About the role
University Access Officers are responsible for delivering The Access Project’s high impact mentoring programme to students across our partner schools. This role works with a caseload of students supporting them from the start of Year 10 up to the end of Year 11 to understand the pathway to a top university.
The role also involves project coordination, working with our schools, volunteers and teams across The Access Project to ensure our young people are fully supported and have the best possible chance of achieving social mobility and enhancing their future prospects.
This role is for a University Access Officer to work across one school., Shirebrook Academy. Our schools are shown on a map on our website.
Role responsibilities
- Work directly with young people mentoring a caseload of students in a professional and safe manner.
- Deliver our University Readiness programme through in-depth, targeted 1:1 mentoring sessions with Year 10 to Year 11 students.
- Assess student progress towards being able to make successful sixth form applications.
- Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme.
- Match students with volunteer tutors.
- Monitor student attendance to tutorials and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance.
- Monitor the impact of tutorials and intervene as appropriate.
- Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme
- Manage tutor attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring systems
- Lead on quality assurance of tuition pairings completing a caseload of drop ins.
- Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided)
- Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme
- Direct enrolled students to appropriate wider enrichment opportunities, encouraging both extra and super-curricular participation and reflection.
- Work with Enrichment & Events team and partner schools to deliver school trips to universities, including trip logistics and leading groups of young people on trip days.
- Lead on all student facing comms.
- Send regular summary updates to school as their key point of contact.
- Present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.

Training and Development
You will be provided with regular monthly training so that you can develop your skills and succeed in the role. There is support and supervision from your line manager (Programme Manager), as well as guidance from a Senior University Access Officer and the wider University Access Officer team across The Access Project. There are opportunities for progression, including several additional responsibility roles which are available for UAOs to apply for once they have completed their probationary period successfully.

Early Literacy Interventionist (North London)

38% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard. Chapter One is a fast-growing charity, with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills they need to thrive. We work to ensure that all children have 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.
Our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme (based on a model that serves 20,000 children successfully in the USA) provides daily, 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool, a trained Early Literacy Interventionist works individually with target children.
This ELI role, reporting to the Schools Development Manager, is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop and grow their knowledge of phonics and/or their teaching skill set. It is ideal for someone with previous school experience who is looking for a new and exciting challenge.
You will conduct initial baseline assessments and then deliver differentiated, 1:1, targeted, 7 minute phonics sessions to pupils using a systematic, synthetic approach. Although you are employed by Chapter One, you will work closely with the school team to understand the progression of the school’s phonics teaching; establish tailored plans for each child and feedback on pupil progress. Using your knowledge and insight, you will also collaborate with colleagues at Chapter One to further improve the ELI model, the online tool and programme delivery.

The VOICE Project has two workstreams: Young People’s VOICE and Parent/Carer VOICE. We work with young people to deliver a creative arts leadership programme (6 weekly group), alongside creative drop-in spaces, individual projects and paid-for mentorship opportunities. We work with our Parent/Carer VOICE group to deliver monthly group sessions, parent-led drop-in spaces and individual projects. Duties and responsibilities
1. Lead on delivery of the Young People’s VOICE Groups (6 weekly), working with the VOICE Practitioner to support young people to develop group/individual projects and campaigns within each group cycle.
2. Lead on the development of the Parent/Carer VOICE group, co-producing with Parents/Carers and the Senior Leadership Team a new approach to the (currently) monthly programme.

We are looking to recruit HOPELINE247 Advisers to provide individually tailored suicide prevention advice and guidance to young people and those who are concerned for them via our national multi-channel helpline HOPELINE247 and deliver suicide prevention training online and in community settings across the UK.
What you will do:
· Work as part of a team providing suicide prevention support to a range of clients via multichannel communication platforms.
· Work on a 7-day shift system including evening and weekends
· Use professional judgement to assess the needs of the service users who present with risk to life and manage and report any matters related to safeguarding.
· Maintain accurate records and input data monitoring into the data base system.
· Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practise.
· Provide training, mentoring and coaching to new recruits.
To be successful in this role you will have:
· a degree or professional qualification in Health or Social Care, Community Work or a related discipline
· previous experience of working in an advisory capacity in suicide prevention or mental health

Role - Responsible for the development and implementation of the service communication strategy and plan, including the production and distribution of information, oversight of our online presence and development of work around AI for the benefit of the VCSE sector. The post holder will also co-ordinate aspects of our work in terms of VCSE networks and forums.
Background (Summary)
Enhance is the newly funded VCSE infrastructure support service in Redcar and Cleveland made possible through the collaboration of a number of funders to fill a gap in local provision.
Lloyds Bank Foundation, Rank Foundation, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Tees Foundation and the Woodsmith Foundation have provided three years of funding and commissioned MVDA to develop and deliver a VCSE infrastructure service (Enhance) in Redcar and Cleveland.
Enhance will provide practical support to VCSE organisations based in the Redcar and Cleveland area who deliver services to local people and communities.
The service model for Enhance is based on three key areas:
Improvement – Providing practical support through an information and advice service. This will include for example advice on governance, funding, policy and practice
Growth - The development and delivery of a comprehensive training programme for all VCSEs in Redcar and Cleveland
Influence - Work to support the building and development of relationships; collaborative work across the VCSE sector and cross-sector partnerships

We are delighted to be partnering with a creative, community-focused music charity to recruit a Senior Finance Officer to support their financial operations.
This is a pivotal role in a small team, responsible for the day-to-day financial management and operational bookkeeping of the charity, as well as contributing to longer-term planning and reporting. Following the recent opening of a second venue, including a performance space, recording studio, and café. \this role plays a vital part in ensuring robust and scalable financial systems across all areas of activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain monthly management accounts for senior leadership and the Board
- Lead the budgeting process and maintain cash flow forecasts
- Oversee and carry out accurate bookkeeping, including:
- Purchase/sales ledger management
- Batch and individual payments
- Bank reconciliations
- Petty cash and credit card management
- Processing invoices and receipts
- Manage monthly payroll submissions and liaise with accountants and pension providers
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and Gift Aid claims
- Maintain oversight of income streams including student payments, ticketing, and café revenue
- Support fundraising team with financial reporting for funding applications and reports
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, SORP, HMRC, and charity regulations
- Oversee fixed assets register and manage depreciation schedules
- Liaise with external accountants on year-end accounts for both the charity and its trading subsidiary
What We're Looking For
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified by experience, with a minimum of three years in a finance or bookkeeping role
- Previous experience in a charity, arts, or creative environment is desirable
- Experience preparing management accounts and supporting Board-level financial reporting
- Proficient in using accounting software, ideally Xero
- Strong working knowledge of payroll, VAT, and charity finance regulations
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and handling reconciliations, journals, and multi-source income
Knowledge and Skills:
- Clear understanding of financial controls, compliance, and reporting frameworks
- Ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Experience overseeing or working alongside bookkeepers or finance assistants
- Familiarity with restricted/unrestricted funding models is desirable

We are SIFA Fireside, the support service for any adult in Birmingham that faces homelessness. For 40 years we have supported Birmingham’s most vulnerable people through Homelessness Intervention, Prevention and Recovery services.
The Adult Lead Worker service is based at our main hub in Digbeth but provides city-wide support to adults experiencing multiple disadvantages. This service provides flexible, strengths-based advice and support to people aged 18 years plus who experience two or more of substance use, poor mental health, history of repeat homelessness and offending history. Clients may also be serially excluded from services or be at risk of exclusion from mainstream services.
This is a targeted service that aims to build resilience, improve health and wellbeing and move people towards independent living at an early stage, in order to prevent or delay the need for crisis interventions.
The Lead Workers will also act as a community navigator linking the client into local services and activities, ensuring access to and receipt of necessary care and support that will vary for each client.

About the Service
The Crisis Recovery Service (MK) provides support for individuals who would like to address their immediate mental health needs, as well as manage their wellbeing in the long term.
About the Role
The successful candidate will support individuals on a one-to-one basis and work with them to put together a personalised action plan to address their immediate and longer term needs in line with their mental health priorities. Over a number sessions you will work collaboratively with individuals to explore the situation and factors affecting their mental health, support them to develop skills and tools to help restore and maintain their emotional wellbeing and find solutions to address the wider issues affecting their mental wellbeing including debt, housing, unemployment, and loneliness.
Service Delivery
- Deliver focussed support to individuals experiencing mental health crisis in MK in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed Crisis Recovery Service as well as contract requirements.
- Manage and prioritise a caseload of service users including processing referrals and assessment of their needs and suitability in line with the access to services process.
- Work with individuals to explore the situation affecting their mental health and wellbeing and co-produce a personalised, bespoke support plan to address their immediate and longer term needs in accordance with the priorities and urgent support required by individuals.
- Take a holistic approach, based on the individual’s priorities and the wider determinants impacting on their health and wellbeing such as debt, poor housing, unemployment, loneliness and caring responsibilities.
- Offer focused support to individuals on a 1-2-1 basis with the aim of building their knowledge, skills, confidence and resilience.
- Signpost individuals to wider services and encourage and support people to access local activities and community services.
- Carry out health and safety responsibilities as directed by the Crisis Recovery Service Coordinator, in line with Mind BLMK’s H&S policies, procedures and guidance (risk assessments, reviews, reporting, safeguarding, incidents/accidents, premises).
- Carry out responsibilities as directed by the Crisis Recovery Service Coordinator for the collection, updating, monitoring and reporting of service data in line with Mind BLMK’s contract and systems requirements and procedures.
- To ensure the service delivers outcomes which support individuals with mental health and wellbeing needs and achieves the services KPIs.
- Identify and build good working relationships with the mental health trust, community groups, relevant services and activities for partnership work and signposting as well as keep updated information about them.

Role Overview:
Our Sport and Inclusion Tutor will lead, deliver and develop our intervention programmes, focusing on mentoring young people accessing our Tackle LIFE and Be You programmes. They will bring a wealth of teaching or youth work to our charity and use this experience to support some of the county’s most vulnerable young people. A normal week would include tutoring, sports delivery, and activities such as rock climbing and canoeing.
