The organisation
We are working with a large, high-profile UK charity to recruit a Head of FP&A and Finance Business Partnering. This is a complex, purpose-led organisation with significant operations and a broad range of activities. Finance plays an important role in supporting strategic decision-making, ensuring resources are directed effectively and providing leaders across the organisation with high-quality financial insight. The organisation is continuing to develop its approach to FP&A and finance business partnering, making this an excellent opportunity to influence how finance supports decision-making across the organisation.
The job
Reporting to a senior leader within Finance, you will lead the FP&A and Finance Business Partnering team, with responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, management reporting and analysis, alongside the organisation's approach to finance business partnering. This is a strategic and highly visible finance role. You will work closely with senior leaders to understand organisational priorities and ensure financial plans and resources are aligned accordingly.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the annual budgeting, forecasting and medium-term planning cycles
- Developing high-quality management information, financial analysis and insight
- Leading and developing the finance business partnering approach across the organisation
- Working closely with senior stakeholders to improve financial understanding and decision-making
- Developing financial models, scenario planning and sensitivity analysis
- Supporting investment appraisal and major programmes
- Improving financial planning, reporting and analytical tools
- Driving continuous improvement across FP&A and finance business partnering
- Leading and developing a collaborative, high-performing team
- Producing high-quality reporting and insight for senior leadership and board-level audiences
The person
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) with strong senior-level experience across FP&A, commercial finance and/or strategic finance business partnering.
You will bring:
- Strong experience of budgeting, forecasting and medium-term financial planning
- Excellent financial modelling, scenario planning and analytical skills
- Experience of partnering with senior leaders in a large or complex organisation
- A track record of developing insightful financial reporting and analysis
- Experience producing reporting for senior executives, committees and/or Boards
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- A track record of improving finance processes, reporting and ways of working
You do not necessarily need to come from the charity sector. Of greater importance will be your ability to operate strategically in a complex organisation, build credibility with senior stakeholders and translate financial information into meaningful insight.
What's in it for you?
The organisation also offers excellent flexibility, with the role primarily home-based and attendance at the London office required just once per month.
Benefits include:
- Predominantly remote working, with one day per month required in the London office
- Double-matching pension arrangement, capped at 8%
- 27 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays
