Due to three of our client's current Board members stepping down from their positions following completion of their six-year terms, they are looking to fill three vacancies on their Board with individuals who can strengthen their existing skills-based Board by bringing high level knowledge and experience in one or more of the below key areas:
- Treasury and Corporate Finance (strategy and funding options)
- Environmental (green agenda / achieving net zero carbon)
- Strategic IT and Data (using data effectively)
The successful applicant will be a member of their Board and a member of one or more of the following committees:

The successful applicants will be appointed at the July Board meeting however term of office will commence in September 2024. The Board typically meet online however there are approximately four in person meetings a year, which also include overnight stays
As a full Board Member, the remuneration is £5,577 p.a. plus reasonable expenses.

The role
This exciting role within NLOS’s senior management team was created to help bring greater strategic alignment across NLOS and its charities and to better capitalise on new and existing opportunities. The post is critical to ensuring that we maximise the resources available to us through increased income generation and by forging strategic partnerships across multiple sectors and fields that allow us to increase and leverage support for each charity and provide a world class customer experience, while protecting and preserving green spaces of international significance. All activities will be undertaken with a priority to conserve the natural spaces we oversee, and to ensure that income generated at each site is reinvested back into the charity/site where it was raised.
As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, the postholder will be responsible for overseeing a diverse and complementary portfolio, including income generation, strategic partnerships, marketing and communications, event and license management, volunteer and engagement programmes, and strategic partnerships. They will lead a newly created team with diverse and complementary roles, fill remaining team vacancies, and create a cohesive approach and narrative. Thank you for your interest in our Country Manager role. ROLDA (Romanian League in Defence of Animals) is a small animal welfare charity working to improve the lives of dogs, cats, and other animals in Romania and internationally. Since its establishment in 2006, ROLDA has become a beacon of hope for the millions of vulnerable stray animals in Romania – one of Europe's economically poorest nations. Our mission is to manage the homeless animal population, estimated to be millions, through six key focuses: rescue, rehabilitation, sheltering, sterilisation, and education. Within our shelters, inspired by British kennel design and maintained to meet EU animal welfare standards, we can house up to 700 stray dogs at a time. Here, they receive complete veterinary care, rehabilitation, and preparation for rehoming. Since 2006, we have helped over 48,000 animals (primarily dogs and cats) and built two shelters for dogs and one for disabled and senior cats. We also distribute support, primarily through small grants, to six other charities in Romania and over 40 shelters in Ukraine. We rehome mainly in Switzerland, Sweden, and the UK. In addition to our efforts in rescuing and rehoming animals, ROLDA tackles the root cause of Romania's homeless animals through comprehensive neutering programmes and educational initiatives. Since 2006, we have successfully neutered nearly 20,000 cats and dogs, significantly impacting Romania's severe overpopulation of animals.
Job Overview:

Role Overview:

Using your internal communications skills and understanding of organisational change management, you’ll coordinate, plan and deliver effective engagement strategies for internal change programmes across the charity.
Working primarily between the Internal Engagement & Communications and Delivery Services teams, you’ll collaborate on, plan, and deliver communication strategies that take colleagues on a supported journey through change, creating content that translates complex topics into compelling narratives to drive participation and adoption.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver an engagement strategy for internal change communications within the charity, which helps support colleagues with the understanding and adoption of change.
- Plan and create content for internal channels, selecting the most appropriate tools to ensure colleagues are kept informed and engaged, regardless of location or working style.
- Use audience and business insight to develop engagement strategies that are tailored to recipients, appreciating that colleagues are based in different locations and roles.
- Oversee the involvement of various groups across the charity, to enable us to hear the voices and opinions of our workforce.

Person Specification:
- Proven experience in developing and implementing successful internal communication and engagement strategies, ideally including for change related programmes.

- Ability to translate complex topics and create compelling narrative for different audiences.
- An understanding of change adoption processes (e.g. PROSCI/ADKAR) is beneficial but not essential.
