Contract: 18-month fixed-term contract, with potential for extension

One Community Foundation Kirklees is a respected and ambitious charitable foundation dedicated to strengthening local communities and improving lives across Kirklees. Since its establishment in 2010, the Foundation has distributed over £8 million in funding to local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups, helping to tackle poverty, improve health and wellbeing and create opportunities for young people.

This is a particularly exciting time to join the Foundation. With ambitious plans to grow its endowment to £7–£8.5 million over the next five years, the organisation is looking for someone who can help unlock new philanthropic opportunities and build meaningful partnerships that will make a lasting difference to local communities.

This is a newly created role offering the opportunity to really make your mark. Working closely with the CEO, you will have the freedom to develop relationships, shape the Foundation's approach to philanthropy and connect individuals, families and businesses with causes they are passionate about supporting.

What makes this opportunity exciting?

  • The chance to shape something new: Take ownership of a newly created philanthropy role, helping to develop the Foundation's approach to major giving, endowment fundraising and long-term donor engagement.
  • Build meaningful relationships: Work with individuals, families, businesses and professional advisers to create exciting opportunities for philanthropic giving and establish partnerships that deliver lasting impact.
  • Make a genuine difference: Play a central role in growing the Foundation's income and endowment, helping to secure sustainable funding for charities and community projects across Kirklees for years to come.

What will you bring?

  • A background in fundraising, philanthropy, business development or high-value relationship management, with a passion for building connections and inspiring people to give.
  • The confidence and enthusiasm to engage with a wide range of people, develop new networks and turn conversations into meaningful, long-term partnerships.
  • A proactive, creative and relationship-focused approach, with the ambition to help grow philanthropy and make a tangible difference to local communities.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys getting out and meeting people, developing relationships and bringing new ideas to life. You don't necessarily need to come from a traditional major donor fundraising background; the Foundation is keen to hear from individuals who can bring strong relationship-building skills, commercial awareness and a genuine enthusiasm for philanthropy.

You'll be joining a small, passionate and collaborative team, with the opportunity to work closely with the CEO, influence the direction of the role and develop your profile within the wider community foundation network.

The role offers part-time hours across three days per week, with some flexible hybrid working available following an initial induction period.

Please note that candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car for business use. Mileage will be paid.

How to apply

To apply, please send your CV and a supporting statement or covering letter (maximum two A4 pages) addressing how you meet the person specification, how philanthropy supports local communities and what motivates major donors to work with community foundations.

Please send your application to by 9am on Monday 16th November 2026.
