Trainee Debt Adviser
Salary: £28,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: London (Hybrid working available following probation and business needs)
Contract: Permanent (subject to funding)
We're recruiting on behalf of a specialist London-based charity that supports people experiencing financial hardship through debt advice, money guidance and financial education services.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in debt advice and make a real difference to people's lives. You'll join a supportive team and receive training and ongoing professional development to become a Debt Adviser.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting clients with debt advice appointments and casework.
- Managing client enquiries and correspondence.
- Gathering and analysing financial information.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential case records.
- Providing tailored, client-focused support.
- Working towards appointment and casework targets.
- Supporting workshops and other services.
- Undertaking ongoing training and development.
About you
We're looking for someone who is organised, empathetic and passionate about helping others. Previous debt advice experience isn't essential.
You'll have:
- Experience in a client-facing or customer service role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong listening and interpersonal skills.
- Good numeracy and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A commitment to learning and professional development.
- An understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
Experience within the charity, advice or community sector would be advantageous.
