Healthwatch was set up in 2013 to champion the rights of health and social care users, and hold the health and social care system to account for how well it engages with the public. Its remit covers all publicly funded health and social care services for adults and children.

The Advocacy Project delivers Healthwatch services in Kensington & Chelsea, Brent and Westminster – three of 152 local Healthwatch organisations. We’re building on the important work that’s been done to date, while bringing new insights from the voices of seldom heard and hard to hear groups. 

About the role

The role is to lead the work of Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea, working with a small skilled staff team and a range of volunteers and other community stakeholders. In particular, you will share our commitment to embed user engagement and community development at the heart of the Healthwatch service model, empowering user voices and improving access to health services. 

You’ll have an opportunity to develop the service in line with our ambitious vision. This will include leading on the planning and delivery of targeted projects, supporting a diverse and varied engagement programme, and building relationships with a range of strategic partners. The Healthwatch Manager (Kensington & Chelsea) also takes the lead on managing our local Advisory Board.  You will work closely with the Healthwatch teams in Westminster and Brent. 

Key responsibilities

 Ensure Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea’s work conforms to all required principles, objectives and statutory obligations, and meets all contractual requirements between The Advocacy Project and Brent Council. 

 Manage and motivate a small staff team to deliver an effective and vibrant local Healthwatch.

 Provide leadership to make sure the patient and public voice is heard across health, social care, children’s and other sectors in a continuously changing external environment. 

 Support the effective working of the Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea Advisory Board. 

 Ensure local communities are able to participate fully in our work, particularly those that are least likely to have had their voices listened to. Support these communities in influencing local and national policy. 

 Represent Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea at strategic governance and external meetings with key stakeholders, liaising with nominated Board leads regularly. 

 Develop the service to respond to emerging trends and needs, keeping abreast of Healthwatch England best practice to continually enhance the quality of the service. 

 Monitor the service to make sure it delivers to time, budget and quality; provide reports evidencing this to key stakeholders, including local commissioners, Healthwatch Advisory Board, the Bi-borough Health and Wellbeing Board and Healthwatch England. 

 Develop effective partnerships with key staff in health and social care services. 

 Work with the communications and engagement lead to make sure all relevant internal and external stakeholders receive relevant, timely and up-to-date communication about all Healthwatch projects. 

 Work with the Healthwatch Service Manager and Head of Business Development to identify opportunities for funding additional work which will add value to our Healthwatch services.

Essential 

 Excellent knowledge of and experience of working with the health and social care system and the voluntary and community sector.

 Understanding of the public health challenges in Kensington & Chelsea.

About the role

Becoming the Programme Marketing Manager at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is a fantastic opportunity to help drive progress for women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries by engaging more people in our work.

The key purpose of this role is to effectively market our programmes to participants – chiefly our HerVenture business skills microlearning app and our sector-leading Mentoring Women in Business programme.

This will span three main projects:

· to successfully manage a marketing agency to effectively market the HerVenture app to women in South Africa (as part of a fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Mar ‘25);

· to successfully manage the same marketing agency to promote the app in Nigeria (as part of a separate fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Dec ‘24); and

· to effectively promote the opportunity to become a mentor to a woman entrepreneur through our Mentoring Women in Business programme to paying professionals worldwide. Your objective will be to secure 18+ paid mentors for the Nov ’24 programme intake and 20+ for the May ’25 intake.

Following the completion of the two HerVenture marketing projects, you will also lead other programme marketing initiatives in 2025. These will be determined in late 2024.

Following the May ’25 Mentoring intake you will deliver a strategy, harnessing your learning and analysis to outline an approach for marketing the programme to paying mentors in future.

You will also be called on to support other forms of programme marketing on an ad hoc basis, for example advising on development of corporate pitch decks, or co-designing materials for fundraising events.

This position reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing, however this is a highly collaborative role and you will also work closely with the Entrepreneurship programmes team and the Programme Funding team to develop and deliver plans and manage projects.

Our ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and motivated marketer with experience in ‘selling’ professional development / online volunteering opportunities, and in managing agencies and contractors to deliver on fixed projects as aligned to good marketing practices. You should be highly organised and goals-driven, with a collaborative approach, a growth-oriented mindset, and a strong desire to harness the power of marketing to support women’s economic empowerment.

Community Advice Works is an established community charity based in New Cross in South
East London. As the only charity in the London Borough of Lewisham offering a general
drop-in advice service, we are a critical source of support to vulnerable residents. We have
built a strong reputation within the Borough for providing high quality, independent, person-
centred welfare and housing advice. The organisation employs several part-time staff and
has a team of volunteers. In addition to providing advice we currently deliver a domestic

As service manager, you will work with our friendly staff and trustee team to deliver our vital

This role is an integral part of the day-to-day delivery of our Advice and Support Service, which has been re-shaped and is due to go live in the summer of 2024. The service is targeted at older people in or facing financial hardship, and provides information, advice and follow up support relating to a range of issues, including Welfare Benefits, Social Care and Housing. 

As an Adviser (Health Social Care and Housing) you will be responsible for providing specialist support to older people, their families and carers through our advice service with their housing and social care enquiries as well as providing generalist level support on a range of issues through our duty service. 

 You should have in depth, specialist level knowledge of Health and Social Care or Housing (ideally both) as they relate to older people, experience of working within a high volume advice setting and advice supervision framework such as the AQS framework

Head of Wellbeing and Grants – The Solicitors’ Charity

We’re looking for a Head of Wellbeing and Grants to provide collaborative leadership to the Wellbeing and Grants Team and its operations, which are the centre of the Charity’s core charitable activities. As well as running a personal caseload, you’ll work with the team to develop a systematic approach/methodology to case management practice and review, rooted in case management best practice.

Salary c£56,500 to c£63,500 rising to c£57,500 to £64,500 after a 6-month probationary period. The point on these salary ranges at which you will be paid is dependent on your location.

Flexible working arrangements are possible, including homeworking with occasional attendance in person at meetings, largely in central London. Most staff work from home, though we also have an office in southwest London (SW12).

The Head of Wellbeing and Grants role

We have recently agreed our strategy for 2024-2026 and one of the focus areas will be, with the CEO and others, to ensure the successful implementation of the 3-year Strategy, focussing on the Wellbeing and Grants aspects of the strategic aims.

As holder of this senior role, you will lead in collaboratively designing and implementing a consistent methodology for, and systematic approach to, new and existing clients contacting the Charity. You’ll also ensure that the tools and technology used to do this are in place, used consistently and reviewed regularly. As well as management oversight of the Wellbeing and Grants Team, you will also hold a personal caseload and be expected to support Case Managers with particularly challenging cases.

We’re looking for someone with at least 10 years’ experience in casework practice in a client support or advice setting dealing with conversations with people with complex needs and sometimes in distress.  And with at least 3-5 years’ experience in leading/managing a client support function like casework or grants/awards team.

Other key demonstrable skills and experience include having completed other relevant qualifications/training and courses in the sphere of advice and support work e.g. counselling, case management practice, therapeutic approaches et al.

The role

The Head of Practice leads on best practice and practice development across Business Disability Forum. This includes leading and overseeing the work of the Advice Service to support our members and Partners and acting as the primary referral point for complex queries, collating and sharing best practice from within our membership and the impact of BDF best practice advice. They will also lead the delivery of the BDF internal upskilling programme to ensure that all Member and Partner facing teams are at the forefront of best practice in delivering high quality advice and support.

They will also work closely with the Content Team to ensure that BDF’s resources reflect the latest best practice and with the Policy Team to ensure BDF’s advice and resources reflect the latest policy and research thinking and to maintain our position as thought leaders.

• Experience of leading and managing experts on diversity and inclusion related situations and of motivating.

The purpose of this role is to provide efficient and comprehensive administrative support to the joint directors of development and engagement (D&E), and director of policy and strategy (P&S). This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. It is specifically expected that the role will allow for flexible scheduling to accommodate other responsibilities, including caring.

The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. To fulfil this mission, the Circuit fosters a broad spectrum of ministry within its congregations, focusing on worship but also engaging in outreach to the homeless, asylum seekers, new parents, and various other groups. World Child Cancer is seeking an experienced corporate and philanthropy fundraiser to join our growing team and play a vital role in improving the chances of survival and quality of life of children with cancer in under-resourced countries.

About World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.

World Child Cancer’s goal is to help redress that inequity and improve the chances of children with cancer to survive and thrive in under-resourced countries. We currently work with local hospitals in 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Mexico to enable children with cancer to have equal access to the best possible treatment and care through awareness raising on signs of childhood cancer, providing financial, logistical and emotional support to address barriers to access treatment, training of healthcare workers and advocacy.

Overview of the role

This newly created Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager role will play a key part in raising income from companies and philanthropists to help achieve World Child Cancer’s mission.

You will be passionate about enabling children with cancer to have equitable access to quality treatment wherever they are born. We are looking for someone experienced in corporate and philanthropy fundraising, who is proactive, confident in engaging with high value funders, able to develop strong internal and external relationships, has strong verbal and written communication skills, a collaborative way of working and experience in developing new business.

You will join a small but ambitious and high performing team that contributes significantly to World Child Cancer’s annual income of c. £2m.

Reporting to: Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships

Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent

A proven track record in corporate and major gift fundraising with evidence of successful solicitation of six figure gifts and multi-year gifts

Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability and confidence to interact with new and existing high value funders

Experience of successfully developing cultivation plans to engage new funders

Ability to research and identify potential new funders

Ability to translate complex, specialist information into accessible and compelling pitches, proposals and reports

Ability to help develop and monitor project budgets

Experience of working on multiple projects at the same time and cross-departmentally

A positive and collaborative team player 

Ability to work on own initiative, prioritising workload with little supervision when needed

Passion to improve the lives of children with cancer
