The Job
This is a newly created Finance Manager position, working 22.5 hours per week across three days, and offering the opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing and embedding an in-house finance function. The organisation currently works with an outsourced bookkeeping provider, and you will act as the key finance lead overseeing outputs, ensuring accuracy and supporting continuous improvement. This is a broad and hands-on opportunity combining operational finance, management reporting, business partnering and process improvement. The role will be offered as a fixed term contract but there is a permanent job available longer term for the right person.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing monthly management accounts, forecasts and cash flow reporting.
- Managing month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations and control reviews.
- Supporting the annual budgeting and planning cycle.
- Leading audit preparation and acting as the primary contact for auditors.
- Business partnering with budget holders and non-finance colleagues across the organisation.
- Overseeing outsourced finance processing and payroll services.
- Supporting improvements to systems, processes and reporting.
- Assisting with the transition towards a more fully integrated in-house finance function.
- Supporting and, in time, managing a Finance Officer.
This role offers genuine variety, ownership and visibility, working closely with senior leadership and helping shape the future finance function.

- Experience using Xero or similar cloud-based finance systems.
- The ability to build strong relationships with non-finance stakeholders.
- A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
- Experience improving finance processes, systems or controls.
This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys working within a smaller organisation where they can take ownership, influence change and see the direct impact of their work.

- £50,000 - £52,500 FTE salary (£30,000 - £31,500 pro rata)
- Part-time role working 22.5 hours per week
