Senior Information and Education Manager

Harris Hill are delighted to be partnering with Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF), the UK’s leading patient charity for people affected by pulmonary fibrosis, to recruit a Senior Information and Education Manager.

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
Location: Hybrid role, with attendance at the charity’s Peterborough office for team meetings, collaboration and other key activities, typically on a quarterly basis, alongside travel to meetings, events and partner sites as required

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced health information, content or patient education professional to lead APF’s information and education work, ensuring people affected by pulmonary fibrosis can access clear, accurate, trusted and accessible information when they need it most.

Key responsibilities

• Lead APF’s patient information and education work, setting the strategic direction and developing a clear information and education roadmap.
• Lead the development, review and improvement of patient information across digital, print and other accessible formats.
• Undertake a full review of APF’s website patient information, improving content, structure, accessibility and user journeys.
• Identify content gaps and develop new resources based on audience needs, insight and emerging health information trends.
• Ensure information is clear, accurate, evidence-based, clinically reviewed, accessible and written in plain English.
• Strengthen APF’s processes for content creation, review, approval, publication, updating and retirement.
• Lead improvements to APF’s information distribution and resource ordering processes, balancing accessibility, cost and sustainability.
• Provide strategic oversight of APF’s education programme, supporting the Education and Events Co-ordinator to deliver high-quality sessions and events.
• Oversee education-related events, webinars and APF’s presence at relevant external conferences.
• Manage relationships with freelancers, suppliers and external partners, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective delivery.
• Develop effective evaluation and impact measurement, using feedback, analytics and insight to improve information and education activity.
• Act as an internal adviser on patient information quality, health literacy, accessibility and user-centred content.
• Manage the information and education budget and support funding proposals and business cases where required.

We are looking for:

• Experience drafting, editing or overseeing patient information or health content.
• Experience developing or contributing to information, education or content strategy.
• Experience managing content lifecycles and working with clinicians, expert reviewers or evidence-based content.
• Experience using feedback, analytics, insight or evaluation to improve content and user experience.
• Strong project and programme management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Experience supporting or managing staff, including setting priorities and reviewing progress.
• Experience managing external suppliers, freelancers or agencies.
• An understanding of health information standards, including accessibility, health literacy, plain English and clinical review.
• An understanding of health misinformation and the importance of accurate, evidence-based communication.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work with clinicians, people with lived experience, colleagues and external partners.
• Good digital confidence and an understanding of how people find and use health information online.
