Key information:
Location: Remote working. (UK only) Must be able to attend a minimum of 5 mandatory meetings (includes overnight stay for 2-day meetings) at our office in Shrewsbury and occasional meetings elsewhere.
Contract: Permanent. Full time 37.5 hours a week.
Salary: Between £39,000 – £42,000 a year depending on experience,

Job Purpose
As the Head of Fundraising, your primary responsibility is to lead the strategic direction and execution of Village Water’s fundraising efforts, with a focus on diversifying income streams and maximising revenue generation. You will oversee all fundraising activities, particularly in Trusts and Foundations (both UK and International), corporate partnerships, High Value Donors, and statutory bodies. Your role involves crafting compelling funding applications and reports, creating an ambitious fundraising strategy, applying for and securing large multi-year grants from new and existing donors, ensuring exemplary donor stewardship, and fostering collaboration across teams to achieve fundraising goals.
Responsibilities
• Develop and refine a comprehensive fundraising strategy, with a specific emphasis on Trusts and Foundations & corporate fundraising, to ensure a steady pipeline of funding opportunities. Coordinate with team members to meet fundraising targets effectively and manage donation pipelines working with CEO and Finance manager to ensure the pipeline matches the cashflow.
• Directly oversee and support your team members, conduct performance evaluations, and provide coaching to ensure both individual and team objectives are achieved. (currently the team is 3)
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors, including Trusts, Foundations, Corporates and Statutory bodies, through proactive engagement and personalized stewardship.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues to develop persuasive proposals and impactful reports that effectively communicate Village Water’s mission and achievements.
• Plan and implement annual fundraising campaigns.
• Work closely with monitoring and finance teams to accurately assess impact and budgetary needs, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to donors.
• Maintain accurate donor records and ensure compliance with data protection regulations within Village Water’s database.

The Finance Officer will be involved in all aspects of the charity’s financial operations, this is a very broad role. From handling small donations like a child’s pocket money right up to processing large grants. You will be the first point of call for financial queries and questions arising from our team. You will process purchase and sales invoices, volunteer, and staff expenses. You will support grant and other fundraising applications, process donations from a variety of different platforms, deal with gift aid and banking. You will have a finance qualification and experience of working in the finance department of a charity. You will have strong Excel skills and familiarity of dealing with fundraising platforms such as JustGiving. You will need to form constructive and supportive working relationships with our volunteers and other stakeholders so you will need strong communications skills, excellent numeracy and literacy, the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise your own workload while maintaining a compassionate, professional, and efficient public image for the charity.

The Purpose of the role
The Finance Officer is responsible for the smooth running of all aspects of the financial management of BCFB.
· Provide sound technical and professional advice to the CEO, Board of Trustees, and others.

Key tasks and responsibilities
Financial Management
Accountancy and Bookkeeping Systems
Maintenance of all accounting records on an ongoing basis to include:
· Manage all income and expenditure processing.
· Maintain and improve bookkeeping and accountancy systems (both computerised and manual) including:
- Bank reconciliations
- Cash flow management
- Income and grant analysis (restricted and designated funds)
- Bank receipts and payments
- Purchase approval and recording processes
Accounts payable
· Process purchase invoices in an accurate and timely manner.
· Respond accurately and efficiently to queries from suppliers and colleagues regarding payments.
· Manage the Finance email inbox ensuring emails are dealt with in a timely manner.
· Ensure Petty cash is available and monitored.
· Process staff expenses, ensuring compliance with policy.
· Access and administer online banking.
· Pay salary and staff costs liaising with our accountants (who administer payroll) regarding any updates/changes.
Accounts Receivable
· Control and Monitoring of restricted funds including detailed records of spend allocation of funds and remaining balance.
· Accurately accounting for all income receipts monthly including donations from individuals and organisations and grants and claiming any appropriate Gift Aid.
Budgets
· Prepare and update annual income and expenditure budget in consultation with the CEO and other officers.
· Monitor the budget against actual and investigate any major variations in budget.
· Involvement in strategic and business planning projections with the CEO and other officers.
Reports
Produce regular management information so that key officers and trustees know how well the charity is performing against its budget. To include:
- Provide regular monthly management financial information (including financial highlights/list of assets/budget against actual/restricted and unrestricted funds/fund movement summary/fund balances/trial balance/balance sheet) for the CEO and Board of Trustees.
- Quarterly financial reports for the Board of Trustees including detailed analysis of income and expenditure.
- Reports on individual activities including Lottery and grants.
- Filing Annual Return to the Charity Commission.
- Assisting with funding reports.
Annual Financial Audit
- Work with BSN, our accountants/auditors to produce the statutory accounts and planning of the year-end audit.
Bank and Treasury Management
- Treasury management in connection with cash and investments held by the charity.
- Manage cash flow to ensure that the level of interest received is as high as possible and that bank charges are kept to a minimum.
- Ensuring Current Account balances are kept at a reasonable level.
Fundraising
· Ensure that the most tax-efficient solution is applied to fundraising income through gift aid and other schemes.
· Assisting with applications for funding ensuring that all grants, sponsorship and donations are paid on time and the financial conditions met.
· Keeping clear records of funding bids, successful bids and spending related to these bids.
Communication and Coordination
- Ensure the efficient circulation of financial information as needed including that required from external advisers e.g., auditors.
- Liaise with and advise the CEO and others as appropriate on all financial matters.
- Liaise with and maintain a good working relationship with bankers, accountants, auditors and donors.
- Liaise and maintain a good working relationship with volunteers, staff and Board of Trustees.
- Attend staff and Trustee meetings as required to provide information and analysis.
- Understand confidentiality in accordance with GDPR.
Professional/Technical
- Keep up to date with financial developments across the sector, changes in requirements for charity reporting and changes in legislation.
- Maintain and monitor the Internal Financial Procedures policy document and make recommendations on best practice, good governance, policies and procedures and implementing same.
- Experience with the software for donations, My Giving online and the accounting package, My Fund Accounting online. The software is specifically for churches and charities.
- Experience with Just Giving and other online giving platforms in particular claiming Gift Aid.
Administration
· Undertake all finance related administrative tasks ensuring orderly filling of electronic (Sharepoint) and paper documents and preparing for financial audits.
· Prepare the banking.
· Paying in cash and cheques to the bank/post office.
· Posting letters.
Other
· Contribute to the financial risk assessment.
· Keep abreast of current legislation and practices also, best practices with peer organisations and preparing reports and recommending procedures for BCFB.

Our Insight team sits within our Fundraising Operations function, and together we ensure we are providing excellent, audience-driven supporter experiences, and making our data and systems work effectively across fundraising and communications activity. Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience of statistical analysis, data interpretation, and reporting. We are seeking a strong communicator, who can work across teams and levels, explaining complex information in a clear and understandable way.

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Grants Officer to join our dynamic organisation. During this maternity cover, Grants Officer will report directly to the Director of Grants, Contracts and Compliance. They will work across all of Internews’ geographies to provide the highest standard of grant management support to partners receiving higher value grants from us. The incumbent will have a unique opportunity to learn about Internews’ work and to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of our missions across the World.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grant Management and Compliance
· Provide grant management support to Programme Management Units, country offices and partners. Participate in regional portfolio reviews.
· Support start‐ups of partner projects by coordinating project stakeholders and ensuring that all relevant processes and procedures are in place.
· Develop guidance documents and procedures to enable effective and compliant operation of partner projects. Supports project teams in adapting Internews’ standard sub-granting policies, procedures and toolkits to country contexts.
· Review and sign off on alldue‐diligence assessments in preparation for sub‐granting to partners.
· When requested, support project teams and the Business Officers, in monthly spend and burn rate reviews and donor report submissions
· Monitor the compliance from HQ to satisfy organisational and donorrequirements.
· Monitor the implementation of partner projects to ensure the implementation process is in line with grant agreements; and proposes solutions to implementation issues. Quality‐assure partner reporting, and track co-financing liabilities.
· Provide end-to-end management of partnership agreements, including drafting.
· Participate in project close-outs. Contribute to audit; support the audit manager on queries about sub-grants.
· Maintain records on the organisational grant management system.
Partnerships and Development
· Design and implement grant management and compliance trainings for partners and Internews staff.
· Identify and document best grant management practices from individual grants, works with M&E colleagues to coordinate debriefings with stakeholders.
· Advise development colleagues on key considerations relating to donor and statutory compliance requirements as related to sub-grants.
· Contribute to the development of partner budget proposals to ensure their appropriateness and compliance.
· Transfer grant-management expertise to country offices
· Support country office leadership teams to identify requirements and recruit grant management staff;
· Deliver trainings for key grant management staff in country offices and PMUs.
Expert advice
· Manage and develop the grants expertise at GC&C team ensuring the highest standards of grant management support to PMUs, country offices and regional and multi-country portfolios as required.
· Provide ongoing feedback to the Director of GC&C on required improvement and updates on donor regulations and contractual obligations to ensure organisational knowledge is built and improved continuously, with particular focus on the consistence and continuous improvement of sub-granting processes.
· Ensure good knowledge management across grants, including key project documentation, to enable all teams supporting the grant to access information and provide a fully auditable trail.
· Contribute to annual work planning and budgeting process.
Essential Skills and experience:
· Demonstrated experience in the context of international non-for-profit.
· Strong experience in the development and implementation of grant management processes and procedures.
· Deep understanding of rules of major European donors, including the European Commission, SIDA, and FCDO.
· Proven track record in conducting due diligence on organisations and their policies, ensuring compliance and alignment with standards.
· Proven track record in grant management training and mentorship for grantees.
· Comprehensive understanding of the setup, governance, and business models of non-for-profit organisations and media
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, enabling clear and effective interaction with stakeholders.
· Proficiency in interpreting budgets and accounts, facilitating informed decision-making.
· High IT literacy, including proficiency in grant management systems (preferably U4B), Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Demonstrated self-motivation and initiative, with the ability to work autonomously.
· Effective organisational skills, including prioritisation, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of tasks and adherence to deadlines.

Through our three charities, we work in partnership with the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to deliver world class care.
Crucial to this is the energy and focus we bring to ensuring charitable donations are utilised as effectively as possible through the Guy’s Cancer Charity, the Evelina London Children’s Charity and the Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity. You will work in our Trust Engagement team, which is responsible for developing projects with colleagues at the Trust, making grants to deliver those projects and managing those grants on an ongoing basis. We also manage many donations for specific Trust services, which are held in our special purpose funds and disbursed through partnerships with Trust staff.
You will play a central role in ensuring the positive impact of our grant making and special purpose funds for patients and staff at the Trust and will work closely with our Funding Managers to support our funding processes and the design and delivery of projects across our three charities.
You will also work closely with colleagues in our Fundraising, Evidence and Impact, Finance and Operations and Communications teams as well as colleagues across the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
This role has huge potential for an ambitious, energetic and self-starting professional to have a significant impact on the lives of patients and staff across the Trust’s hospitals and community sites.
You do not need established expertise in health; but the ability to learn and establish credibility quickly is important.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a portfolio of grants, advising and guiding applicants and grant holders, with appropriate support from Funding Managers where needed.
- Manage questions and issues on grant or fund expenditure as escalated by the Funding Operations team, or delegated by the Funding Manager.
- Manage initial enquiries from Trust staff, responding to potential applicants and progressing ideas as agreed.
- Support the Business Manager to co-ordinate Committee meetings for all three Charities, including liaison with applicants and progressing meeting actions.
- Build strong relationships with the Fundraising and Communications teams, supporting robust information flow between the teams.
- Build strong relationships with grant holders, Special Purpose Fund holders and other Trust contacts, helping to raise the profile of our three Charities and spot opportunities to develop and fund work.
- Become familiar with the Charities’ Special Purpose Funds (SPFs), supporting annual requests for spending plans, coordinating approvals, and responding to queries from fundholders.
- Develop and manage a process to monitor fundraising income into SPFs and allocation of restricted donations.
- Work with the Trust Engagement Business Manager to design reporting that enables robust pipeline and grant management, and supports monitoring and evaluation.
- Support improvement projects as needed, such as improvements to funding schemes, funding operations or business systems.
