Your role

As Shop Manager at Scope's Scarborough shop,  you’ll have autonomy to run your shop using your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. Our retail roles are full of variety, and every day is different! One day you might be  generating and processing stock and designing an eye-catching window display. The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Every day there will be a different challenge that you’ll find extremely rewarding. You will have relevant experience in retail but a great attitude and willingness to learn is just as important.

About you

As Shop Manager you’ll be passionate about retail and have a love of fashion with experience of running a shop, or you’ll be looking for a management role as the next step in your career. To be successful, you’ll need a commercial, can-do attitude and always put the customer’s needs first. You’ll be a dedicated team player with a strong work ethic, a great attention to detail, solid IT skills and a creative eye for displays. About working in our shops

Our shops are the face of our retail brand, run by a dedicated, creative and passionate bunch of superstars. We focus on sustainable fashion and engaging with local communities. We lead our volunteers to deliver a great colleague and customer experience. And we raise much needed funds to deliver Everyday Equality for disabled people and their families.

It’s important for you to know that Scope Charity Shops are open every day. So some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. Our full time hours are 35 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekly hours for part-time vacancies are on a seven-day rota.

About Unlocked

Unlocked Graduates exists to break cycles of reoffending, with particular focus on breaking the link between disadvantage and reoffending. Currently prison is not a place which successfully does this: the average prisoner has 16 previous convictions and 48 percent of prisoners reoffend within a year of release. We’re looking for a Head of Curriculum with a deep passion for best practice pedagogy, curriculum and assessment to help us continue to develop our participants into transformative prison officers and extraordinary future leaders. You will use your deep understanding of pedagogical theory and an uncompromising enthusiasm for how people learn to oversee an entire two-year programme of study, from initial residential training all the way through to ongoing professional development. 

Our team has worked hard to craft an outstanding training programme for our participants. Our practice-based curriculum and pedagogy is built on the work of Doug Lemov, and the knowledge aspects of the curriculum are embedded in theories of explicit teaching rather than discovery learning for novice practitioners, as per the work of E.D. Hirsch. These theories will be therefore essential understanding for anyone taking on the role. 

Positioned as pioneers in the prison sector, we are proud to have built a strong reputation for developing quality training for a frontline public sector role.  Notably, elements of our training have been integrated into His Majety’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) training of all new staff, and various other countries and related sectors have reached out for us to share our training expertise too. The Head of Philanthropy will play a pivotal role in fostering strong connections between the school and our alumni and parent community. We are entering the early stages of a new major philanthropic campaign, which will significantly scale the ambition for the school’s fundraising and engagement activity. As a team we have a major role to play in shaping the future of the school’s bursary ambitions. Our success will widen access and support the futures and aspirations of disadvantaged young people within our local community, and beyond. This position involves strategic planning, relationship-building, and effective communication to help deliver the school’s philanthropic and fundraising strategic objectives. This is a senior fundraising role, reporting into the Director of Development. You will be required to manage and develop a portfolio of high-level funders (both from the UK and international), securing philanthropic donations, whilst also stewarding our donors effectively, creating innovative and compelling ways to demonstrate the impact of their philanthropic support.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will need to:

• Be able to demonstrate a track record of securing, administering, and stewarding significant gifts from donors, or significant experience in leading income generation activity through regular giving programmes within the charitable sector.
• Work with the Head, Bursar, Director of Development, Foundation Trustees, and other senior colleagues and volunteers to research, plan and undertake donor cultivation and solicitation meetings.

Role Purpose

The Community Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover) role will be a critical piece of our Community Programmes team, which provides support to founders at every stage of their startup journey. The Community Programme offering includes a roster of events including panels, masterclasses and workshops, as well as mentoring and coaching opportunities, and peer-to-peer engagement opportunities. We work with an exciting range of partners across the private and third sectors to connect underrepresented founders to networks and capital that will help launch and grow their mission-driven businesses.

We are looking for a driven, process-oriented self-starter who is interested in a role that will expose them to a variety of activities across the Community portfolio. As the Community Engagement Manager, you’ll work directly with the Co-Head of Programmes to ensure the systems we need are in place to support the team to deliver their support offering and that we are constantly learning and evolving our programme offering from Founder feedback and engagement.

You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering programmes and events for the graduate community, as well as contribute to our community engagement strategy – helping us to set up new aspects of our programmes and collaborating with programme managers and coordinators across the portfolio to contribute to a more engaged community of entrepreneurs.

Responsibilities

Graduate Community Engagement

• Maintain the community engagement strategy for enhanced engagement between founders and a more cohesive founder journey across all stages
•  Maintain the end-to-end design and management of the founder experience in the graduate community platform (Circle)
• Helping founders to widen their networks and facilitate connections that can provide critical support and direction via our graduate community platform
• Work collaboratively across the Programmes team to ensure entrepreneurs who engage with Hatch are connected to the best programmes, resources and offers for them

• Understanding both founder needs and partnership opportunities and coordinate the creation of  relevant resources, content and perks to meet these

Programme delivery and development

About us

Upbeat Communities was founded in 2005 to support refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives through a whole range of support including training, social activities, befriending and hosting. Upbeat Communities became a registered charity in 2015.

In 2013, Upbeat Communities launched Derby Language School (DLS) which is a social enterprise that provides language courses to individuals and organisations in the East Midlands. Alongside generating considerable income for the charity through its private and corporate classes it also provides quality language training for many refugees through contracts with councils.

In 2021, Upbeat Clean was started in response to significant challenges that refugee women have in finding employment to support their families. Upbeat Clean’s 5-year goal is to be able to offer a Real Living Wage job to every refugee woman who needs one in Derby. Upbeat Clean is fast becoming the most talked about commercial cleaning business in Derby with contracts at key venues like Derby Museums, Getinge, Vaillant, Quad, Deda and large offices across the city.

The two social enterprises (DLS and Upbeat Clean) have grown substantially over the last two years with a combined expected turnover of around £700,000 in 2024/25 and more rapid growth ahead. We have over 30 employed cleaners and 20 freelance teachers and interpreters, with over 40 corporate contracts and 100 private clients.

Main duties and responsibilities

Strategy, Analysis & Development:

 • Continuously focus on balancing fast social enterprises growth while pursuing excellence for our customers.

• Support with the development of the overall business strategy.

• Lead on key business changes.

• Support in the development and implementation of marketing strategies for both enterprises.

Operations:

• Oversee the day-to-day business needs of Upbeat Clean and DLS.

Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP), a division of Richmond Fellowship since 2018, has been a leading provider of Respect accredited community perpetrator interventions working to stop domestic violence, increase safety for women and children, and reduce harm to families for over 30 years.

In your role you will need an excellent understanding of the nature of domestic abuse/violence and its effects on women and children. You will have relevant experience of providing one-to-one and/or group-work behavioural change interventions, responding robustly and supportively to challenging and harmful behaviour with adults from diverse backgrounds to reduce risk and facilitate change. You will have an excellent understanding of Safeguarding procedures and be confident working both independently and as part of a team, working closely and collaboratively alongside partner agencies such as Victim/Survivor services, Children and Families Services, Offender Management services and more.

You will have opportunity to play a key role in DVIP’s violence prevention services, working in partnerships with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver effective community responses to domestic abuse, in line with RESPECT practice standards. You will be responsible for risk-managing a caseload of domestic abuse perpetrators, delivering intensive interventions on a one-to-one basis, as well as co-delivering structured group programmes for individuals who have been abusive towards an (ex)partner or family member. You will pro-actively engage those using abuse, conduct interviews to assess risk and suitability for intervention, and coordinate with relevant professional partners to increase safety to victims and children. Day to day, you will work flexibly across a number of locations, including regular days working co-located within Local Authority Children and Families Services, Offender Management services, Substance Misuse services, Health services or other relevant or referring services.  In this rewarding role you will also provide specialist DA support to other professionals working with families experiencing abuse, through provision of expert consultations and training delivery. 

You will be competent and responsible to work independently and flexibly, including some evenings, within any London Borough where DVIP is contracted (predominantly South London currently), for part of the working week.  You will be comfortable managing your own workload and related admin, and you will be able to communicate clearly with a range of people about sensitive and complex issues, including the writing of professional reports.

Founded in 1989 as a conservation charity, Green Light Trust is now a leading provider in East Anglia of education and wellbeing programmes for the most disadvantaged in society; mostly those in the lowest 5% in terms of their wellbeing and integration.  

As a charity Green Light Trust (GLT) has grown 200% over the past 2 years and we have a real sense of purpose and truly believe in our aim to help create a society where everyone has equitable access to the power of nature. We have helped and continue to help thousands of people to improve their mental health through nature, teaching them skills (such as woodwork, cooking, life skills) and strengthening self-esteem and confidence of children and adults who find themselves facing challenge in life. We help motivate a huge number of people seeking employment opportunities or an escape from their addictive or abusive pasts. We really do help people change their lives.
