Harris Hill has an amazing opportunity, for an experience Senior Media and Communications Officer, to join a membership/ health organisations, so 6 months on a full time, hybrid basis, with 2dpw in the office in London, and 3 from home. 

Main scope of the role

Lead on proactive media and communications to improve awareness of the organisations work.

Responsible for developing creative and engaging written, visual and audio content to deliver the proactive media and communications activities. 
 

Identify proactive media opportunities and collaborate with teams across the organisation, including officers, members, experts by experience, internal and external stakeholders, teams and staff, to build positioning, expertise and credibility in their communications.

Alongside meeting journalists, develop a network of credible contacts to work with on media and communications projects and attending events, key meetings, briefings and interviews.

Experience:

Journalist/experience of journalism actively working in the media with Public relations/press experience

Good news sense and understanding of how the media works and how to make an impact

Ability and willingness to work under pressure to tight deadlines in a fast- paced busy press office

Understanding of the prioritisation of news stories and responses and how to identify the correct news stories

Ability to efficiently draft accurate press releases and other written materials

Knowledge and understanding of media distribution tools

Experience creating the media and communications strategy for proactive campaigns

Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios

• Lead sponsorship planning and delivery for major events.
• Build and maintain a dynamic donor and supporter network.
• Finalise and deliver the organisation’s first fundraising strategy and associated action plan.
• Develop a coordinated approach to sponsorship across teams and departments.
• Manage and grow a portfolio of strategic funding relationships.
• Design commercial and sponsorship packages for events, educational content, and outreach campaigns.
• Generate income from individual giving, corporate partnerships, and trust and foundation grants.

To be successful, you must have experience:

• Proven experience in senior level fundraising and sponsorship roles.
• Strong track record in securing funding from a variety of sources including corporate sponsors, individual donors, and grant-making bodies.
• Skilled in building long term, high-value partnerships
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.

Salary: Starting salary of £50,882 plus competitive benefits

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified solicitor with solid experience across areas such as charity law, probate, property and conveyancing, employment law, contract law, and data protection. You will be commercially astute, adaptable, and committed to staying abreast of evolving legal and regulatory developments. Expertise in legacy management and estate administration would be a strong advantage, as would recognised data protection certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT. You will bring strong analytical skills, sound judgement, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. As a trusted advisor, you will have the confidence to interpret complex legislation and translate it into practical, accessible guidance. Your ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse disciplines will be key, as will your capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll shape and deliver multi-channel fundraising campaigns that grow the organisation donor base, deepen supporter relationships, and drive sustainable income.

This is a senior leadership role with significant influence across the organisation. You’ll collaborate closely with heads of other departments to ensure fundraising is aligned with the charity mission delivery, communications, and international programmes.

As a Head of Individual Giving you will:

• Head the strategic development and delivery of all individual giving activity.
• Oversee a diverse portfolio of appeals, ensuring campaign success across acquisition, retention, and stewardship.
• Drive innovation in supporter engagement, including regular giving, legacy marketing, and donor journeys.
• Manage key relationships with creative agencies, suppliers, and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, Fundraising Regulator standards, and internal policies.
• Lead and develop a small, dedicated team including the Individual Giving Manager, Supporter Care Officer, and CRM Data Entry Officer.
• Oversee the fundraising CRM (Salesforce), ensuring data is accurate, insightful, and utilised to shape campaigns.

To be successful, you must have experience:

• Significant experience in Direct Marketing, ideally within a charity.
• Proven success in individual giving and campaign management.
• Strong understanding of CRM systems, ideally Salesforce.
• Experienced team leader with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and budgets.
• Excellent communication and copywriting skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the planning and delivery of a year-long global fellowship programme.

• Manage the fellowship budget and ensure smooth operations throughout the contract period.
