As a Policy Manager you will analyse public policy to make recommendations to central government, regulators and professional bodies whilst collaborating with our wider influencing teams to ensure we help older people become more financially secure in future.
This exciting opportunity would suit someone with a good understanding of the policy making system and strong proficiency in verbal and written communication.
This position offers hybrid working between home and our central London office. Currently our Policy team attend the office weekly on Wednesday's.

Additional Information
The job is flexible, although the post holder will be expected to come to the London office at least once a week, usually on a Wednesday, and have the flexibility to attend key meetings and events in London at other times (and occasionally travel in the UK).

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are hiring a Senior Peripatetic Service Manager (SPSM) who will work across a range of services to support with management and leadership activities, new contract implementation, and delivering on service improvement plans. You will provide direction,, support, and guidance to service managers and teams, working responsively and at pace to provide service manager cover as needed.
You will be based across various services as required, so ability and willingness to travel is essential. In person presence is required however you may be able to have some days working from home as agreed.

KEY CRITERIA
What we are looking for:
- Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours

- IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software.

Key Responsibilities
1) Overseeing Financial Management, Reporting, and Monitoring (60%):
- Manage the financial aspects of funded scholarship programmes, including budgeting, reporting, and monitoring spending.
- Prepare narrative and financial reports for donors, coordinating with UWC schools.
- Lead the process of collecting and analysing data on scholarship recipient students and refugee students across all UWC schools for donor reporting, brochures and publications.
- Collate invoices from UWC schools, create invoices for donors and process invoices for payment.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and efficient use of the accounting system.
- Support the improvement of impact tracking for funded programmes.

2) Supporting Student Stewardship for All Funded Programmes (10%):
- Plan and organise annual onboarding and offboarding sessions for IO-managed scholars.
- Develop appropriate information materials for scholars and UWC schools to support timely and quality donor reporting.
- Implement a yearly offboarding survey with scholars, working closely with the Engagement Team.
- Support coordination between UWC schools and national committees during the selection process and pre-departure preparation.
3) Coordinating University Partnerships (10%):
- Coordinate partnerships with universities on behalf of UWC International, working closely with the Senior Adviser, UWC counsellors and EducationTeam.
4) Assisting the Philanthropy Team with Administration incl. Donation Services (20%):
- Manage donation management processes and support donor stewardship processes, including processing online donations through donation platforms and preparing donation acknowledgement letters for donors.
- Maintain data on Raisers’ Edge database and philanthropy dashboard, preparing management updates.
- Coordinate introductions for new philanthropy staff members at UWC schools.
- Oversee subscriptions to databases and respond to inquiries via email.
Person Specification
Experience and skills
- Financial Management and Reporting: Prior experience in financial management, budgeting, reporting, and monitoring, preferably in a nonprofit organisation or educational institution.

The LSHTM is searching for a CEO to help in the management of the ‘Resilience Against Future Threats’ (RAFT) Research Programme Consortium (RPC). RAFT is funded by FCDO, and its mission is research that will be of practical benefit to national programmes for the control of vector-borne diseases especially malaria. The Consortium partners are the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the Centre for Research into Infectious Disease Cameroon, the Institut Pierre Richet in Côte d'Ivoire, the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanzania, the Faculty of Tropical Medicine of Mahidol University in Thailand, and the Malaria Consortium. One strand of our work concerns the arms race against insecticide resistance in African malaria vector mosquitoes, and in particular the process of choosing the most cost-effective insecticidal interventions in the face of complex geographic variation in resistance and a limited amount of epidemiological trial evidence. The other strand is addressing the more strategic and longer-term threats facing vector control, including the rise of Aedes-borne viruses in Africa, and the effects of anthropogenic changes in the environments in which we live.
We are looking for a CEO who will join the leadership team based in the LSHTM. This is a senior role with operational responsibility across all of RAFTs activities, including its research, its governance structures and workings as a partnership, its relationship with FCDO and the intended users of the knowledge outputs. You will work closely with RAFT’s two Principal Investigators/Research Directors and provide support to all other Principal Investigators/Directors from partners in the Consortium. The CEO will manage the relationship with the donor (UK Government Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, FCDO) and be the primary point of contact. You will provide strategic Management of RPC governance structures; and actively participate in RPC management meetings with Management Group and running of the Consortium Advisory Group (CAG). You will work closely with the Programme Manager to ensure best practice in budget management, financial probity, forecasting expenditure, and financial reporting to donors, Management Group and CAG.
The CEO will oversee and report on detailed progress against the agreed workplans and logframe, including on risks to programme success and make changes and recommendations as required. You will lead on Lead on active engagement with RAFT’s primary external stakeholders (i.e. the main intended users of its knowledge outputs), including National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs) in countries with high burden of mosquito-borne disease, World Health Organisation (WHO), UK Government FCDO etc, so as to understand their research and technical priorities and to coordinate RAFT’s role and contribution. Finally, the CEO will also oversee the development and implementation of the RAFT Communications Strategy and together with the Research Uptake Manager, oversee all RPC communications, data management procedures and engagement of users and policymakers with the research outputs, representing the RPC in public debate and other media.
Candidates must have a higher education to degree level, or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience, experience of managing and reporting on programme grants from funders such as FCDO, EU etc, significant proven experience of financial planning and management including creating and monitoring budgets

Purpose
Reporting to the CEO, the Fundraising Support Manager will support the Fundraising Manager in the fundraising efforts of Crustacean Compassion. This will be role building on two specific areas of work already undertaken, specifically reviewing, and supporting major donors’ proposals, and developing the supporter journey and engagement process.
The applicant will need to have an active knowledge and warm contacts with potential funders, be able to prepare and create proposals immediately as well as use CRM or external screening sources to identify and communicate with potential major donors. They will have expertise across a variety of revenue streams and will have the support of our Campaigns team to develop engaging funding bids designed to create a supporter journey and long-term engagement.
This role will require a substantial amount of proactive independent working, along with close teamwork.
Responsibilities

General Duties
- Implement the execution of the fundraising strategy to lead income streams, delivering growth in restricted and unrestricted income whilst engaging supporter journeys to active givers.

- Develop and implement a stewardship programme through the CRM database.
- With input from the wider team, develop and manage engaging appeals to be run alongside key campaign actions, monitoring their success, and updating activities where necessary, and evaluating performance to inform future appeal plans.
- Ensure that the organisational CRM database usage is optimised to facilitate individual giving and community fundraising.
Person specification
Essential
- At least five years of experience working in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing five to six figure gifts ideally in the Animal Welfare field.
- Experience in developing non-profit fundraising strategies, particularly for Major Donors and in developing a supporter journey.
- Evident track record of successfully meeting and exceeding fundraising targets.
- Knowledge and understanding of fundraising, including research sources and funding criteria.
- Evidence of developing successful fundraising applications to institutional and individual grant funders, especially within the Effective Altruism community.
- Demonstrably skilled and experienced in networking to build relationships, as well as able to build strong and lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
- Advanced prospect researching skills.
- Outstanding written communication skills, including the ability to write engaging copy which presents Crustacean Compassion as an appealing partner for donors.
- Excellent negotiating, diplomacy, and people skills.
- Able to demonstrate a commitment and sensitivity to the aims and objectives of Crustacean Compassion.
- Comfortable working in a small team, liaising effectively with colleagues to drive income alongside campaign objectives.
- Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
- Knowledge of Fundraising Regulator guidelines.
- Strong understanding of UK GDPR and data protection.
- Experience in the effective use of a CRM database.
- Able to work effectively remotely, both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience in working for animal welfare organisations.
- An interest in marine animal welfare
- A Fundraising Diploma or professional qualification is advantageous but will not outweigh experience.
