We at LEAH care deeply about some of the most vulnerable people who have been displaced from their own countries and homes and land on our shores through no fault of their own. Asylum seekers, refugees and victims of trafficking face significant barriers and we are totally focussed on supporting each individual to overcome those barriers. Our core programmes tackle a key barrier, which is a lack of functional English.

We are seeking a Head of Operations who aspires to be a Charity Director or CEO. They will hold extensive responsibilities for our programmes, delivery, IT, impact evaluation and other key areas. They will have excellent relationship management skills and display great leadership skills. 

LEAH is on a journey following the acquisition of another charity and the Head of Operations will have a crucial leadership role in managing change as well as overseeing the delivery of day-to-day operations.

This HR Manager role is available on a permanent contract and full-time basis. The salary band is £35,000-£45,000 and has flexible working arrangements, as a remote role with occasional travel.
 
You will report to the Director of Finance & Corporate Services and be the primary point of contact for all operational HR matters and provide an inclusive people focused HR service. You will foster strong relationships between employees, line managers, and HR ensuring the delivery of an effective HR function.
 
You will have a hands-on approach and to all aspects of the employee relations cycle which includes leading on recruitment campaigns and onboarding/offboarding. You will maintain and update the HR system. You will conduct data analysis on key HR metrics. In addition to this, you will review, process, and implement HR policies and drive continuous improvement of the HR function.
 
To be successful in this role, you will be CIPD Level 5 or equivalent and have a vast amount of demonstratable HR experience, with at least a couple of years working in HR Manager roles.
 
You will have experience of advising and supporting managers on a range of employee relations matters. You will have experience reviewing, developing, updating and implementing HR policies. You will have an understanding of GDPR and the ability to handle confidential/sensitive information. You will have experience using HR and payroll systems. You’ll ensure our supporters feel valued and connected, while gaining hands-on experience in a key area of charity fundraising.

• Help deliver impactful legacy and in-memory campaigns
• Manage our Free Wills Service and assist with event planning
• Coordinate supporter journeys and stewardship activities
• Handle supporter emails, phone calls, and event RSVPs with care
• Work with our CRM to manage supporter data and run reports
• Support key processes including thanking, financial admin, and team logistics

About You

• Communicates clearly, kindly, and confidently (in writing, on the phone, and in person)
• Is organised, detail-focused, and good at juggling multiple tasks
• Has experience working with customers or supporters
• Enjoys working collaboratively and building positive relationships
• Is confident with Microsoft Office and open to learning new systems
• Bonus points if you’ve used a CRM system or worked on financial admin—but don’t worry, training will be provided!)
