT software including Microsoft Office and a fundraising Customer Relationships Management Tool
• Excellent and confident communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to network at all levels.

The role:
Since it began JUST ONE Tree has grown in leaps and bounds, beyond all our expectations. This year alone we’ve smashed the 4 million trees planted Milestone, become a partner in the United Nations’ Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and our founder has been nominated for Woman of the Year 2023.

Working alongside our founder Amanda, and other team members, you’ll be right at the heart of the action. We’re a small, friendly and passionate team.

We’re looking for someone who can seek out and build great partnerships, cultivate and manage large corporate donors whose values align with ours and help raise brand awareness. Someone who can proactively generate new and repeat business, and enjoys networking and building relationships with both corporate sponsors and high net worth donors.

This is a permanent part-time, and yet flexible role, for 3 days a week. We’ll explore the exact hours and timing with you and together find what works.

Your work with us will raise awareness about the climate crisis and the importance of sustainability in the business world in order to create a liveable future. You’ll help us restore wildlife and marine habitats, improve livelihoods in rural communities, protect against deforestation, alleviate climate anxiety in our young and of course help tackle climate change head on.

What does the role involve: 

• Grow our annual and long-term funding.
• Research and successfully secure new long-term relationships with exciting brands and large corporate donors whose company values align with ours.
• Take the helm in the ongoing stewardship of these accounts, keeping them enthused about being part of JUST ONE Tree, the impact they’ve had and what their involvement means we can achieve together.
• Designing and implementing strategies to increase funding and strong partnerships that raise brand awareness and reach new audiences.
• Research networking, speaking events and opportunities for the CEO, yourself and others to attend, to build our network and profile. 
   

About you:

• A self-starter, someone who takes initiative and has boundless energy to get out there and help us grow.
• You’re great at getting brands and high-value donors on board with causes like ours, and an instinct for how to communicate and build starter brands like us.
• A real people-person who enjoys networking, meeting new people, and building and nurturing strong relationships with others.
• Confident speaking with senior stakeholders and decision makers from large and high-profile organisations.
• Have a track record in working in a growth and development role (minimum 3 years), and have a strong record of securing key partnerships and generating large income streams/donations.
• Agile and creative to seek out new opportunities in a rapidly evolving space.
• A team player who’s eager to collaborate with the team to help achieve our goals. 
• Have a good eye for brand identity.
• Working remotely is your cup of tea but you also have the flexibility and ability to attend networking events or team meet-ups/co-working days
• An excellent communicator who can convey the brand story and our achievements in person, in meetings and at events.

What’s in it for you

Working remotely – Like to work from home? No worries, our team is spread out all around the world. However, for this role we are seeking someone who lives in the UK and a commutable distance to London for team meet-ups, client meetings and attending events.
Flexible working – work around the school pick-up, after you evening swim or you’ve walked the dog – you decide.
Flexible holiday policy – we believe in the importance of good mental health and family time. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Contributing to tackling the most pressing crises of our time – with a great team.
Part Time, 3 days per week or equivalent, to include either a Monday or Friday. Hours are flexible, as long as the majority is during the working day.
Basic Salary £40k-£42k pro rata (based on experience), plus commission.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential:

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACMA, ACCA, CIPFA)

Excel spreadsheet skills

Experience of budget preparation and preparing monthly management accounts

Clear understanding of risks relevant to the finance environment and controls required to mitigate risks

Good written and verbal communication skills

Strong leadership skills

You will have experience as a Finance Director / Manager, leadership and line-management experience and an understanding of charity accounting.

Desirable:

Experience of working in the Not For Profit sector and knowledge of the Charities SORP.

Knowledge of Sage accounting system

Experience of HR management

Southmead Hospital Charity is the official NHS charity for North Bristol NHS Trust. Together with the local community, we raise funds to help our hospitals go beyond what the NHS can afford - supporting major innovations in healthcare, alongside the small things that make a big difference during a stay in hospital. After successfully delivering two major funding priorities in 2023 – and launching a third in March 2024 - we’re on the hunt for an experienced and dynamic Head of Fundraising and Communications to help take our much-loved charity to the next level.

In this high-impact role, you will join the main leadership of the charity with responsibility for developing and implementing a fundraising strategy that enables the organisation to deliver fundraising priorities and diversify its income portfolio.

As a target-driven and highly motivated fundraising leader, you’ll provide excellent leadership, direction and support for the fundraising team in the achievement of financial targets and objectives.

You will play a key role in developing a communications and engagement strategy for the charity, supporting the Marketing and Communications Lead to increase the visibility of our charity, expand our audiences and strengthen engagement across our digital platforms.

Experienced with data and financial management, you will set budgets and the annual fundraising plan. You will work with the management team to report against agreed targets and monitor KPIS and help to maintain an accurate and up to date database.
