JOB SUMMARY

The Head of Finance will be active in preparing monthly management accounts and commentary for the Senior Management Team.

The Head of Finance will be responsible for the ongoing development of the financial systems, processes and procedures, monthly accounts, cash flow, as well as budgeting and forecasting.

BUDGETING & REPORTING

• Preparation of annual income and expenditure budgets for the Charity, working collaboratively with Heads of Department and members of SMT.
• Review and collate all Head office service costs and professional fees and calculate cross company charging for financial reporting.
• Provision of income and expenditure reports, variance analysis and reconciliation of fundraising activities.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including balance sheet, metrics, and commentary.
• Provide a quarterly report for submission to the Board of Trustees
• Formulate monthly rolling forecast cashflow for the Charity and Trading Company including phased income budget and planned expenditure.

FINANCIAL SYSTEMS CONTROL

• Ensure the organisation operates robust accounting procedures and systems of internal financial control in line with current good practice and legislation.
• Oversee and facilitate the annual external audit but effective liaison with the auditors and preparation of accounts ready for inspection.
• Regular review of access rights and permissions for accounting, banking & HR software systems
• Ensure the Charity works in accordance with Charity SORP, HMRC, Charity Commission Regulations and other relevant bodies’ recommended code of practice.
• Keep up to date with changes in legislation affecting finance, payroll & HR ensure this information is cascaded down to other members of the Team.

KNOWLEDGE

• ACCA, ACA or CIMA Qualified with significant post qualification experience
• Excellent technical and analysis skills, including advanced Excel modelling and analysis.
• Knowledge of the Charity SORP and Charity Commission requirements and guidance

As the Scheme Manager you will be working in one of the residential housing schemes based in East London, managing repairs, designing social activities and engaging with residents. You will also be assisting in regulatory and compliance work, reviewing processes and suggesting improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

• All areas of resident management including welcoming new residents, completing inductions to ensure they understand the facilities available and understand the scheme processes, completing daily welfare checks and reporting concerns relating to safeguarding.
• Delivering a holistic sheltered housing service to every resident, helping them maintain their tenancy, access housing services, and sign posting to other service providers.
• Monitoring and reporting any breaches of tenancy agreements, managing complaints and escalating where necessary. 
• Management of delegated scheme budgets in partnership with the Finance team ensuring compliance to policy and procedures.
• The management of site contractors for the services requested e.g. gardening, window cleaning, cleaning and maintenance.
• Overseeing the management of regular building inspections, identifying elements of maintenance required, report repairs and implement works, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, safety and security.
• Overall responsibility for the health and safety of the Scheme, ensuring fire alarm testing, emergency lighting testing and complete all fire testing logs. Ensuring health and safety procedures and policies are adhered to across the scheme and paperwork and training are compliant.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in managing a residential scheme, working with older people and knowledge of related services and benefits, with a strong understanding of housing legislation and the regulatory framework within housing. Experience of managing health and safety and any safeguarding issues and concerns within a residential scheme, is also key.

Harris Hill has an opening for an experienced Individual Giving Manager to join a health related charity for 3 months, but potentially longer to cover recruitment period.

Following the completion of a 5 year plan, the organisation has decided to invest in Individual Giving as it has been noted there is lots of room for improvement, one of which is dividing the team into separate retention and acquisitions teams. This will focus on the retention side. They will be recruiting permanently but need someone quite experienced to get the ball rolling on an interim basis.

As an IG Manager, you will be required to hit the ground running but also be quite hands on, ready to roll your sleeves up when needed. The role is hybrid based with one day per week in the office. They have two offices. One in central and the other in south London which could work well for someone commuting in from the Surrey and the south.

The client is willing to offer a daily rate on a PAYE basis of £164-200 per day, plus holiday pay, which would be payrolled via the agency. You could choose an umbrella company if you wish.

To be considered you will be able to prove experience of applying the principles and techniques of Individual Giving / Direct Marketing within a multi-channel, multi-discipline environment to deliver significant returns and supporter satisfaction, especially through supporter retention & development programmes.
