Mind in Brighton and Hove empowers and supports people who have lived experience of mental health issues in Brighton & Hove, East and West Sussex.
We are seeking to recruit additional Employment Advisors to join our well established and supportive team, providing advice and information, skills-based interventions, and employment support to people experiencing mental health issues. As an Employment Advisor your role will involve working alongside people to help them achieve their employment goals whether that is to remain in, return to or find work.
The role is varied and involves managing a busy caseload as well as undertaking liaison work with employers and other external partners, so experience and a commitment to partnership working is required. The service also offers workplace wellbeing and recruitment focused workshops offering a chance for people to meet together creatively and share experiences. The successful candidate will understand mental health, employment issues and the barriers people may face in the workplace. Skills in providing advice and information, being able to problem solve creatively and a track record of successfully engaging and working with people experiencing mental health issues are essential.
The Employment Advice Service provides employment support for people accessing NHS Talking Therapies via the Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Service. The Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Service is a primary care mental health service for people of all ages in the city.

The Role
You will be a part of the youth service working on the local council sites and a community centre in Wakefield and Bradford, where you will build trusted relationships with young members (age range 5 to 17). Working with families living on site, with some engagement (outreach) of young people living on yards, in houses and potentially roadside. You will get to know them, their goals, talents and challenges and together with them, you will build an ongoing programme of activities.
The youth work programme through weekly group work and regular 1-1 sessions, covers such key issues and topics such as mental health, education, relationships, staying safe, human rights and future hopes. The sessions are planned around building key core skills such as building confidence, leadership and team building skills, positive communication and joint decision making.
The youth service supports young people to be less isolated, have better connections to opportunities, have greater pride and the opportunity to celebrate their ethnicity and pride. Developing partnerships with organisations who can bring their projects to our young people and support them to access opportunities off site.
About You
You will be confident to work in a busy, fast paced, community facing environment that is committed to person-centred working, with active listening skills and an empathetic approach. You will be resilient and adaptable, and enjoy working in a role with competing priorities and deadlines.
Knowledge and experience;
- Have at least 2 years experience of working with young people, either as an employee, volunteer.
- Have experience of delivering group work for children and young. (Co-production and involving young people in session design and delivery)
- Have some experience in keeping records and designing session plans.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of safeguarding principles, policies and procedures
- Have skills in building trusted relationships and developing children and young peoples strengths

The Database and Gifts Officer role is integral to the Development and Alumnae Relations (DAR) department, supporting the school’s fundraising and engagement efforts. The successful candidate will be working with adults in a residential setting delivering assessments, group sessions and one-to-one therapy to those admitted to the service. The post-holder will offer an intensive, abstinent-based programme with high levels of group therapy and a strong emphasis on aftercare support. The role will include facilitating specialist psycho-educational groups, 12 step, relapse prevention therapeutic groups and individual counselling sessions.
You will work closely with our Supported Housing team and be required to participate in regular team meetings. Main Responsibilities
• Undertake assessments of people entering the service through various referral sources.
• Develop, facilitate, and review a group work programme that meets the needs of our clients. These might include dual diagnosis, trauma, cross-addiction, criminal justice issues and various types of substance use.
• Provide a holistic package of care to people which meets their needs and includes working with colleagues across other teams to help residents with diversionary activities, employment, training, and education.
• Work with the Supported Housing team to ensure residents are safe, secure, and maintain their tenancies and are prepared to move onto independent living.
• Provide a range of one-to-one interventions that might include MI, person-centered care, CBT, DBT and trauma work.
• Manage a caseload of individuals with a wide spectrum of needs.
• Assist residents to understand the effects and benefits of any medication prescribed for them and the importance of complying with treatment regimes. This might include liaising with pharmacists, doctors, and psychiatrists for monitoring purposes.
• Provide psychoeducation to raise awareness and understanding of substances and their effects.
• Provide onward referral and liaison with wrap-around support within SCT to enable our residents to achieve social integration and personal development.
Client Management
•Coordinate and carry out assessments of new residents and the referral and acceptance process, ensuring that each client has a programme appropriate to their needs.
• Conduct joint 3 and 6-monthly reviews with Supported Housing team colleagues.
•Provide group and individual counselling as required by the service.
•Support residents from admission until completion of treatment.

Qualifications and Experience
ESSENTIAL
• Educated to degree level or Diploma Level 4 in Counselling.
•Two years’ experience of therapeutic work with: people in recovery, people experiencing homelessness or people with significant trauma histories / adverse childhood experiences.
• One year’s experience of one-to-one counselling.
•A solid working understanding of CBT, MI, Relapse Prevention techniques and/or other interventions applicable to working with people in recovery.
•Experience in delivering therapeutic group work.
•Experience in encouraging individuals to reflect on their behaviour (consequences and risks), recognise the benefits and potential for change and provide support and encouragement to help residents achieve change positively within an abstinent community.
•Using effective support systems and networks to develop own knowledge and practice.

Camberwell or Holloway Rd with travel across London

We will also rely on you to develop and maintain relationships with other stakeholders, such as police, YOT, Probation, children's services and local authorities, plus make appropriate onward referrals and signpost young people to other support services and positive activities. This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Duty Independent Domestic Violence Advocate to be the first point of contact for women who are impacted by domestic violence. You will work closely with victims of domestic abuse from the point of crisis and other gender-based abuse to provide high quality independent support to survivors all risk levels and their children..
In this role you will be part of a busy team. You will be the first point of contact for survivors who have been referred to the Gaia Centre. The duty IGVA will be responding to daily enquiries (specify from whom- public, agencies, individuals? over the phone and email as well as contacting survivors, assessing their risks and needs.
The duty IGVA will be responsible for carrying out and implementing safety plans and needs and will ensure an effective handover to the over to the relevant GAIA team for ongoing support. The post holder will also empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support. You will ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options. The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors.
As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.
