About the role

A new and exciting opportunity to work with us supporting the developments of active travel and liveable spaces for communities across the West Midlands. 

As the Project Officer you will lead and support behaviour change projects across the West Midlands and Staffordshire with schools, workplaces, job seekers and communities. Engaging with a range of key individuals and delivering walking and cycling activities such as Dr Bike sessions, led walks and rides, school assemblies and community workshops. 

As part of the Active Journeys Team, you will support people to walk, wheel and cycle by promoting opportunities and help overcome barriers to active travel. Projects will include improved walking and cycling infrastructure and making it possible for every child to walk, wheel and cycle to school. 

Activities will be delivered both Online and face to face, and likely to include schools, workplaces and the diverse range of communities in the Midlands. 

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

About you

You should have experience of leading physical activity or other behaviour change projects within schools, workplaces or communities. You should also have experience of working on projects within an established project management framework.  

You will have excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage own workload. You will be able to build and maintain strong relationships and a flexible and enthusiastic approach. With the ability to engage and support lesser heard voices in the community. 

We ask you demonstrate your knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and relevant knowledge of the West Midlands and its diverse range of communities.

We’re looking for an experienced Lead React Native Developer to take over from this re-platforming work and carry it forward — refining and extending the app, while also setting the direction for how we build future mobile apps. Purpose of the role:

You will help form part of a UK-wide team of remote Helpline Advisors operating the only modern slavery specific helpline in the UK. Answering incoming calls, making callouts, sending emails, drafting referrals to external agencies, and maintaining accurate data will be your day-to-day responsibilities. You will contribute to a service that as well as providing information, advice and guidance to our service users, also helps create one of the largest non-governmental bodies of data on the scale of modern slavery in the UK which is used to influence strategy and policy at local, national and international levels. You will provide trauma informed and person-centred information, advice, and guidance to a variety of caller types, including people in and out of exploitation, professionals, members of the public, and businesses.

Purpose of the role

As the Board Secretary to the Board of Trustees, you will be responsible for administration support, diary management and meeting organisation of the Board and Board Committees including being responsible for the compiling and distribution of Board packs by co-ordinating input from relevant staff.

Administration support will include assistance with developing and recording annual workplans, minute-taking, action management and support with forward planning for meetings and key events. You will take ownership of the annual meeting schedule and calendar of Board and Committee meetings; you will also be responsible for organising other trustee and CEO related meetings at the discretion of the Chair of the Board.

As Executive Assistant, you will provide high quality administration support to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), to ensure the smooth operation of CEO and SLT responsibilities and co-ordinating efforts of various parties to ensure completion of key tasks and actions. 

You will have significant experience of providing accurate proactive and responsive administrative assistance to senior staff and be able to demonstrate experience of developing and managing effective administrative systems.  Additionally, the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships through professional engagement and communication skills, both written and spoken, that are effective, empathetic and adaptable to different situations are key to this role.

You will be highly organised and responsive to others in a way that is both timely and professional, with well-developed time management skills and able to evidence completion of activities. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is critical to this role, as is the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with care and integrity.

Key responsibilites

Board Secretary 

• Develop and maintain annual workplans for the Board and Committees in conjunction with the Chair of Trustees, Committee Chairs, CEO and SLT to ensure agendas are structured and tasks are delivered and completed.

• Set Board and Committee meeting dates in conjunction with the CEO and Chair and organise all meetings which may be in person, online or hybrid.

• Produce Board and Committee meeting agendas in liaison with CEO and SLT, ensuring that committee and board workplans are adhered to, and action logs followed up in a timely manner. 

• Co-ordinate the collation of Board packs with input from SLT, the Governance Manager and other members of the Extended Leadership Team to support the agenda items.

• Oversee the timetable for production of Board packs and using the board portal (Team Engine), distribute agendas and the Board pack for all board and committee meetings on a timely basis. 

• Clerk all board and committee meetings, producing minutes and action logs in a timely fashion and ensuring they are signed off by the CEO, SLT lead and Chair. 

• Keep the board portal (Team Engine) up-to-date with meeting papers, policies and other relevant documents. 

• Administer all board appointments and reappointments, producing the induction plan and checking all paperwork is complete to ensure compliant appointments. 

• Support the production and delivery of Board business including the Annual Report and Accounts, recruitment and selection of trustees, and Board development activity where required. 

• In conjunction with the Company Secretary and Governance Manager, ensure adherence to submission with various regulatory and statutory documents to Companies House and the Charities Commission.

• Liaise with the Governance Manager and Chair on the administration of compliance and governance matters related to the Board and longer-term Board projects e.g. skills audits and Board development.

Executive Assistant 

• Provide proactive and responsive administrative support at an executive level to the CEO and SLT, including diary management and ad hoc administration tasks. 

• Develop, plan and maintain an organisational calendar and scheduling meetings and events in a co-ordinated and manageable way. 

• Liaise with SLT to plan an appropriate schedule of work for the organisational calendar to maximise collaboration and the efficient use of time and resources. 

• Provide executive and secretarial support including action logs at the weekly SLT meetings in an efficient and effective way e.g. using note taking software.  Assist with following up actions and meeting outcomes by the agreed deadlines. 

• Collate and distributing of agendas, actions and annual workplans for the SLT meetings in a timely manner. 

• Organisation and administrative support of charity wide events including internal quarterly whole organisation meetings, both in-person and virtual, to ensure the smooth and efficient running of these events. 

• Lead on the organisation and administration of specific project or task groups to ensure that agreed targets, objectives and deadline are met. 

General 

• Build awareness of the charity’s purpose through building strong and effective relationships with external stakeholders. 

• Be prepared to travel across the region and, on occasion, to other sites and national meetings as required. 

• Willingness to undertake continuous development and training for the role, including mandatory Day One and role specific training. 

• Additional ad hoc duties as and when required.

We are looking for a highly organised, proactive, outcome focussed person. You will enjoy being autonomous while working to a plan and to deadlines. You will be capable of producing accurate work and having an eye for detail. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work with a wide range of people. 

Who you’ll be working with 

You will be part of our Finance and Resources team and report directly to our HR Manager. Your day-to-day working relationships will be with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.

We are seeking a professional and experienced Team Leader to join our Dog Team, responsible for the care and support of around 50 on-site dogs and a smaller number in foster homes for a 12 month fixed term contract.

As a Team Leader, Dogs you will oversee the entire pet journey from admission to rehoming whilst also having a specific area of focus and specialism. You will supervise day-to-day operations as point of contact whilst ensuring adherence to relevant policies, procedures, risk and safety assessments. Financial Controller (Maternity cover – 1-year fixed term contract)

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a temporary maternity cover (minimum 1 year). Reporting to the Director of Finance, the role oversees day-to-day charity finances and a team of five staff. The ideal candidate is a qualified CCAB accountant (ACA or ACCA preferred) with hands-on experience, particularly in charity and grant accounting, including deferred and restricted income.

• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. 

• Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (Access Dimensions and FocalPoint preferred) 

• Experience in managing all ledgers, including payroll

Sustrans’ Strategy, Impact and Evidence team is a leading centre of excellence in active travel research, monitoring and evaluation and we are recruiting now. As an Evidence Officer, you will work on a range of behaviour change and infrastructure projects, providing monitoring, evaluation, and analytical support. The Strategy, Impact and Evidence teamplays an important part in supporting our vision by providing robust evidence on sustainable and active travel that ultimately influences and shapes policy, practice and behaviour across the UK.

Focusing on monitoring and evaluating the impact of infrastructure and behaviour change programmes, you will work on a range of projects around the UK and be involved in the planning, delivery, analysis and reporting of our monitoring and evaluation work.

About The Felix Project

The Felix Project is London’s largest food redistribution charity. Our vision is a London where good food is never wasted, and no one goes hungry. We aim to reduce the negative impact food waste has on the environment by working with the food industry to rescue high quality surplus produce, that would otherwise have gone to waste. Purpose of the Job 

We are looking for the Assistant Kitchen Manager to play a key role in the Kitchen team.

Felix’s Kitchen is the longest running Production site we have here at The Felix Project, the staff and volunteer team in the kitchen, turn surplus food into almost 5,000 meals a day. These meals are cooked and packed on site and then go into our network of depots and on to some of the 1,200 community organisations we support.

This role is support in the managing of the day to day running of the kitchen, its team, the food production and packing of the meals and all aspects related to these responsibilities. Assist The Kitchen Manager in all aspects of the operation and planning for the kitchen.

No two days are ever quite the same in our kitchen, we work with volunteers and surplus food this means we adapt and thrive in a fast and changing environment. This role supports and oversees the entire operation, from the kitchen and chef team to the packing room and packing team, our volunteers and engaging and organising within the wider Felix Project.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your normal duties and responsibilities will be set out in your job description. However, the charity may require you to perform other duties from time to time. 

• Support all kitchen staff so they can fulfil their role
• Assist in the smooth running of the kitchen and packing area, taking a hands-on approach
• Ensure that the operation hits its agreed targets of production
• Responsible for the quality control of the cooked and packed meals, and that all correct HACCP procedures are followed
• Responsible for Health and Safety in the kitchen, food safety and record keeping and keeping all records up to date
• Oversee kitchen maintenance and cleaning
• Overseeing shift planning and the rota for the entire kitchen team
• Ordering of all food and other materials needed in the kitchen
• Connect and work closely together with the team at the Poplar Depot, we are attached to
• Ensuring all staff and all volunteers have all relevant training and are well supervised & supported
• Maintain relationships with the wider Felix team and key connections of the Felix kitchen
• This role will be operational, with some management and administrative duties

The ideal candidate will be someone who is eager to continuously improve, whether this be food quality or process or working relationships. The kitchen has achieved some great successes over the last 4 years, but we are looking for someone to continue that improvement and the impact we can have across London.

• Experience in hospitality/catering management and/or kitchen management role
