Role Purpose
This is a senior support post of essential development importance to allow the Dean, Chief Operating Officer, Chapter and committees to develop and maintain an effective system of governance for the Cathedral with adherence to the highest standards of good governance practice. This will include relevant regulatory and legislative requirements. The post holder will provide comprehensive and effective secretariat support for Chapter and its statutory committees.
Job Description
Job Title: Governance & Committees Manager
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Key Relationships: Dean and Chapter, Chief Operating Officer, Committee Members, Cathedral Safeguarding Lead
Salary: £27,200 (pro rata from £34,000)
Hours of work: 28 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks). Some flexibility will be required to allow attendance at evening meetings and events.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Governance administration
- Assist in the production and submission of a range of information required in order to demonstrate compliance;
- Liaise with external legal advisors as required;
- Assist the COO with returns, reports and filings for statutory bodies including the Charity Commission, Church Commissioners, Information Commissioner’s Office, HSE and Companies House;
- Act as the Whistleblowing Officer and assist in the working of the Whistleblowing Policy;
- Assist with the completion of questionnaires and reports for the Cathedral’s insurers, Association of English Cathedrals etc;
- Maintain the declarations of interest and gift registry records for senior staff and committee members and record in the minutes when committee members are conflicted out or need to declare an interest;
- Assist the COO in keeping a log of complaints under the Complaints Policy adopted under the Cathedrals Measure and help to ensure that complaints are dealt with according to the policy;
- Provide such other support at the COO reasonably requires including correspondence, research and diary management.
Committees administration
- Lead the co-ordination, preparation, planning and follow-up for meetings and other committee work associated with the governance of the Cathedral. This will include issuing invitations, booking rooms, issuing Zoom invitations, arranging refreshments and access needs, assisting in the drafting of agendas, gathering and circulating supporting papers for the meetings, attending meetings, taking confidential minutes, circulating and amending minutes and maintaining action trackers for the members of the following committees: Chapter, Finance Committee, Audit & Risk Committtee;
- Assist in the work of the Nominations Committee to recruit members for the new committees;
- Assist in the work of the Standing Committee as it prepares for Chapter meetings;
- Assist the Dean and COO in their governance responsibilities under the Care of Cathedrals Measure 2021, including being the point of contact with the Fabric Advisory Committee and liaising with its Chair and Secretary;
- Liaise with committee members and maintain good relationships;
- Liaise with professional advisers where appropriate and in consultation with the COO;
- Assist in the scheduling of training and circulation of information and papers for Chapter and committee members as required.
Safeguarding administration
The Cathedral follows the safeguarding best practice and guidance set out in the Diocesan policy “A Safe Church” and also follows the policies and guidance set out by the National Safeguarding Team.
Reporting to the Cathedral Safeguarding Lead (CSL), the post-holder will:
- Assist the CSL in ensuring that safer recruitment practice is observed in all recruitment;
- Undertake the DBS checks for staff and volunteers if required, including verifying identity, submitting the applications and reporting to the candidate’s line manager/team leader when the checks have been completed. This will include advising colleagues as to which checks are appropriate and liaising with the Diocesan Safeguarding team and Volunteers & Community Officer;
- Maintain accurate records of all DBS checks carried out in a central register;
- Arrange for all new staff (paid and volunteer) to attend safeguarding training and arrange follow-up training for existing staff (every 3 years). This will include ascertaining which levels of training are required and which individuals will also need specific additional training for their roles;
- Liaise with the trainers to identify training sessions, book rooms and catering and arrange room set-up;
- Maintain accurate records of all safeguarding training carried out in a central register;
- Report to Chapter when required.
Additional responsibilities
- Support the COO in the coordination of risk management across the organisation;
- Arrange and manage the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) and parish clerking duties;
- Ensure timely publication of statutory notices in advance of the annual APCM;
- Assist the COO with returns, reports and filings for the Parish;
- Support data protection compliance across the organisation;
- Ensure that the highest standards of professional performance are maintained;
- Promote equal opportunities in the work of the department;
- Participate in the arrangements for this role’s performance review and appraisal;
- Ensure that professional skills are regularly updated through participation in training and development activities;

New Routes Integration

Principle purpose of the post:
The Operations Manager will work closely with the Chief Executive supporting on contractual service delivery (including the management of risk), quality and improvement across the organisation and ensure quality services are provided. This will be informed and implemented by ensuring that our participants have appropriate methods to inform programme delivery routinely.
The Operations Manager will support the Chief Executive in leading and monitoromg service and organisational quality, financial/income activity and expenditure, adherence to policies and procedures, and overall compliance with health and safety activity through a range of measures, including the use of reports and data to make critical and informed assessments.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing the Fundraising Strategy in order to diversify our funding streams enabling New Routes to develop exceptional services that meet our participants existing and emerging needs.

Context of Role:
Our Head of Young People's Services is a critical, strategic and operational role within Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone. As a supporting member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will work closely with the Director of Operations, CEO and the Director of Finance to ensure the charity delivers its vision and strategic objectives. This includes strategies for sustaining and overseeing the ongoing transformation of Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zones' operational business plan and its operational processes and infrastructure. Thank you for your interest in our Country Manager role. ROLDA (Romanian League in Defence of Animals) is a small animal welfare charity working to improve the lives of dogs, cats, and other animals in Romania and internationally. Since its establishment in 2006, ROLDA has become a beacon of hope for the millions of vulnerable stray animals in Romania – one of Europe's economically poorest nations. Our mission is to manage the homeless animal population, estimated to be millions, through six key focuses: rescue, rehabilitation, sheltering, sterilisation, and education. Within our shelters, inspired by British kennel design and maintained to meet EU animal welfare standards, we can house up to 700 stray dogs at a time. Here, they receive complete veterinary care, rehabilitation, and preparation for rehoming. Since 2006, we have helped over 48,000 animals (primarily dogs and cats) and built two shelters for dogs and one for disabled and senior cats. We also distribute support, primarily through small grants, to six other charities in Romania and over 40 shelters in Ukraine. We rehome mainly in Switzerland, Sweden, and the UK. In addition to our efforts in rescuing and rehoming animals, ROLDA tackles the root cause of Romania's homeless animals through comprehensive neutering programmes and educational initiatives. Since 2006, we have successfully neutered nearly 20,000 cats and dogs, significantly impacting Romania's severe overpopulation of animals.

Family Gateway is looking to recruit to the role of Financial Services Manager. The Financial Services Manager is a key strategic role within the organization and will be part of the Senior Leadership Team. The post holder will attend and be answerable to the Board of Trustees in the areas of finance, compliance and risk and undertake the position of GDPR lead on behalf of the organization working within the wider Senior Leadership Team that includes a Business Development Manager, Training and Development Manager and Operations Manager.
As Family Gateway enters into year 2 of its 3-year strategic plan, this is an exciting time in which the Board of Trustees, Senior Leadership Team, staff and volunteers will shape the future of service delivery for the community that it serves in Howdon and Wallsend and as it reaches beyond and across the North East with its Barefoot Professional Model of service delivery with steady growth in mind. The post holder therefore will be required to have a good understanding of the political and funding landscape and be able to form good stakeholder relationships.
The post holder will manage a small core staff team who will ensure the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as payroll, invoicing, and other transactions are completed and will ensure all information and returns relating to Companies House and the Charity Commission are up to date and compliant. The post holder will also be the key contact for tax preparation, auditing, banking, investments, and other financial needs as necessary and will track the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement.
The post holder will also seek out methods for minimizing financial risk to the company and research and analyze financial reports and market trends. The post holder will also be responsible for the management of Family Gateways assets, IT and quality assurance systems and will ensure Family Gateway is complaint in all areas of risk, governance and business.

The Central Service Coordinator will ensure Gaddum delivers its organisational objectives by coordinating efficient and effective Human Resources, People and Central workstreams.
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Head of Finance and working as part of a small but high performing team: They will be a key reference point for the organisation’s leaders to ensure those they manage have the best possible opportunities to thrive during the course of their employment at Gaddum.
The postholder will be responsible for overseeing central systems and processes relating to organisation-wide People Services as required by the Senior Leadership Team and Trustee Board.
This role is subject to a Standard DBS Check.
