Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Purpose of the job/About the role

Join Dementia UK as a Governance Officer, where you will provide comprehensive, efficient, and high-quality administrative support for risk, compliance, and governance matters.

As part of the Governance, Compliance and Risk team, you will help ensure a robust governance framework is in place across the Charity. You will support the Head of Governance, Compliance, and Risk in maintaining effective governance processes, policy frameworks, and establishing high levels of corporate governance practices. You will also work under the direction of the Company Secretary on governance matters and administrative support.

Your responsibilities will include attending meetings, ensuring effective record-keeping, and taking accurate minutes when appropriate. This will also involve arranging meetings, collating papers, prioritising diaries, and managing associated tasks.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in an administrative role, including the administration of formal meetings and minute-taking. You should have excellent written and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Strong organisational and work management skills, along with the ability to prioritise tasks, are essential.

About this role: 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role plays an important part in supporting our Finance Team in delivery of SIB’s new strategy and focus. 

Key responsibilities 

1. To ensure all bank mandate updates and KYC requests are dealt with efficiently and records accurately maintained. 
2. To be responsible for ensuring that, by month end, all bank reconciliations are completed for all entities, required for Management accountants to run loan and grant reports.
3. To reconcile and post interest for non-feed bank accounts when statements are received. 
4. To prepare the monthly Cash Analysis Report. 
5. To monitor credit control. 
6. To process monthly direct debit collections. 
7. To ensure the filing and archiving is up to date. 
8. To assist the Governance Team with minute taking at Committee meetings as and when required. 
9. To enter invoices into Receipt Bank/Xero, checking that coding and budget data is correct. 
10. To monitor and maintain shared finance mailboxes. 
11. To manage the electronic approval system – ApprovalMax. Matching Invoices to purchase orders and ensuring invoices are uploaded with correct authorisations. 
12. To handle any payment issues raised by internal/external team members for timely resolution. 
13. To prepare for and make weekly payments to SIB grantees, investees, employees and suppliers following laid down procedures. 
14. To set up payment templates for new payees within SIB’s agreed controls for suppliers, grantees, investees and team members. To support the Project Accountant and Head of Governance in maintaining and reviewing the supplier register to be complaint with ISO. 
15. To upload/import payments for approval when grants and loan disbursement requests are required. 
16. To be responsible for credit card and Pleo card book keeping and reconciliations. 
17. To generate sales invoices. 
18. To enter invoices into Receipt Bank/Xero, checking that coding and budget data is correct. 
19. To match Invoices to purchase orders and ensuring invoices are uploaded with correct authorisations. 
20. To be the bank administrator for all accounts in relation to systems admin. 
21. To work within the organisation's values, principles and processes to achieve operational excellence.

Main Purpose of the Role:

Royal British Legion Industries Ltd. (RBLI) is both a charity and a company limited by guarantee.  The trustees of RBLI are therefore responsible for oversight of the organisation under both charity and company law.  They are they legal directors, as determined by company law and the Articles of Association.  The day to day running of RBLI is the responsibility of the Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).  This role, which reports to the Director of Governance, Compliance & Business Systems, supports the board of trustees and the SLT in all areas of governance.

Overview of the Role & Team:

RBLI is a diverse and complex organisation, with divisions that cover social care, property management, estates management, welfare and employment solutions, manufacturing, and marketing / fundraising.  There are also several support functions including people and culture, finance and performance, business systems, and risk and compliance.  This role is an essential part of the change process currently ongoing across RBLI.

The team is overseen by the Director of Governance, Compliance and Business Systems.  Key working relationships include the board of trustees, the SLT, Assistant Directors, the Strategic Assistant, the wider Governance & Compliance Division, and the support functions.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Governance:

• Oversight of all board and sub-committee meetings, ensuring there is an efficient and effective structure to achieve organisational objectives including the review and maintenance of all terms of reference.
• Compliance with internal KPIs in relation to issue of board and sub-committee papers.
• Oversight of all matters arising and actions.
• Support the induction process for new trustees.
• Support the board and committee effectiveness review.
• Submission of all statutory returns.
• Ensuring compliance with the Companies Act and the Charities Act.
• Oversight of any governance related returns.
• Oversight of key RBLI registers such as Declaration of Interests.
• Oversee submission of documentation during the annual audit process.

Company Secretarial:

• Responsible for planning and managing the annual cycle of meetings for the board and sub-committees, including maintenance of the forward plans and agendas.
• Taking minutes of the boards and sub-committees (shared responsibility).
• Oversee the logistics for the meetings.
• Responsible for planning the AGM.

Legal and Assurance:

• Monitor compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, proving advice to SLT and members of staff as necessary.
• Oversight and communication of all compliance policies such as Conflicts of Interests and Gifts & Hospitality.
• Supporting the Director of Governance, Compliance & Business Systems to deliver the assurance and compliance programmes.

Risk Management:

• Managing the insurance process in terms of:
• Collating information in relation to claims
• Submitting claims information
• Supporting the Finance Team in the annual insurance renewal process

Personal Attributes:

Job Title: FM & Governance Coordinator

The Governance and Compliance Lead will be a key member of the organisation's senior management team, responsible for providing strategic advice and support to the Trust Board and the Chief Executive on governance matters, legal compliance, and risk management. This role will involve leading the development, implementation, and monitoring of organisation-wide policies, systems, and processes, including those related to human resources. The Governance and Compliance Lead will also support the Chief Executive with risk management policy and reporting.

Chief Executive – full-time, permanent, London (flexible/hybrid)

The Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) is seeking a new Chief Executive to lead the organisation through the next phase of its growth and development. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a highly experienced and energetic senior player to lead a small executive team, along with many highly dedicated and capable Institute members, as we embark on a number of key development projects which will continue to grow our charitable activities and influence in the food sector. The role is a key point of contact and ambassador for the Institute with many senior and influential stakeholders within the food sector and governments.

We are looking for a strong strategic and conceptual thinker, experienced in business and financial management, who can communicate with and influence people at all levels. The role leads a small team and will have significant hands-on involvement in day to day operational matters.

The individual will have attained a BSc or equivalent level, and have demonstrable experience in leadership and people management. They will have a broad understanding of the food (or associated) sector (and preferably experience working in the sector). Ideally, the individual will already have experience managing or running a charity, and so will have a practical understanding of charity governance best practice. 

With multiple activities from publishing through to professional recognition and from scientific and technical events and communication through to supporting the next generation of talent, the Institute is looking for a leader who can work creatively and yet in a focussed way to ensure all these activities are progressed.

Ideally, they will have previously worked for a professional membership body and are likely to have experience in the food sector.

We are looking for a development manager with a range of skills and experiences to support other mining charities develop a sustainable future. You will have a background in partnership working and developing funding opportunities, as well as a good understanding of charity governance.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in community and / or business development with a good knowledge of the charity sector.

As Development Manager, you will:

• Support mining charities to develop business plans and budgeting and help them to identify funding opportunities and develop funding proposals.
• Provide secretariat services to mining related regional grant making charities. 
• Contribute to the development of and promote the organisations support offer for other mining charities, seeking new methods of supporting local trustees.
• Support the recruitment and training of local trustees and officers, encouraging good governance
• Develop local partnership working with other voluntary sector organisations, tiers of local government and local communities.
• Ensure the organisation interests and responsibilities in partner charities are retained and fulfilled.
• Represent the organisation with external parties, including, welfare charities, councils and local authorities as required

The essential qualities, skills and experience you will need to apply for this role:

• Experience of community development and / or business development and an understanding of business planning and budgets
• Experience of identifying and applying for funding on a national, regional, or local level.
• Proven experience of working in the charity sector with a good understanding of governance requirements and the challenges facing the sector.

Footwork is a small but ambitious charity with an established reputation in global health networks and partnerships. Our vision is to eliminate podoconiosis, a non-infectious leg swelling common in the East African highlands. The main purpose of the role is to oversee and coordinate overall delivery of Footwork’s five-year strategy and to take a leadership role in maximizing fundraising opportunities.

The Resource Mobilisation and Strategy Manager will be based at the University of Sussex and responsible for maintaining and growing links with a wide variety of stakeholders, including national governments, international NGOs, and funders. The post holder will also manage and coordinate Footwork’s governance, including primarily the convening of the Footwork Advisory Board and Technical Committee, and providing input to and coordinating relevant outputs and actions from these bodies as required. The role offers an opportunity to have a key role in developing and shaping Footwork’s profile and impact at an exciting time. 

The successful candidate will -

• have proven experience of designing and delivering a strategic plan
• have transferable experience of securing sustainable funding
• be able to work as part of an inter-disciplinary international team

We are looking for someone with:

1. Substantial understanding of the fundraising landscape within and outside of the UK 
2. Knowledge of fundraising and organizational strategy implementation;

4. High level understanding of the Global Health funding landscape with awareness of the key issues in Global Health programme funding. 
5. Well-developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to present policy and procedure in a way that can be understood the audience.

7. Experience of working strategically to secure a sustainable model for a charity, NGO or similar organization;

At Qube we are working in partnership to make a difference in Shropshire by providing volunteer brokerage and governance support to voluntary groups and organisations.

The role of the Volunteer and Infrastructure Officer is to support the Volunteer and Infrastructure Team Lead within the Voluntary and Community Support team providing high quality information, support and expertise in infrastructure support opportunities available to groups and organisations within Shropshire.

They will promote volunteering and encourage new volunteers to come forward for the benefit of Shropshire groups, organisations and communities. Provide governance advice, support, and guidance to local community/charitable groups and organisations, including support to staff/volunteer managers on volunteer recruitment and retention and develop working relationships with community led/based local groups to support future growth and sustainability.

They will also offer and make aware training opportunities and provision to support group and organisational compliance and safety.

This is currently a fixed term position until 31st March 2025 with extension possible dependent on further funding.
