About the role

The Communications Manager is essential in driving delivery of our ambitious programme of work, with the communications team centrally located to work in partnership with our colleagues across all directorates and nations. Working closely with the Head of Communications and Marketing, key activities include supporting the updating of our content management system across three websites; rolling out a new marketing function within our CRM; and working with colleagues to ensure all digital marketing activity is integrated, value for money, agile by design and delivers against our strategic priorities. The role line-manages four direct reports.

We are looking for someone to bring demonstrable experience and dynamism to the team, and who will make evident to colleagues the value of coordinated communication strategies and plans in achieving our organisational objectives. You will understand the opportunities created in testing new channels and approaches to reach audiences; be creative with communications plans and deliverables; and see the importance of tracking content performance against agreed KPIs.

Purpose of the post

The Engagement and Involvement Lead will engage with young people, families, schools and other interest-holders in the process of designing, delivering and ensuring the best outputs from the Adolescent Health Study, and is critical for the success of the project.  We are at the early stages of laying the foundations for this and in this new role we are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to co-ordinate and lead AHS’s cross-UK participant and public involvement and engagement activities.

This is a role that requires high levels of confidence, autonomy, enthusiasm and skill. The postholder will be responsible for delivering the project’s new Engagement and Involvement Strategy, including:  establishing and coordinating a Young Persons’ Advisory Group for AHS; developing and delivering AHS public engagement and involvement activities; outsourcing and supervising engagement and involvement activities that are better provided by external partners; scoping and advising on which routes for involvement and engagement activities are best suited to different tasks. 

Main responsibilities

Planning & strategy delivery

· Ensuring the study delivers the values and approaches set out in the AHS engagement and involvement strategy

· Planning, delivering and reporting on an ongoing, regular and important programme of engagement events and activities

· Reviewing/revising/adding to existing policies, processes and procedures to support effective working together with people and communities (such as reimbursement, compensation, making reasonable adjustments)

· Developing and implementing appropriate evaluation, monitoring and reporting of Community Engagement & Involvement

· Keeping up to date with good practice & sector advances and sharing these with the AHS team.

Practical engagement and involvement

· Developing methods to enhance engagement and involvement, and helping to build positive relationships with young people and stakeholder groups, including charities, third sector & advocacy groups

· Overseeing day-to-day planning & delivery of a high-quality engagement and involvement programme.  To include, for example:

o Managing and supporting Youth Advisors

o Recruiting and running a standing Young People’s Advisory Group (YPAG)

o Organising & delivering other ad hoc engagement activities as necessary

· Securing external partners where necessary, and managing contracts and delivery of their work across the UK

· Ensuring that any external parties (e.g. organisations, freelancers, consultants) supporting AHS’s involvement and engagement work have clear roles, responsibilities & goals

· Working with the Head of Communications to develop and manage provision of relevant information to members of the public, teachers, young people & researchers

· Keep clear records of involvement and engagement activities, ensuring results are used to inform the study and the wider research community.

Team support

• Checking for and capitalising on possible opportunities for engagement and involvement to be embedded in the work of the wider team
• Ensuring appropriate induction, training, mentoring and support is organised for the research team and communities involved
• Sharing examples of emerging good practice and CEI (Community Engagement & Involvement) impact across the research team.

Wider

• Contributing to shared learning and future sustainability as part of wider CEI communities of practice
• Acting as a key point of contact for community members and partners involved in the research
• Representing and presenting the AHS study’s engagement and involvement work to the wider research community at a senior level, including in national engagement & involvement networks as necessary.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential criteria

· Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field

· Experience developing and delivering engagement and involvement activities with young people and other relevant interest-holders (such as parents, families, teachers and schools)

· A proven track record or professional background in working with young people – such as in youth work, counselling, mentoring, education, or a related setting

· Understanding and experience of good practice in youth engagement and involvement,  including the principles and implementation of safeguarding, data protection, and inclusive practice

· Awareness of culturally sensitive approaches and methods to be inclusive of all relevant perspectives, including  marginalised and vulnerable groups

· Experience of successful project management and ability to deliver, working independently.

· Ability to design and deliver workshops, focus groups or meetings that encourage open dialogue and collaboration

· Ability to manage a budget and report on financial activity accurately

· Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, with experience of working alongside and influencing senior level professionals

· Research literacy, with a clear understanding of large UK-wide research initiatives and the various competing demands and pressures the study will face

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to communicate effectively and confidently with a range of stakeholders and to summarise and report key information clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing

· Demonstrated commitment to youth participation and the meaningful inclusion of young people’s perspectives.

· Confident using online tools (e.g. MS Teams, Zoom), and collaborative platforms (e.g. SharePoint, Microsoft 365)

Desirable criteria

· Relevant qualification in engagement and involvement

· Post-graduate degree or equivalent experience

· Understanding of key concepts and challenges in young people’s health and wellbeing and the transition to adulthood

· Familiarity with health research and data governance frameworks

· Understanding and knowledge of key potential partners across the UK for delivering youth engagement in the sector.

· Experience using digital engagement and facilitation tools for online workshops (e.g. Miro, Mural, Mentimeter, Canva, PowerPoint)

Dimensions

· This has been designed as a full-time role, although part-time work could be considered for the right candidate.

· Flexible working across several geographical locations in the UK.  Travel may be required to AHS locations and partner organisations.

· AHS is a national organisation, and our activities take place across the UK.

Senior Finance Business Partner & Analyst

About you

As our Senior Finance Business Partner & Analyst you support all financial aspects of our income generation and contract management working closely with budget holders and senior management. Our income is about £10m much of which is contractual but with a small and growing donation income stream from trusts and individuals. You will be supporting the analysis of individual contracts, particularly staffing costs, and a wider look at income streams. You will support bids for new work and produce funder reports. You will be a key part of our organisational forecast and budgeting, with some scenario planning for changes in the economy.

JOB PURPOSE 

Prepare, cook and present food safely and efficiently using high quality ingredients according to the College standards, health and safety and food hygiene practices. Work collaboratively with other Chefs and contribute with new ideas to support the Catering Manager in the creation of new dishes and update of seasonal menus. KEY RESPONSIBILTIES AND DUTIES

• Always ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen and back of house areas

• Regularly check inventory levels

Financial Controller

About you

As Financial Controller you will oversee our finance function ensuring that our management reporting, payroll, VAT, forecasting, sales and purchase ledger processes run as efficiently as possible and safeguard the assets of the charity.

We run payroll for around 400 staff and one large part of the role will be improving the processes around this, with support from the Finance Director and Head of HR.

You will line manage and support the development of two Finance Officers. You will report to the Director of Finance & ICT.

Job Summary/Purpose:

Assisting the Gardens Manager in ensuring that Morden College gardens and grounds at Blackheath and at Beckenham are maintained as safe and appealing external spaces and to promote resident wellbeing by supporting hands on gardening activities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Mowing, using all types of mowers, including ride-on mowers.
• Edging, trimming and maintaining lawns.
• Scarifying and spiking of lawns.
• Maintenance of fine turf areas including sports areas (including hammers and putting).
• Application of lawn fertilisers, use of hosepipes and sprinklers, watering of pots and urns.
• Planting and maintaining seasonal bedding, planting and maintaining shrubs and trees, pruning of fruit trees and shrubs, propagation of hard wood cuttings and potting up.
• Rose pruning and application of rose fertilisers, removing epicormic shoots from trees.
• Leaf clearing, using leaf blowers or rakes/brooms, make and apply compost.
• Application of rock salt or other specified materials and clearing snow and ice from pathways and roadways.
• The mixing and application of chemical sprays.
• Hedge trimming using both manual and power assisted equipment, single/double digging of areas both manually and using a rotavator.

Charity Fundraiser

The Vine Centre is looking to appoint a fundraiser.

The Vine Centre is a community based Charity offering inclusive support to those living in Rushmoor and its surrounding areas. We specialise in offering mental health, anger management and addiction support. Our offer also includes employment & training services, budgeting, energy support, IT skills and benefit support. We run social groups, yoga, therapeutic art and cookery classes. We run a community pantry which offers food to those most affected by the cost of living crisis.

The Vine Centre is a one stop shop for support working with the most vulnerable in our area our premises are in Aldershot but our reach is across Surrey & Hampshire. 

Previous experience necessary - good IT skills are required, particularly with MS Office, Word and Excel.

The role is offered at 18 hours at  £16,848 - (full-time equivalent 37.5 hours - £35,100). This includes 25 days (Pro-Rata) annual leave (plus bank holidays).

About the role

The Writer role sits within the Communications Team, which in turn sits within the wider Department of Communications and Fundraising. You’ll work under the guidance of a Creative Content Manager and alongside a Senior Designer & Videographer.

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Facilitator to deliver a programme of activities within Key Enterprises and the community centred on improving the physical health and mental and emotional wellbeing of those accessing Key Enterprises.

The successful candidate will a passion for the outdoors, cycling, health and wellbeing and be confident working with adults with additional needs, supporting them to access activities that challenge and inspire.

Duties

Facilitate activities using Key Enterprises in Benton as a base, creating a space for internal activities.

Maintain and service a fleet of bicycles (including tandems and accessible trikes) and lead accessible bike rides, encouraging active travel.

Deliver workshops on the importance of physical health and nutrition.

Run accessible gym sessions for those with a range of abilities.

Support colleagues across Key Enterprises to deliver a service based on he principles of 5 ways to wellbeing.

Essential Criteria:

Expectations of the facilitator includes a range of the below skills (but is not limited to these either and we’d work with the successful facilitator in developing a program that suits their strengths).

• Competent in the instruction of physical exercises
• Knowledge or experience of supporting adults with additional needs and the different approaches to communication, engagement and activities that maximise benefit
• Be able to motivate service users to take on new challenges (ranging from learning to ride a bike, engaging with exercise for the first time to bigger adventures in the outdoors)
• Can mend and maintain bikes
• A knowledge of areas in the Northeast that would be suitable for outdoor pursuits including hikes, nature walks and bike rides.
• Can facilitate activities along our coastline including such activities as paddle boarding, kayaking, and doing cold water dips.
• A knowledge of nature and wildlife and an infectious enthusiasm that can be shared with service users for getting into nature
• Adaptability for times of inclement weather to keep our service users entertained and engaged with indoor activities.
• Willing to work flexibly
• Comfortable driving a van/minibus
• Take advantage of the latest technology to support the role both internally and in reaching out to stakeholders within the community (smart device use, location sharing, using GPS, planning sessions using Microsoft Office packages and communicating comprehensively through Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
• Knowledge in engaging with health and safety procedures and policy including writing risk assessments for activities.

Desirable Criteria:

• A passion for looking after our environment, reducing carbon, and helping service users engage in “green” activities.
• Has an enthusiasm for “forest school” and outdoor survival type skills, campfires, foraging etc.
