Community Support Officer
Full-time | 3-month Fixed-Term Contract | £35,000 (pro rata) | Based in Fulham + local travel | Start ASAP
Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable adults to live independently? Do you have experience working with people facing challenges such as homelessness, poor mental health, or substance use? Are you someone who thrives in a supportive team environment and enjoys building meaningful relationships with the people you support?
We’re working with a fantastic organisation that provides high-quality supported housing to former members of the armed forces. They’re looking for a confident and compassionate Community Support Officer to join their team on a 3-month fixed-term basis.
In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll be a key point of contact for tenants living across several housing sites. You’ll work with individuals to develop personalised support plans, connect them with appropriate services, and help them to sustain independent living and feel part of the community. No two days will be the same - this is a brilliant opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of those who have served their country.
What you’ll be doing:
Acting as keyworker to a caseload of tenants, including those with complex needs
Creating and reviewing support plans and risk assessments
Helping tenants access mental health, substance misuse, and benefits advice services
Encouraging involvement in activities that promote community integration
Supporting tenants to navigate housing and maintenance issues
Liaising with statutory and voluntary agencies to coordinate support
Keeping clear, accurate records and contributing to safeguarding and compliance procedures
About you:
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
Experience supporting vulnerable adults, ideally including veterans or people with complex needs
A working knowledge of housing rights, welfare benefits, and safeguarding practices
Excellent communication and people skills, with a warm, non-judgemental approach
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team
Strong organisational skills and confidence using basic IT systems
A full understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. You’ll be based at the organisation’s Fulham site, with regular travel across other London-based properties.
If you’re looking for a short-term role where you can have a big impact, this could be the perfect opportunity.
