The vital work of the charity is partially enabled by income generated through fundraising; from supporter engagement and community events and activities, as well as philanthropic sources, such as trusts and foundations, and major donors.

As Supporter Engagement Officer you’ll play a key role in helping us to engage new and existing supporters as well as helping to deliver first-class stewardship to retain support and build trust. In addition you will develop appeals and communications that engage and inform supporters which help to raise more voluntary income.

Directly supporting the Direct Marketing and Legacy Manager and working closely with all of the Supporter Engagement team it would be beneficial if you have previous experience or an interest in Fundraising. Being a confident communicator with a “can-do” approach is essential as well as being able to demonstrate proven administrative skills, the ability to manage a varied workload and be highly organised.

We offer flexible working patterns, both in terms of hours and remote working. Please note that all employees are contractually required to work from the office a minimum of 4 days a month.

Live out your Christian faith in a fun job, surrounded by excellent kind volunteers and straight talking adults with learning disabilities in a beautiful farm setting near Winchester.  If you love cooking, people and thinking on your feet, then this is the management job for you.  Boaz is a small independent charity that over 100 people a week call their "workplace".  Four days a week around 30 people come to the farm to "work and learn together" doing a whole range of horticulture and other jobs such as cooking, craft, animal care and woodwork.  As Deputy Manager you will help keep the fun levels high, the stress levels low, and people working harmoniously together.  Four days each week you'll lead on cooking a simple vegetarian meal for everyone on site, plus be involved in the general day to day management of the charity.  But don't take my word for it, swing by for a coffee and a walk around to get a feel for things BEFORE you apply.  Based in a converted cow barn this is a MARMITE job, and we all know that people either love or don't love that spread.

It's a small team, only two other full time staff members working alongside you, but over 50 volunteers coming and going each week and over 30 adults with learning disabilities who spend half days or several days a week working at the project.  Each day starts with some "listening and prayer time" where people are encouraged to share and receive prayer if they request it.  Then some scripture is shared followed by remembering everything people are grateful for.  As Deputy Manager you would lead these sessions when the General Manager is on leave or be on a rota system.

The role is based on-site, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30.

You get 20 days holiday a year plus Public Holidays to start with, plus additional days for long service.

Pay will be in the range of £28 to £30,000 p/a depending on experience.

We are looking for a motivated, creative, and organised Engagement and Communications Officer to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for building a fairer legal system through impactful events, engaging member outreach, and powerful communications. Working alongside the Director of Development and the Head of Communications, this role will work across teams to maintain and strengthen engagement through events, communications and corporate outreach. You will play an integral role in communicating our work as widely as possible and improving and increasing engagement with our supporters, including our members, donors and corporate partners.

The Engagement and Communications Officer will work to maximise income and support for JUSTICE through events (approximately 45% of the role), communications (approximately 30% of the role) and membership (approximately 25% of the role). They will report to the Director of Development and Head of Communications.

We want someone who can learn and grow in this role so if you don’t have every skill listed but are organised, motivated, and interested in our work then we want to hear from you.

The JUSTICE team currently work in a hybrid manner. Staff members have access to office space in London, however, attendance is currently optional. Karibuni Children, a UK registered charity, works to help Kenyan children from some of the poorest backgrounds, to fulfil their potential and release themselves from the cycle of poverty. At any one time, we are supporting around 700 children across Kenya and our aim is to walk with the children through their whole education.  In addition to providing financial support to enable children to attend high-quality educational institutes, we work to reduce other barriers that may prevent those living below the poverty line from maximising their educational potential. This includes provision of nutritious school meals, school uniforms and shoes, learning equipment and feminine hygiene products.  We also support initiatives focused on the empowerment of the wider family unit of each supported child, such as providing workshops on parenting skills, sustainable food production, nutrition, entrepreneurship, and business skills. To further support this, we work with our partners on infrastructure development projects which have the potential to transform the local community and deliver increased self-sufficiency and sustainability.

The charity is seeking to recruit a UK Operations Manager to support the programme of work.  The successful candidate will be one of only two paid employees, working with the Trustees to lead the charity through the next phase of its development. 

Job Description

Salary: up to £30,000 – 34,000 full time equivalent depending on experience.

Contract: Permanent / Part Time (30 hours per week)
This role is envisaged as permanent part time for 30 hours per week over a minimum of four days. However there is some flexibility in this, and consideration will be given to applicants either looking for a full time role or who can offer a minimum of 24 hours over 3 days per week. Role purpose:

To manage the UK Office activities and support Trustees in administrative tasks relating to Fundraising, Finance and Operational matters.

Key work areas and tasks:

b) To ensure the effective day-to-day running of the Karibuni Children Office, based in Stoke Mandeville, Bucks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration & Operations

● Develop and maintain effective and efficient administrative systems

● Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines with regard to staff, equipment and premises

● Provide support to all IT (Microsoft & Google) and CRM (Salesforce) users and ensure data integrity and reconciliation to other systems

● Carry out bookkeeping activities, creating banking schedules and ensuring that all cash and cheques received are banked within agreed timescales

● Oversee Gift Aid claims and ensure that compliance with regulations is maintained

● Assist volunteer Treasurer with preparation of management accounts as necessary

● Maintain records for restricted and designated funds, reconcile Charity Gifts income and other income sources.

 Fundraising

● Ensure postings to CRM are accurate and reconcile to financial systems

● Manage receipts from online sites and ensure that CRM system is updated accordingly

● Ensure that all donations are appropriately acknowledged

● Organise and manage Karibuni’s own-organised fundraising events, marketing events on internal and external platforms, registering participants, overseeing risk assessments, and maintaining related records.

● Provide a focal point for 3rd party fundraising events, ensuring proper communication and recording
(Pending the ongoing automation of some of these processes, there is the option for them to be delegated to a part time bookkeeper)

 Marketing & Communications

● Make updates to the charity website and social media channels

● Design and publish the bi-annual print and email newsletter including writing and collating stories and images.

● Write and publish regular email communications to supporters.

REQUIRED

● Empathy with the Vision, Mission and Core Values of Karibuni Children and a commitment to work to the highest standards of integrity.

● Appropriate technology skills, with the ability to manage a small estate of IT equipment.

● Good financial knowledge and awareness. Ability to analyse and interpret a variety of data and produce insightful management information

● The ability to monitor and maintain personal performance against agreed targets

● Good organisational skills including the ability to plan and arrange own work

● Effective written and oral communication skills

● Willingness occasionally to work outside of usual office hours

● Enhanced DBS check

PREFERRED

● Experience in the Voluntary or other regulated sector, preferably in an administrative, events management, fundraising and/or IT support capacity

● An understanding and interest in international development is desirable

● Awareness of key Charity Commission guidance

● Experience in finance and bookkeeping processes

● Experience in fundraising

● Experience in events management

● Experience designing and managing operational processes and control frameworks. Ability to develop, monitor and maintain quality standards.

About the role
A key member of WVUK’s Humanitarian & International Programmes (HIP) management team, you’ll lead the unit that’s responsible for acquiring around £35m of institutional donor funding (grants & contracts) each year, as well as corporate and philanthropic proposal development on behalf of the Strategic Partnership Directorate. Defining and ensuring a consistent approach to delivering quality and timely submissions that are coordinated and informed with input from all relevant stakeholders will be important too, as will ensuring the available capacity and capability of a team to lead submission development. Line managing and developing unit members, providing strong proactive support to other HIP unit managers and playing your part in developing and delivering HIP team plans – all are aspects of this high-profile role.

About you

To succeed, you’ll need proven experience of developing and maintaining relations with institutional donors, analysing their funding requirements and shifting worldviews (particularly DFID/FCDO, EU/ECHO), and working with, managing, and developing relationships with consortium partners. You’ll also need field experience of working in different cultures and religious contexts. Proactive and creative in improving existing processes and developing new ones to improve efficiency and effectiveness, you’re adept at knowledge management within a demanding team environment and used to line managing and training, mentoring or capacity building a team.

You’re an excellent project manager too - someone who’s comfortable working on complex multiple tasks and prioritising to meet deadlines. Expertise in a specific technical area - e.g., child protection, health, nutrition, livelihoods, social accountability, resilience or economic development, would also be useful, as would working knowledge of a second language. More important however, is a general awareness of Christian teaching to appreciate the Christian ethos of WVUK and live their values. As an active Christian (Permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1 of The Equality Act 2010), this role allows you to integrate your Christian faith and be sensitive to its various expressions across cultures and denominations.

About the role

Are you an experienced corporate fundraiser with an interest in working in the international development sector? Are you creative, strategic, highly organised, a confident and effective communicator and strong team player? 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager to work closely with the Head of Programme Funding to drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. If you are seeking a dynamic and engaging fundraising role which offers you the chance to play a pivotal role within a small but ambitious organisation, then this could be the job for you.

You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted corporate partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).

The role also line manages the Senior Fundraising Officer post, a position that provides administrative and fundraising support across the whole fundraising team.  Please note that we are a small team and so you’ll need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other restricted income streams. 

If you think you have the skills, qualities and drive to fulfil this role, but don’t meet all of the specifications, or perhaps you’ve gained your experience in (for example) commercial sales or within relationships management and are looking to move into development work, we would still welcome hearing from you.
